    took a 2013 street bob out for a test ride today. must say it was an awesome ride. was a lil intimidating at first but once I got on it, I got use to it real quick. gr8 ride for sure for a 1st timer Harley rider!!

    I had forward controls put on mine and it made all the difference in the comfort. It is also the best balanced Harley I have had so far.

    This was the most helpful review on the streetbob I've seen so far. Thanx very much for all the details you gave. I'm getting one soon as my first bike. Did it have a smooth start? And did it feel as it was lean heavy during turns? Thx

    @Caleb Dennison: Do you have standard forwards? I am 6ft0 and I don't think they're comfortable at all. You (I) have less control over the bike, I constantly have to hold my legs up otherwise my feet would just land on the ground. I think it looks cool with forward controls but center controls are much more comfortable.

    Cool vid! I just purchased my first bike (2015 Street Bob) in June. I'm looking to get some tunes playing while riding. Are those speakers that your buddy has on his bike, and if so, where did he purchase them from? Thank you!

    Hi XXXDeadhead, thanks for the awsome video! I've been looking around for a first bike to buy and somehow I always end up back at the Harley Street Bob.. my only concern is that I'm 6foot5 and I don't know if that's a good bike for a guy my height. Hope you can help me out with my question. (sorry if I made some spelling errors, I'm from Belgium so English isn't my native language)

    Great ride and review my friend. How does that 96 inch compare to yours? can you really feel a big increase in the power, and how does the power band differ from yours? I would like to move up to a Super glide someday with mids and the 96 cu motor. Although I hear the 103 is really a nice motor also.

    wow thx,have not got the chance to get my butt on a Harley yet,but one,the 883 didn't like the bike, it was set up for someone that is much shorter than I am, working on it so love the bike street bob,super glide and the custom low is some of my wish list but only time will tell,not yet ready for that much $ for twowheels,and my years to go up before the Harley becomes mine for keeps,any thoughts on Harley I can get into,ride safe

    Very good bike, My 2013 FXDBP is my first bike and aside from the show stopper looks of the Big Red Flake paint, the 70's throw back styling gets great reviews.
    Im a first time watcher of your videos, and aside from the constant opinionated view of the Mini Apes(6 times)....not bad video.
    My friend rides an 883 Iron, and when properly ridden, its a bullet!

    As a proud 2013 Street Bob owner, I share grassblade63's sentiments too. I've watched this video a dozen times since I've been snowed in for the last several weeks. Are there any other videos of Gabe's bike? Love your motovlogs...keep up the great job!

    • @XXXDeadhead
      @XXXDeadhead  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, he is in half the vids I've done the past several months

  • @XXXDeadhead
    @XXXDeadhead  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mike - The 1200 is awesome... Only thing that kept me away from that bike was the reduced lean angle from the forward mounted controls... I live in an area surrounded by twisty roads so that was not a good pick for me... If I lived in an area where the roads were straighter - that bike and the large front tire and gas tank are epic!

  • @XXXDeadhead
    @XXXDeadhead  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    sportsterinmet - Not sure I am going to get one anytime soon :) I love my bike, the main thing that seemed to help was the rear tire and the power felt more solid throughout the gear range... This helped with confidence for sure. I love the style of the Sportster but I love everything that the Dyna's have that the sportster don't.

    Great vid, some good info here. I'll be trying out a 2014 with a 103ci motor and RSD 2into 1 pipe next week. If all goes well it may be the replacement for my faithful old 1200 Sporty, although I'll have to change the bars and put progressive shocks and springs. The roads in the UK need good suspension !!

    currently have a sportster, test rode the a 1200 custom, am now renting a 2013 dyna
    super glide for sat & sun, (HD group ride on sun). so far imo, the dyna handles better than sportster, nible, w/ the 96 motor extreme diff. in power, smother ride at hwy speeds, great for 2 up, more dash board bells and whistles, just a great ride , and not that much diffrence in stationary handling, Looks like somebody is going to get one !

  • @dheller777
    @dheller777 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have to agree. I have an 09 Sportster 1200 low. While it is fine for solo riding there is just not enough room for 2 up riding to be cmfortable. My wiffe has a bad back as I do and she needs the support of a backrest which I have. I have a sundowner seat I can"t use unless I change to a detachable back rest as the seat is to wide to fit between the backrest support brackets. Thinking about getting a Superglide inthe future, more power and more room., and much smoother ride.

    • @XXXDeadhead
      @XXXDeadhead  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a big bike (heavy and tall) but it all depends on your size and maturity/capabilities. Dealers will try to push the big bikes because their profits on Sportsters is narrow - my recommendation will always be towards the Street 750/500 or the Sportsters (883/1200)

      He's right even in the slightest back of your mind you can't trust yourself etc go with the smaller ones. Plus whoever says a sporty is for girls deserves a punch in the mouth. On top of that you start of small and get really proficient and then your good to go. I started small and went with the supersports and liter bikes and made the switch to harley and can ride anything after moving up the ladder. While I have buddies where their first bike was a softail and can't ride for shit.

    • @pmh1nic
      @pmh1nic 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would wdd if you like the style of the Street Bob but might think it's a little too much to handle the Sportster 72 might he an option. It's a very easy bike to handle with decent power (1200cc) and some similarity in style.

  • @XXXDeadhead
    @XXXDeadhead  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    dheller777 - Thanks amigo! Overall I felt the power difference - however, my sportster may have more bang per pound of weight, so the difference is felt in the gear range.... In a spot where I need to shift to third, his bike does fine in second.... just more range with the power... would be interesting to do some drag racing with him - quarter mile runs could indicate something... would be fun :)

  • @XXXDeadhead
    @XXXDeadhead  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mike G....imo (my 2 cents) ride the 1200 custom with fat front tire, also try the dyna super glide,I have a xl883, , just rented this past weekend a dyna , went on a 150 mi. group ride
    (dealership sponsered), rode 2 up, the major difference is comfort, smoothness of ride, and a little bigger bike handles the wind less effort . Be careful and make sure of the size bike and what your needs are in a bike, 6 months down the rode ,you won't start to have 2nd thoughts about what you bought.

  • @XXXDeadhead
    @XXXDeadhead  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Brian - I think most of the Harley's are friendly to new riders.... most people can flat foot the bikes. Just make sure you can sit on them and know that you can manage the weight of the bike. I am just under 6' and just over 230lb, and all of the bikes you mentioned would have been fine as a first bike for me.

      jcorps3381 I'm not trying to be negative but, I test rode one last summer 14 Street Bob. I am 6'1 215 LBS. with a 32 inseam. Would need forwards controls and an extended reach seat to be comfortable.. Every stop sign, I was just having trouble bringing my foot up to the mid controls. If you snatch one up, it's gorgeous, just be sure to test ride it so you know exactly what to change before you leave the dealer. I am choosing to stay with my 08 Midnight Warrior for the power to $ to physical size ratio. Check out the Raider from Yamaha.. 113CI for less $ than the 103 Bob.

      Every person will feel different on every bike - some cramped, others not... Bikes are also like this, some attractive at lower prices some not - though, the raider does look badass

    I've got no problem with Burly 14 inch apes on my sportster 48. I'm 5' 11 and its Actually more comfortable and i can control the bike better.
    Bars come up to the shoulder then the handles bend a little down

      Nice - I'm tempted to do something similar with my bike

    Fill the mini apes with lead shot. Will deaden the vibration that numbs your arms and hands. Old school tip.

    I want a Street Bob or Dyna Super Glide Sport. Only problem is I'm a beginner. XXXDeadhead Would you recommend buying the bike you want or one a beginner could handle easily?

      Buy the bike you feel comfortable on and the one you like - trust your gut. If you can handle the weight of this bike at a stop and think you did well in the MSF training or whatever training is available in your area then this bike will be fine for you.

      My fist bike was a street bob I am glad I got it not too big not small I am 5'6 so for me it made all the sense to get a bike this bike I was gonna get the road king but it was to big for me specially at a beginner level same thing with the softail deluxe so I settle street bob and I am glad if you any taller than me over 6 feet then you might wanna consider something with more power and size like a fat boy or any softail or bagger,,,hope it helps

      Yeah, Sportster or a Street Bob are great choices if under 6'

      +XXXDeadhead Yeah I've narrowed it down to either a Street Bob or an FXR-SP

    Like the Street Bob, like a sportster on steroids. Mid controls too, although I'd probably change the bars for something lower (as I shall be doing on my 883 soon, the ape's are ok, but they are a little tiring on a long run.
