For anyone curious about the fireplace, there is a way to make the fire set properly in the repositioned, parallax fireplace. You'll want to copy/paste the fire animation into a large gate file with the "!$" in front of the file name in the characters folder. That allows a six-tile window for the event sprite instead of a one-tile window. You have to adjust and set the fire in between the bottom and top tiles, and then use that as the event sprite with the same movement animation. I was able to place my fire properly in the fireplace using that method. If anyone knows of a simpler method, feel free to share.
AHAHA, It was like 3 seconds and I hoped on one would notice. The fireplace is actually on the correct tile but when I added in the fire event, I thought it was still like MV, so when I was recording this I was hoping. Ooppps. . . No one will notice o.O
This looks awesome! Thank you. I am still learning stuff with rpg maker and kind of just design a few things right now to learn things to get a handle on it. I sometimes forget you can make maps more personalized by using ps. I will take what was learned to try and make a better map next time. Thank you again!
Very impressive! Looking forwards to more of these episodes as I learn the basics. I hafta say though... the original map had cracks in the carpet and walls like it was supposed to be more dilapidated. That aspect got lost in your much more luxerious and lived in map.
I was in two minds about this as well. On one hand yeah, there were cracks and exposed bricks so I was also thinking that, but then when looking at the dinning room and kitchen it was well stocked with lots of food on the tables. I made the executive decision to re design it as lived it, knowing that if it was indeed dilapidated, it would be like a 10 min fix.
@@LvLUpDesign Considering you didn't really know the reason for the cracks and the bricks showing, I believe the redesign was good as, at some point, all those points would have eventually been fixed in the game with how things would have progressed.
Map doctor sounds like a wonderful series, still working on replicating the stuff in the playe bedroom video (copy first then my own stuff later for me) but glad that the map doctor is taking off. No time to watch this at the moment but from past experiences it will be educational.
Yeah, If people start submitting some of their maps, I'll be able to make it a regular series on the channel. Although as I stated in this video, this was a LARGE map so I'll probably work with smaller maps in the future.
Can you do (or have you done) a tutorial like this with more emphasis on Photoshop ? I understand what's going on in these map doctor videos hut very new to Photoshop itself. THANKS!! (And keep the great work 👍)
Hey Mitchell, Thanks for the support. My Experience with RPG Maker only goes as far back as VX so that's really all I can speak to, the only parallax tutorial I could find for RM2k3 was in Spanish, (I'm unfortunately not fluent.) I also don't have the RTP for 2k3 so I'm not sure If I'd be able to, but if you'd like to submit your map, I might have the facilities in the future to be able to do it for you and I'll let you know if that happens.
actually, can't u use player map id, and set tresholds in comon event to control bgs? ex, if player.mapX>50, then if player mapY>28 then bgsvolume = 75% would need constant map id check, but would lessen use of events (you can specify each map and each bgs individually)

I'm super glad you liked the edit!
That was so cool with a sound touch ngl
Don't forget if you want one of your maps to be featured in one of these videos then send it through to lvlupdes@gmail.com

I don't know about a plug-in but you could set event to check region ID and set a variable equal to region ID then play sound effects as appropriate
Makes it like two of them rather than a bunch
16:20 I'm pretty sure Galv has a plugin for that.
i know the Qaudio plugin that can play sounds when you near by sound source. It's not about regions, but also suitable
Great work as always dude! I love watching these
Thanks for the comment. Glad you loved the video. This one was a bit long, hopefully the future videos are a bit shorter.
Keep up the good work! Learnt a lot from your videos.
Glad you're enjoying them!
Genius. Nice work
I don't know why the hell this super-epic-useful guide has so few likes *)
So adding my own ⭐👨🚀🌈

Your channel is seriously a gem. Thanks for all of the time you've given us! It does not go unappreciated. Also: may I submit RM2k3 maps?

@@LvLUpDesign Awesome - thanks.
outside of the fire looking likes it's not in the fireplace it looks good.

with an expensive photoshop sub and 5 years you could do this too!
You could also use Gimp 2.0, Photopea and a myriad of other free software out there.
like your content, but this one is hard to watch as it switches colours way to quickly. due to the playing speed of the "montage"
Yeah, the map was way too big. I'm trying to only do shorter maps so I don't have to speed it up so much.
