It's crazy to realize that I've watched the channel for so long. I didn't even know it's been so long till I seen the recap in the beginning. I've missed the kombi content.
A tip I learnt from Ray Mears! Tie the sand ladders to the back of the van. Then when you get moving you drag the sand ladders behind you and don’t need to stop until you’re on firm ground!
Hey Ben, you go through girl friends! Please don't take that as a dig as I love your videos because you come across as such a great down to earth guy - you will find the right girl one day! Been watching yours videos since the South America to Alaska series, super brave/bonkers doing the trips you do in a Kombi - I felt for you when you were dropping the engine in and out on what seemed like a weekly basis. You are a true explorer, keep doing what you do, you are an inspiration to anyone that dreams for travel. Ben from Pembrokeshire
Just found you two - very cute first video to watch. Thanks for sharing the highs and the lows. We just started life on the road and are feeling the highs and the lows too, questions all our lifes decisions - haha, but no ready to throw in the towel.
wahoooooooo! I am so excited for you both! let's go! - I can relate I am a single van lifer & Businesswoman & creator seeking her forever person to go on many adventures around the world! haha Tamara seems to be fitting in like a glove with you and Alaska, Boomerang wahoooooooo sooooo awesome!
Good times 🎉 the steering column it self has a positive charge. When you press the horn it grounds out with the wire that goes down to the gear box. The column needs to be fully insulated so it doesn’t ground out. Different seals here and there or some electrical tape to insulate.
Switching from a Kombi would be an interesting pivot for a channel named "Kombi Life". People get so sentimental about their vehicles, but they're just machines. Tools. Chosing a Kombi as a platform for full-time, world-wide adventuring is akin to deciding to dedicate your life to building houses and choosing a tack hammer (instead of any sort of normal carpentry hammer) for driving all of the nails.
Tamara is great, she is playful, extrovert, which I think is essential for being a you tuber travel vlogger. Plus looks like she knows her way around a tool box. As a woman myself who fixes most things, I support women getting their tools on and wearing a bright red lipstick to match :) My kind of woman. Plus I like how she has more input and voice into the videos. The last two lovers, seemed so sweet but always more in the back ground.
18:27 a Serbian that doesn’t need any slivovitz to have fun. A keeper. Your trip has me thinking of the possibilities. Whenever I am lucky enough to road trip through France, I’m definitely spending a few weeks at Plum Village Monastery.
Tamara, it's Sally! First time watching this channel and I'm so heartwarmed to see how happy you are. Ben's alright, isn't he -approve ehe! Sending so much love to you and I miss you lots. I plan on being back in the UK Aug 2025 and would love to see you and meet the fam! Big love from BC
Exciting to see a new series. Tamara seems great and eastern europeans are always fun. As one myself i guarantee a good time. I really hope it works. Love to see Alaska. No offence Ben but she's the main reason i come back again and again :) (kidding) About the van. I said this again and again and you thought about it for sure but i'll say it till the end of times. I started watching Kombilife on your journey to Alaska. It was awesome. I think you are a couple of years older than me and you were an inspiration. Journey was incredible but hard ... just like life. Through all the difficulties you pushed through and that was what inspired everybody and why many sticked around through thick and thin. The age, the van, the fun, the difficulties everything was intertwined. Years passed and things have to change to evolve. How many times that van broke or it's slow or whatever. After all these years i really hate it. I understand you want to travel cheap and show and inspire everyone that it's possible but you have a custom made engine in there and you have expensive kit so a little bit of the original idea is gone but it's normal and that's life. The channel is called KombiLife but we are not here for the van, we are here for you and alaska and i really think a reliable van could help you concentrate and getting the channel to the next level it deserves. More comfort for your companions, reliability so the channel is focused on adventures and not the hardship of owning a 74 van. I mean it will be fun when the van breaks once a couple of month and brings a little drama but again and again and again ... i'm really fed up to see this and from the previews i see this will be the thing again. I am 101% sure you know what adventure is and you are a very capable and creative person but fixing a van for the nth time is not adventure and this channels main focus shouldn't be fixing a van. at least not anymore. I know i said it already but i really hate to see that van and i still love copito. Sorry for the rant and hope you don't mind. This is just my two cents and probably i'm wrong. i had a bigger speach but i trimmed it for youtube :). Excited to see what happens! Safe travels!!!
Hi Ben, been watching your videos for years and glad the wait for this season is finally over. Great first episode looking forward to the rest. Lots of comments on here about relationships. I’m sure they are all with the first person they met. It’s the story and authenticity of real life that keeps people coming back. Whatever happens is none of anyone’s concern we should all be thankful to you for letting us share in your life. Keep on living life’s adventures. Peace out ❤
Hi Ben and Tamara. Good to see you back on TH-cam Ben. Have you tried using WAZE instead of Google maps? It hasn't let us down yet (in our T25). Looking forward to seeing the rest of your new adventure 😊. Will and Bev.
On the road again!!!!! at last ! and this one seems like its gonna be an epic trip, dont take any easy routes, keep it edgie and exciting. you will make. Dobra mate !
looking forward to another episode again and just like real life we go threw different episodes like you do. I think its very brave of you sharing this with us Whising you wonderfull happy travels together with lots of love❤
I'm glad you're back Ben, I've missed the traveling vicariously through you! I fell too far behind in the last series to ever make up ground, so I'm excited for fresh(ish) start and seeing where your journey takes you. I found your channel when one of your videos made it on the trending page, and I've subscribed since then! Life has taken some crazy turns- i moved out of my parents house, COVID happened, I got engaged, i went back to college and now I'm married. You're always going to be one of my favorite creators no matter what you choose to do, I'm ride or die with you pal! Give my love to Alaska!
Good times 🎉 yes need to kick out some videos. My name is also Ben and I have a 1969 vw camper so I can relate. I have put 10,000 mi on it in the last year in California. 1600 single port

I’ve been married thirty years and she pushes us in our van, a modern Promaster, to keep crossing borders, Ecuador next. It’s possible to find a life partner but boy, a VW doesn’t help in my opinion. Good luck. She seems tough so I think you’ll be fine.

Jeez, relationships are difficult in most normal situations. Spending 24 hours a day with a significant other in a small camper van would test anyone's patience and resolve. My Dad use to joke that he enjoyed going to work just to get away from Mom each day. I'm sure Mom felt the same way. I ran into an old co-worker who retired at 65. I ran into him at a Home Depot where he worked. I said I thought you retired? He looked around then came in closer and said "I really love my wife but.. I just can't spend 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with her. Thus, he got the job to give each other a break. lol. I hope you both have a great adventure and come out the other side still together!

10W-40 is summer oil, Ben! Better is 5W-30, or 0W-30 if you can find it.
They're not in any temperature extremes where it'll really matter. Also, modern oil is very different than the crap available when the van was manufactured
Engine builders said 10-30 would be better for winter conditions but we weren’t supposed to in be stopping in winter conditions 😊
@@KombiLife You need to take that advice with a big grain of salt. They don't get winter in California where the engine builders are, so what would they know about running an engine when there's ice on the ground? 10W-30 is ok, 5W-30 is better.
