Roger, that is an excellent video on catching Flathead. I really enjoy your videos. You make it so easy to understand the best techniques for catching fish. Thanks for another great video!
Refreshing to see you don’t need 10k in Sounders and electric motors to catch a few Roger. Great technique drifting with plastics and dropping a live bait at the same time. 👌 👌 👌
I love how roger is kind and takes these inexperienced fisherman out with him then once out there speaks down to them and speaks condescendingly to them.
Remember fishing on the Mallacoota bar near the entrance just on dusk , a fullish moon was rising. The tide flows in fast about then. Fished with an older even for then (1974) Jarvis Walker schnapper rod. Felt a strike then another , minutes later landedtwo massive flatheads , recall both of them filled the bottom of the bath on the rental shack. 50 years later although rarely fish, still have window of dusk withincoming tide i work with.
I used to catch heaps of Flathead. Now you really have to target them and still don't catch them. They're a sucker for SP's. Plus our local river has been picked clean by netters. Rocky went net free and the netters must of moved here. Luckily we are getting net free zones this year. Nice video mate.
Hahaha just buy a spool of 10p line works great for everything I catch my bait on 15p line and I also have caught big flathead on the same line just get something strong enough to hold the fish not too strong tho
Roger : dave get me your rod ill rig it up with soft plastics Davo : passes the rod with the running sinker and 6/0 hook 😂 Then davo noticed the live bait rod gets a fish . Then davo drops his soft plastic rod straight away without wnding it back hahaha ya funny davo!!!
Great video Roger you remind me of my grandfather(rip) when I was young down at the basin or husky teaching us how to catch lizards a long time before plastics he always used potty’s and worms 🪱
Nice video Roger, you pinpointed the reason they weren't biting that much...water temp is vital to catching flathead. Another good tip is if you see sting rays in your area, you know your in the right local. 👍
@@RogerOsborneFishing When I was working at kingfisher we would either be looking at their holes at low tide or watching them feeding when the tide was up walking to or from the fastcat to work or to home. Amazing every time.
Hi Joel, 90% of the time, boat fishermen fish really close to the shore, certainly casting distance. I have a video coming up purely land based to show how good it is
@@RogerOsborneFishing awesome I'll check it out for sure , Great videos mate , just started fishing recently , getting my first little tinny soon so boat videos will be great , merry Christmas 👍

Nice brag about killing a bunch of big female (breeder) flattys! And if you think the only place to find big flattys is at break walls then you clearly dont know much about them.

Sweet I was just about to go flatty fishin
I remember going out on port phillip bay and dropping a line over the side and catching a flathead every 5 min or so
One of the coolest fish ever. And they cook up so well. Almost a shame they taste so good.
Enjoy your videos

what a ripper of a bloke old dave is 👍
I like the boat, does abybody know what make and model it is?
what size soft plastics were you using?
Dave has a personality for the lounge room
good one
What is your boat set up?
How do I know which type of line is on my Rod? I bought a shimano rod and it was already spooled. It’s kind of green yellow coloured
Hi Ash, Ask the people where you bought it. Can you tell whether it is monofilament line or braid? Do you know the difference?
I think it’s monofilament because when it cuts it’s one thing rather than braided lines

I thought he said he did not go over the same ground interesting
Hi Kim, once you locate the fish then it is good to concentrate in that area. This is a common tactic of Flathead fishermen
