I've been playing through every souls game including Elden Ring, Sekiro, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 1, and now Dark Souls 2. People hate Ds2 for two main reasons. The ganks and the boss run backs. The amount of petrified statues and blocked paths are also annoying
would also put hitboxes alongside those 2 main ones
I hate it because of the general ’clunkiness’ and the delay between triggering an action and the action happening…

If you play the original version, pre scholar of the first sin, there are only one, possibly two, petrified statues. And there werent any ganks in the original version because it was wall to wall enemies and invaders that pkayers had to wade through. ‘Scholar’ removed many enemies and invaders and left mostly the ones behind doors.

Hey, Spicy! Nice to see another video so soon. Editing pace seems fine but please ask your editor to not remove the game audio and lower your overlay audio by a bit. It takes you out of the moment when you hear an attack swing or an explosion with no sound effect. Or the fact that the Pursuer boss music was replaced by the Bell Gargoyle music, with no original audio. He should also add relevant memes to the video like George or clips from your previous videos, especially DS1. Anyway, best of luck.

Will do. The video audio was my fault, had an issue with it not recording, but definitely will get the correct boss music playing over their corresponding bosses! More George is always good too!

Hey bro, love the comedic walkthrough, ds2 is an all time favourite of mine a seeing this brings back so many memories, it is really amazing to see someone who has played souls games but hasn’t played ds2 yet. It’s definitely different from the rest and idk man I’m just really happy to see these type of videos, this came up on my recommended videos and honestly I’m having a blast watching this as I’m commenting, thank you so much for posting this it makes me happy and this is probably the first time I’ve smiled in over 6 months keep being you homie peace and love ❤️

You can't really outrange the Lost Sinner's attacks. Her weapon is really long. It works a lot better to roll towards her, and a little to the side

I’m surprised no one said anything about the cloths you get that give you extra souls with every piece equip that can help catch up in levels if need it and I will said it you are doing pretty good for a first run congratulations now I’m excited to see you get even further

I notice how every single person I have ever seen that has ACTUALLY played dark souls 2 either say it is good or ok. Every one.
I have NEVER seen someone playing this game infront of me and saying it’s bad. Half of this hate is just fan base critique-hype and people who have not played it.
It’s far from bad. It’s far from perfect. But it’s not bad.

I played DS1 and DS2 both intensely. DS1 has better areas, art direction and world building, but DS2 is just more fun, has better mechanics, also better lore. If I had to cheese, I'd choose DS2

I loved DS2. Paid no attention to reviews. It's probably the souls game that I put the most hours into.
Thought the community would scare you away from DS 2. Best of luck mate, was honestly one of my favorite games to play and I hope you have a good time too (overall of course, Dark Souls will still be Dark Souls lmao).
OK lets be real! This game is sick anyone hating it hasn't payed SOTFS on PS5. It's a beautiful game I like it more then 1 and 3 TBH its longer then both so more DS content it's prettier graphics wise then 1 and the overall graphic design and outfits are way better then 1 and 3. The level design and layout is so much better then the others too and the simplicity of the weapon system is sick. Only thing the other 2 DS have on it is better bosses but DS2 has some sick and truly fun bosses itself and it's just a GREAT game overall, nothing wrong with it what so ever if you like DS games you'll love this game obviously. It's worth playing today and it will be worth paying in another 50 years. These fromsoft classics are truly timeless and I'm thankful for DS!

Great video as always. DS2 is a great game, I agree that DS1 and DS3 are better, but I still come back to DS2 quite often.
My main problems with DS2 are:
-The quantity over quality of the bosses, there're many of them, but they're forgettable (at least in comparison with the other souls games).
-The connection between levels is the worst of all the games.
-At last, the game would be definitely better without the ADP.
But I still love the Bonefire Astetics and that the enemies stop spawning after a while.
People seems to hate DS2, but I can't understand why. DS2 has it's own ideas, some work and some doesn't but the overall experience is good.
The feeling I get from the community about DS2 is similar to Devil May Cry 2, but these two cases are extremely different. DMC2 is a mediocre game, uninteresting characters, enemies, gameplay and story, I don't think DMC2 is a terrible game, but I don't think it is worth playing. While DS2 has some unique elements you won't find in any other game. When I first played DS2 I was disappointed, but nowadays I appreciate this game more for it's differences rather than the similarities with the other souls games.

I know this is an old video but it's funny how you consistently choose to dodge to the weapon side of the enemies as if that wasn't the most dangerous route to go. (e.g. pursuer fight) haha
Also man the DS2 hate is honestly just tiresome. Yeah the game has flaws, but if you go at it with the expectation that you'll hate it it's gonna be a self fullfilling prophecy. I didn't know shit about these games back then but I played it third after Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1 and I actually liked it the most. Probably still do honestly, but Bloodborne and Sekiro are way better.
DS2 is my favourite soulsbourne, all its little flaws add to the charm of it

The unironic best version of DS2 is Scholar of the First Sin on PS3. It has all DLC and the Aldia stuff but with the level design and enemy/item placement of the OG vanilla DS2 and not the inferior PS4/PC SotFS version
On the hitbox I frames thing. I won't lie, ds2 has the 2nd worst hitboxes of any souls game (demons souls is worse), though its not actually as much below 1 as some think, the actual issue is i frames hiding bad hitboxes. This is why when people treat the hitbox adp complaints as separate I get a little frustrated. So, the reason that i frames exist is that the hitboxes in demon souls are so bad (if you hate yourself play a no i frame original demon souls and see how it goes), that they added them to prevent it. DS1/3/bb all also have a lot of bad hitboxes (again mod out i frames if you hate yourself). 2 was made conceptually under a far longer dev cycle with far more people working on it, they had the idea that they could with that large team and time make all the animations and hitboxes near perfect and thereby change i frames to a mechanic to dodge attacks that the player would not dodge positionally. This was destroyed when due to Japanese's corporate politics (mainly Miyazaki from my research), Resulted in the cycle time being halved forcing them to make the game on current assets in crunch... and they stole half the workforce to re-assign to bloodborne... So rather than having really great hitboxes (and horses, which Miyazaki stole for elden ring along with many other intended 2 mechanics), we got this. If I had a criticism of the devs they should have accepted adp being a dump stat and given up the i frame Idea. It would have been beautiful if they could have gotten it right but they lost out and it makes the game far worse until its leveled to compensate. Like almost all good ideas in 2 though it got shelved because "its in the bad game" rather than "hey if we don't sabotage it this can be good"
Dark Souls II (vanilla) is genuinely better than the OG Dark Souls imo
Don't get me wrong, OG Dark Souls is pretty lit but after Ornstein and Smough it falls off so hard that it genuinely becomes a bad game. The amount of bad bosses in that game are really high (Stray Demon, Capra Demon, Gaping Dragon, Ceaseless Discharge, Centipede Demon, Gwyndolin, Demon Firesage, Nito, Seath the Scaleless, Bed of Chaos, Pinwheel, Moonlight Butterfly are all mid to exceptionally bad bosses)
Dark Souls II also has its bad bosses but because it has a lot more it also has a lot more good or at least interesting bosses. Executioner Chariot for instance is not really a good boss but really cool in its mechanics.
Dark Souls 1 is just looked on more fondly due to nostalgia, and people's immediate reaction to when Dark Souls 2 released was bad due to ADP mostly (there are a few other things but ADP is at the top)
I think Scholar of the First Sin didn't really help Dark Souls 2 either, with its consistent use of gank fights and ambushes, which the original had far less of
If FromSoftware had actually given Scholar of the First Sin a genuine try to improve the base game, it might've been seen more favorably
I even think DSII is better than DSIII, even though the movement and combat in DSIII is faster/better. I think DSIII relies too much on nostalgia and its greyscale washed out graphics eventually just end up boring (Irithyll of the Boreal Valley slaps tho)
Dark souls 1 is dark as shit. That's a major reason why I place it lower than ds2
Bro, you can say DS2 is better than the other two, but don't bring the boss conversation for comparison. DS2 has even worse boss than DS1, like Covetous Demon, Gank Squad, the tiger pets at Frigid Outskirts, those Rats bosses, Prowling Magus, The two Dragonknights etc. DS2 bosses are literally quantity over quality. I can count good bosses in DS2 with 1 hand, and that's including the DLCs. DS3 levels might look grayish 80% of the time, but it suits the theme, and at least the connectivity of the areas makes more sense, unlike DS2.
I personally hated DS2, but after I platinum'd it, I actually liked it. I'll give it point for it's unique lore and great atmosphere.
I'd say I like all three DS around the same level, they have their own strong/weakness points.
@@Tvanon How is Lud and Zallen even in the list of bad bosses? Of all DLC bosses, you chose arguably the (narrowly) second best optional. Lud and Zallen were peak design, but because of the game they were in, were crushed as a favourable boss. Nobody likes their runback which has zero checkpoints, and the durability system unfortunately ruins strength builds.
That said the fight itself is easily the best duo fight in the game, with an hp based mechanic that doesn't overstay it's welcome in the slightest.
Meanwhile almost all DLC bosses outside of Sunken City optional, Queen, and Iron DLC Smelter Demon are considered the saving grace of DS2. That's 6, not including base game yet. Sounds like you've got one big hand.
@@LilyMaeBlossomHow is a boss fight where you just basically duplicate the same boss and put them in the same room considered peak smh. Okay I'll just list 5 bosses that I consider good/great from DS2, other than these 5 I'd put them on mediocre to bad tier; Lost Sinner, Burnt Ivory King, Sir Alonne, Raime and Sinh. If your favorite boss is not one of those, then I consider them to be mediocre at best. Remember, you can have your own opinion.
@@Tvanon There are about as many bad bosses in each game, which is far fewer by % for ds2 than 1. There are more good bosses in ds2 than there are bosses in ds1. You also continue the bullshit of all ds2 critics of selectively ignoring your very criticisms when talking about the first or third game.
Ds2 stands be like oh you know if you just ignore the Shit bosses aside form the dlc, adp, terrible hit boxes, slow healing speed, hp bar getting smaller each time you die, getting hit while dodging, the amount of mobs, ganks and terrible boss run backs, all the delay in between actions makes everything so clunky its actually not all that bad.
Like ok if i ignore every bad aspect of sonic 06 its almost a decent game 🙄
ds 2 "critics" be like "if I lie a lot, turn 1 criticism into 5, and selectively ignore commensurate flaws in the other games I can make it seem like people are stanning for it"
