That's what I find so surprising about it. If someone just wants to be an outlaw I'm not gonna stop them but green jeans will eventually catch up with them. Everyone I talked to in the marsh that day said they thought shooting light was 30 minutes before sunrise though. It's just hard to believe that so many people don't read the regs.
I have followed @hokeoutdoors for awhile now, and I got to say he's probably my favorite TH-cam waterfowler. No "Let's Go" a million times, has respect for his query, and makes an effort to retrieve wounded birds. Definitely a top act.
Hey man. I have got to say thank you from all of us who appreciate someone who doesn’t sky bust. Not taking that goose was a great call! Looking forward to your other vids this year.
@@HokeOutdoors No. Waiting for a little cool down for the geese. You know Virginia….90 degree waterfowl hunting not high on our list but I guess warm temps traditionally go with early goose. Hope to go soon.
@@HokeOutdoors there are birds down for sure. Have not put eyes on to the farm I hunt yet, but as long as we have some water, we should get some when the shooting starts.
Nice season opener! Looking forward to more videos this season. It was nice to meet you at the Waterfowl Expo in Oshkosh. I was the guy from California with Chief the black lab. I'll like how you didn’t let Leroy finish the retrieve when he broke.
It was a pleasure getting to meet you as well! Really appreciate you coming by the booth and the seminar as well. I hope you and Chief have a great season this year, you'll have to keep me updated on how it goes!
that was a fun MN opener man, we had a new dog in our blind as well. She took to it just like Leeroy. Glad to watch another video of yours! glad to see you're in MN doin more stuff.
Leroy did awesome! Good to see you back in Minnesota! People around me were blasting early down in here Southern MN as well! By waiting until legal time I only ended up with two and my nephew got two. Tons of ducks around…it’s going to be a great season! Loved the video 👍
I really enjoyed that video thanks for posting that so many good things going on in your video from spread to dog handling.. stuck at work but my soul was there in the hunt.. I want a dog so badly but my work schedule doesn’t allow me to own one now but my friends send me videos and bring their dogs on several hunts each year. I hate losing birds I can’t find in high grass it really sucks not finding a dove or pigeon
Thanks David, I appreciate you watching! Hope the Nodak duck opener is a great one for you this year and I hope you can get a dog someday as well. It adds a whole other element to waterfowling that is hard to beat!
Nice video and good job Leroy Glad you got Leroy out for his first duck hunt. Are you running a ecollar on Leroy? I don't know why there is NO TEAL season in SD. Have had a couple of great am.dove hunts and out again tomorrow morning.
Thanks Don! I am running an e-collar on Leroy, thankfully the only time I needed to use it on this hunt was when he broke that one time. I think SD doesn't have a teal season because y'all have so many mallards and spoonies over there. Instead they go with the 2 extra blue-wings during the first couple weeks of season which is the other option for states besides having a teal season
Quick question, what settings do you have on your gopro to get such good footage on low light right at first shooting light? Best duck hunting channel by far
Enjoy watching your videos. Just starting to do some kayak paddle hunts and just got my new ascend h12. Curious on where Leroy rides and how he does to and from the stand. Any information will be awesome thanks in advance
Thanks Tyler, I appreciate you watching them! Leroy rides behind me, I did it a few times with him as a puppy so he does really well riding back there now! Let me know if you've got any other questions, always happy to help
Much appreciated! It's definitely something I'm very mindful of! Thankfully none of the algae in this marsh is blue-green algae but we do get it on some of the lakes around here during the summer.

Because he left the stand before I said his name, also known as "breaking". I didn't want to reward him for doing that so I went to pickup the bird myself
Make it make sense? Ok easy, expensive calls usually sound a hell of a lot better then cheap calls. I’m not saying the job can’t be done with a cheap call it definitely can. But nowhere near the sound quality of an expensive call. So why not?

I 100% agree on all three of your points and if you watch my other videos you’ll see that I water swat plenty. The only reason I jumped that bird was because Leroy had broke when I shot a previous bird on the water so I was trying to avoid that happening again
Thank u for setting a good example and waiting for legal shooting light. Sad a lot of folks can’t read regulations.

90% chance of crippling vs 10% chance of killing it stone dead at that range
