This is the best solo on this tune by far. Kurt's solo is divine throughout. Imaginative, soulful, straight from the heart combined with extraordinary skills. So inspired. Rhythm section also helped create this for sure. I listened to this particular recording on my mp3 player for years, then on youtube, at least 50 times if not more. Always gets me going.
He followed it pretty darn good. Bernstein played less notes but he is very melodic and every note "counted". Rosenwinkel has a great version of this tune with the Peter Beets Trio: th-cam.com/video/CA7XTQcriy8/w-d-xo.html
Kurt Rosenwinkel -- guitar
Peter Bernstein -- guitar
Matt Penman -- bass
Bill Stewart -- drums
It saddens me that this extraordinary music alone is understood and appreciated by so few people.
BIll Murray said it best in Groundhog Day: "Rita, people are morons."
