A bonus to your tetris mnemonic, think about the tetris pieces falling into place just like how reflexes drop with tetrodotoxin Also, for cigua toxin, I changed it to "Open your mouth to smoke a hot cig on a cold day" to remember the temp reversal
I had a mild case of ciguatera once after catching and eating moray eel in tropical waters. I made a full recovery a few days later and didn't need medical help as such, but I distinctly remember the symptons of hot and cold reversal, as well as some muscle pain and tingling, diarrhea, and overall weakness. So yeah, be aware that that exists.
I've had scombroid multiple times. Thought I had developed a fish allergy. Nope. Gotta be honest though, a food poisoning from freaking histamines and mimicking an allergic reaction is insanely cool and weird

I suspect I had Scombroid Poisoning from raw sea bass tartare last night. 00:15h after eating: I started feeling hot and nauseous. 01:00h~ Intense vomiting. Almost non stop. Hot and cold flushes. 04:00-05:00h~ Diarrhoea. Ran to the toilet and could barely sit. Fell down the toilet after doing half the deed and frantically tried to take off my shirt. Felt intensely hot, confused, couldn’t breathe for what felt like an eternity but was maybe 30-60 seconds. Thought I was dying. I was losing consciousness. I tried to get into the bathtub and fell in head first, ran a cold shower on myself. Felt better a minute or 2 later, then just laid in the bath and ran cold water on myself for like 20 mins. After that it was just diarrhoea. Lasted less than 24h. Happened in Greece on holidays. Was seconds from calling an ambulance. Strange experience.
Ahhh…the good bread-n-butter cases covered by the USMLE. Can’t tell you the number of cases of ciguatoxin cases most docs will see,…although my guess is ….zero. But exam writer’s like a good basic science/physiology tie in.
