1980 was the last year for round headlights & first year for square headlights too. The square headlights came standard on models with the Silverado & Sierra Classic trim levels & optional on models with the other trim levels. What makes that rootbeer brown 1987 Silverado pickup there unique is 1987 was the first year for R/V series & gasoline fuel injected motors, & the last year for half ton & three quarter ton plain cab pickups in the squarebody lineup.
There is so much confusing on the body style and all the changes that GM made. We try to be as blanket as possible but it is really funny when some people start to argue the points that we know because this era of Truck we were around in its changes first hand
@DavisOffRoad1 1980 was also the last year for the nose on the front, interior, emblems, & fleetside tailgate with those designs, & the last year for outside hood release too. The side molding trim on that pickup isn't original because that design wasn't produced until 1981. Rewind to 1975, the first year for the Silverado trim level which replaced the previous Cheyenne Super trim level. 1977 was the first year for optional power windows, power door locks, & inside hood release. 1977 was also the only year for the gold stripe in the optional bodyside molding trim. 1983 was the last year for the windshield wiper switch on the dash & the high beam low beam light switch on the floor which was a little button you press with your foot. In 1984, both of those switches were moved up onto the steering column & later in the middle of the model year, the color on the windshield wiper arms & blades was changed to black.
@DavisOffRoad1 when they first started producing the OBSs in 1988, those trucks only came in plain & new extended cab pickup models at the time because the crew cab pickup & SUV models with the previous square body design were still in production up through 1991. One ton plain cab pickups were the only models that came in both the square body & OBS designs at the same time which was from 1988 - 1989.
Who thought these trucks would become so expensive. I bought a really clean single cab long bed 95 silverado 4x4 blue/silver back in December 21. Did a 5.3 swap. It will probably get there in a few years as well. I remember when both styles were a dime a dozen.
Yes, we were just discussing the OBS will be the next one and those are the same. We have been modifying and running those for years and years Solid Axle converting them and other customization, but they are next on the explosion price point coming soon.
My 80 Chevy c20 Scottsdale was a 350 vin m medium duty 4bolt main forge crank truck th400 when i got it it was a 4.8 litre 250 gm Inline 6 48k miles from a 68 Chevy C10 custom great running truck and a th350 long tail 77 Chevy Impala transmission, and unfortunately it was full of bondo nice burgundy paint and interior.. sucked because it was the second reason i got rid of my green and white 78 Chevy c20 custom deluxe rusty the rear bumper delete truck lol i loved that truck but it's cab was one you have to jack up the Dr side cab corner to get the Dr side and passenger side door shut lol
V22 Silverado/Cheyenne, Sierra grande/Sierra classic Royal Sierra trim those usually got the 80 specific grille and square headlights,oh a tip if y'all don't know the 79-80 Chevy sport swb and the g10 and 20 beauville vans that grille will bolt right in the square body gm trucks, the round 78-80 ones, and the Chevy vans with the dual stack headlights and Silverado style grilles same thing they bolt right in the 81-87 gm square body trucks some of the GMC version do some don't
1980 with round head lights are really not considered rare. Its the same headlight bezel as a 79. Its the square light 1980, that are considered rare. It was a 1 yr only, Silverados came with the square head lights. Custom Deluxe, And Scottsdales came with round headlights.
Good point either way but the rareness comes from that they are less 1980s with round headlight than there are with a square headlight but your fact is true also because yes they did change once again after that
I can't get enough of the square body content! And uh, wow, Brother! Thank You ✌️
Thanks for following along and the positive support

Sure is. Thanks for watching
Can check the balancer and it’ll tell you if it’s a 400 , 400s have a notch on the balancer if it’s a stock balancer
Exactly. That’s another another telltale as well as the three freeze plugs versus two.
@@DavisDrives indeed
How much is the silver 3/4 ton 78 Chevy
Depends on the level of completion. Text the boss 8043579768 he will answer all questions
The 1980 1/2 went to single square headlight
Correct
