Thank you for a wonderful review of the Rotring 600. As I was watching your video, in my hand the green Rotring 600 that I had recently purchased from Cult Pens (UK), was being twirled, and being appreciated further. Mine is also a 0.7 mm sized, and your justification in favor of using this size was so well articulate that I felt totally vindicated for my preference. I think you gave a wonderful disquisition on the merits and demerits of using a conventional wood pencil, and also some well considered remarks on the advent and usage of the mechanical pencil. A design classic, and a carefully engineered tool which has won admirers and enthusiasts on a global scale, and is yet to be subsumed by the ephemera of the numerous designs that are introduced the world over by so many manufacturers, must be something that transcends its functional use! Your love for such objects captures that transcendence! Please accept my sincere regards from Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Great video. Well structured and edited. I found it uncanny how you answered questions i mediately as soon as I thought of them i.e. what kind of paper is he using, and why use a 0.7mm
Pen when 0.5mm is more prevalent.

I used to loathe mechanical pencils. I'm not sure if it was the pencil itself or the lead but I could not manage to write more than a half dozen words before the lead would snap. When I visited the MUJI store in Toronto this past summer (MUJI is a Japanese import store), I was in stateionery heaven; I found plenty of wonderful pens and pencils and notepads and among them was a "low center of gravity mechanical pencil" which remarkably resembles the Rotring 600. The main exception being the plastic barrel of the pencil. It has that machined metal grip at the end, and it even has the indicator for the lead gauge. Needless to say, I'm really looking forward to giving high quality mechanical pencils a shot at changing my mind.

Give the Pentel Sharp Kerry a shot, looks like a premium pen but is a mechanical pencil.

I got the 0.5, partly because that’s what my office has in the supply closet! I’m used to 0.5 and 0.7 in mechanical pencils and I enjoy both.

Had a .5 pentel in black for a long time but dropped it one too many times on the tip. Nice to have a pencil with no rubber when u are working with oil based coolants.

Like their packaging. Reminds me of Lamy.

What I don't like is the eraser cap being hollow (having a hole) on the top instead of being solid.
Also the clutch cover / inner thread should have been made out of metal as well, like the rest of parts.
Other than that, this is my top #1 and I love it.
