In reference to the question on what science would do during red alert, I would recommend looking at real life Navy procedure on what crew does during general quarters. I think there is something where non combat rolls report to damage control station and help with damage control. it seems like procedures for spaceships would evolve from ocean navy.
Do I remember correctly that you had a kind of operating system for the ship? If so, I'd love to see how you worked on that. I'm also wondering about the flexibility of the stations on the bridge.
