  • Sit back, relax and tune in for some fishing at Nudgee, Brisbane for flathead on lures! This video has a few different ideas for chasing flathead. I'm posting some footage from a few recent trips (at night, around the mangroves and on the sand flats). The fishing has been slow recently, but I'm still managing to find fish! I'll also add a video to the end screen if you want to see more flathead fishing on the sand flats.
    Small combo
    Lure: BCF Savage gear Mullet Lure 8.5cm Black Gold (first 2 fish)
    Metal lure: Berkley Skid Jig 20 gram (last fish)
    Scent: S-factor scent
    Leader: FC Rock leader approx 12lb
    Line: Diawa J braid 10lb island blue colour
    Reel: Shimano Nexave 2500
    Rod: Shimano Sonic series Lure 7 foot 3-5kg
    Make sure to comment if you have any questions/ comments, all feedback is welcomed!

    Love the content and how you talk about the lures, how you scout the spots and your setup. Would be nice if you took the music off or put it lower though!

      Hey @Henrydamaster, Thank you very much for your feedback mate! I think I’m going to work on being more informative in my videos and to reduce the background music. I’ve had a lot of people reach out to me to reduce the music in the videos - thanks for you feedback. I’ll work on this. Glad to hear you are enjoying the videos overall. Appreciate it mate! :)

      No worries mate, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the tip, I haven’t been up to hays inlet for a bit so I’ll have to head up there soon. Thanks again and good luck with your fishing! Cheers.

      @@nigiessquidgies take few Wrigglers. I was using Squidgy Bloodworm Wriggler 120 mm, on a 2/0 TT jighead 3/8 ounce. Good luck.

      Thanks mate! I’ll try those wrigglers for sure. I use the same 2/0 jig heads but I use the 1/6 ounce ones. Thanks I’ll try that weight. Do you use S-factor on them?

      @@nigiessquidgies Sometime only. I found flatheads mostly reacting to action of lures and tide.

    Great video 👍🏽 😊 once again… hey was it you fishing 🎣 the banks on Tuesday Arvo (yesterday)? If it was, I was the guy on the white boat trolling around for flathead… lol 😆

      Hey @Huy Dinh Vu, that wasn’t me yesterday, however, I’ll keep an eye out for you in the future! I normally wear a chest mounted GoPro and also have a Shimano single strap fishing bag. I might see you in the future mate! How did you go with your trolling? Hopefully you got a few! You could access so many snags and mangroves in a boat! Yew! Thanks heaps mate! Good luck with your fishing.

      Thanks very much mate! Sorry for the late reply. Yes I use S-Factor scent on all of my lures skid jigs, hard bodies and plastics. It’s awesome stuff! Good luck with your fishing.

    I've been to nudgee a few times the last couple years almost exactly where you are and the best I could get was a small bream or two. Tried lures and bait fishing. Must have been the wrong time of day you think? Maybe wrong tide?

    • @nigiessquidgies
      @nigiessquidgies  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey @Nathan Fischer, it’s one of those spots where you need to have everything line up perfectly. The time of day doesn’t matter as much, it’s mainly the tide, it needs to be high and just starting to move out and you need to have bait fish around, this is key. If you don’t have these two things, you won’t get even the slightest nibble. I’ve tried all tides and different times of day. That’s how I know. Also, you need S Factor on your lures. I won’t spend long there, always just an hour or so and then I’ll move to down near the dog park or boat ramp (otherwise you can get stuck here for hours without fish on the bad days), good luck mate! Let me know if you get any good fish there! I have another video there with a few good flathead too. May be worth a look, heaps of bait around that day! Cheers mate!

    Hey Mate, great video. What rides do you find fish the best for Nudgee beach?

    • @nigiessquidgies
      @nigiessquidgies  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate, thanks heaps. The outgoing tide is always best for me. If you are up in the mangrove areas it’s better on the outgoing part of the high tide - just after it peaks. Down on the sand flats and around Nudgee beach it’s better on the last part of the outgoing tide as the sand flats start to open up and you can walk out. Tides are the most important thing for catching fish down there. Good luck!

    Hello if you could design your own lure for 2023. What style and discipline would you make it ?

    • @nigiessquidgies
      @nigiessquidgies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey @madmullet1990, it would definitely be a mullet style lure around 4in long in a white colour and a darker colour. I would also look at designing a shrimp lure 2-3 in long because there are shrimp in all of the rivers and the fish hit those too! Cheers mate! Appreciate it.

    Are you on the eastern side of nudgee? Or did you kayak to the other side and fish the mangroves there?

    • @nigiessquidgies
      @nigiessquidgies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey @Adrian Gjedsted, this is on the same side as the boat ramp and dog park. Just up river from the boat ramp. If you have access to a boat/ kayak I’ve actually heard the other side is REALLY good for flathead fishing! I think the most important thing is the tides. Outgoing is best for me. Good luck mate!

      @nigiessquidgies  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate, yep! Nudgee is my local. Also, I fish a lot around shorncliffe, Brighton, Brisbane river and I’ve been doing some fishing on the Gold Coast (but haven’t been getting many fish down there). Nudgee is my most common fishing spot as I can almost always get fish there.
