Another way to do something similar is to use yarn that matches your hair and don't do the extra wrap at the end. That way, it's hard to see the "tape"(yarn) and people will wonder how you did it. It holds the hair really well and doesn't need bobby pins. The texture from the yarn helps hold the hair well, too. I've worn it for a whole week straight at a campout, sleeping in it too(with no pain from pins). Got flyaways, etc but my hair stayed off my neck and relatively clean.
I feel so lucky to live in an era where I get to watch independent film makers share their hobbies with the world. I loved your video! You inspire my own style.
Your original hair taping video was actually how I found you! Every time that I've worn my hair like this I've gotten around 5 million compliments lol.
Love this and I gotta share... Try this one. Wet hair or dry Part hair Lie ribbon over the crown like a headband Now just do Dutch braids braiding in the ribbon Flop braids any which way and tie ribbon. It’s insane how strong this is with my 32 inches of hair. Only a few pins and if it’s wet it will hold for 8 hrs. And you could still wrap braids with pearls or ribbon pre tying It’s crazy good
You give me fairytale vibe whenever I watch your video. I'm also a Vlogger & love your every uploads. This one is so cute. It will look so good on a floral skirt in a summer afternoon watching the sunset 💕💕
Honestly when I try this I think stitches uneven or not they're staying in! I can't imagine having to constantly undo all of it, you're such a trooper!
Been doing this hairstyle when I am out with my Renaissance reenactment group. My mom does my taping leaving a short tail on the back bottom and then the longer part is wrapped on the front and tied with the short tail in a knot and then tucked under. Hair taping is the main hairstyle of the time, the frescoes by Francesco del Cossa at Palazzo Schifanoia in Ferrara show many women with taped hair in many nice variations. Portraits of Simonetta Vespucci show more elaborate hairstyles but I don't think they were much used back in the days. Many portraits show coifs or hair taping
@@user-jy3zl2vp4b the first time I had a 5 meter ribbon, so I braided the hair and began doing the taping with the whole length. Once this was done, I saw how much ribbon I needed with my hair, so I left just a little bit more and then cut the ribbon. So I would say 2,5 meters, considering if you want the ribbon to run across the front of the braid as well or not.
*Assassin's Creed has entered the chat* Loved this! I like the fact that you didn't curl your hair. My hair is as thin as yours and knowing that you could do it in your hair while straight, showed me it's possible to do it on my own hair :)
I find taping - for a less dramatic look with embroidery thread in close to your hair color - far more comfortable and stable than a thousand pins. I don´t really know why this is no longer a thing, it´s great for hiking or riding!
Gramercy / thank you so much lovely and marvelous Loepsie for this magnificent video -& glowing arkenhearth-jewel from the most mirthful folks' renaissance chateau.
This is so pretty, and surprisingly, seems less hard/complicated than I expected. Hopefully, with some practice, I will be able to pull this off. Thank you so much for sharing.
Landed on this video after struggling to find a painless updo. Since I’m in india, the weather is soaring above 45 degrees and I’ve only recently leaves about protective hairstyles other than a claw clip. I wanted a hairstyle that I could do once a day and with that I could also lie down and take a nap as well, but buns and updos full of pins and sticks hurt and are hasslesome on my sensitive scalp. I hope this one works 🩷
I think my hair will be long enough to do this in another 6-ish months! Maybe less. It looks super pretty and elegant, and I can see picking different pretty ribbons for it. Seems fun!
Wish we were back then. I kind of like the 1940's and 30's Hedy Lamarr hair dos even more...though a gold hair band is really cool too. I like authentic german and austrian clothing so I have weird taste.
Just curious, Lucy, have you researched Dutch hair styles through the ages? That might be interesting. is there a difference in hair in different parts of Europe? (historically speaking)
This video just popped up on my recommended and solved a completely unrelated thing that had been gnawing at me. I've been watching a lot of The Magnificent Century, lately, and I couldn't put my finger on why I thought I'd seen Mirimah somewhere before. It's because you're a dead ringer for Pelin Karahan
Wrap the end with some tape to keep it firm. Then use your fingers to guide the ribbon through. It’ll be a little tougher, but should work. Hope this helps.
Can you try Africans hair threading.? Eve Mafupa-Natural Sisters and Chide Loves You here on TH-cam have examples of what I’m talking about. It think it would be cool to watch.
I feel terrible about my hair. I lost a lot of it when I was young due to an infection. When I see the top of my head it seems I'm looking at an old person's hair.
YASSS, THIS IS MAH JAM!

Oooo I'm going to try this

My mom would do this for my sister and I when we went to RenFair! It's super comfy!
Definitely trying this for the renn fair!
Lovely Hairstyle ❤ I'm Italian and I'm so happy that someone appreciates my culture and our fashion ❤

Just imagine this:
"Mum, i need a needle from you."
"For what do you need a needle"
"Uh... Nothing... Just want to try a mideval hair style." 😂
it's called RENAISSANCE hair, you clearly weren't listening 😂😂😂 (just joking, no hate)
Very tempted to do this hairstyle for the next ball I'll go to, once this pandemic had calmed down, and match the ribbon with my dress :)
Honestly when I try this I think stitches uneven or not they're staying in! I can't imagine having to constantly undo all of it, you're such a trooper!

Since you are so familiar with this hair style.....how can you gauge the length of the ribbon needed? Thanks in advance.

It’s sooo feminine and flattering. Adore it!

I think she said she wore extensions when doing that. I also have quite thin hair, maybe not enough to do this without extensions.
With extensions yes, without not.
I just watched your older video on renaissance hair taping a few weeks ago. glad you used an actual blunt needle this time!
I love watching your hair videos so much! You're always so upbeat, and soothing to listen to. I don't even have hair, and I will watch every one!
I'm so missing the Renaissance Faires, but this really helped :) THANKS!
So pretty! This style flatters you very much!! Love it!
U look like a fairytale princess 😍😍👸💕will definitely try 😊😊
That is a lovely summer hairstyle.
This is absolutely gorgeous!
Incredible! I have quite long hair and it can be a nighmare so will definately try this to keep it under some kind of control!

But would a thread have as much hold?
Can you please try to recreate Dutch XVII century hairstyles? They are very close to this one but have some extraodinary special features
Oh My Goodness This Hairstyle Suits You SoMuch Lucy "Beautiful" 🤗
I love this look on you!! It's perfection. Honestly, you never disappoint.
That's a beautiful hairstyle. Thank you for showing it.💙💜💖

Gramercy / thank you so much lovely and marvelous Loepsie for this magnificent video -& glowing arkenhearth-jewel from the most mirthful folks' renaissance chateau.

This would be so cute in the spring and summer!!! If I ever grow my hair out long enough I am definitely trying this.

Got to say u got amazing taste!

I love you so much from Egypt ♥️♥️🇪🇬
How long was the ribbon that you used in the end?
Just curious, Lucy, have you researched Dutch hair styles through the ages? That might be interesting. is there a difference in hair in different parts of Europe? (historically speaking)
stunning!!
Looks great 😊
Any suggestions where i can get such a flexible neadle from?
I wasn't able to find one yet. Greetings
I found mine at Wal-Mart in the knitting section. I got a pack of 3 for $2.00 CAD
Beautiful
I will never have long enough or thick enough hair for this, but I absolutely watched the whole video 😂

Your hair tutorials are the best on the internet. Greetings from Poland :)

You put so much efforts,So pretty✨✨✨✨
Any suggestions if I don’t have a needle? Could I tie the ribbon to a pencil or would that be too thick?
Wrap the end with some tape to keep it firm. Then use your fingers to guide the ribbon through. It’ll be a little tougher, but should work. Hope this helps.
@@AlexJReil thanks!
This is so pretty!
Hey loepsie u are looking gorgeous ❤️❤️😘
*eyeballing my ribbon collection*
That looks gorgeous on you! So lovely! Where do you get your extensions from? I'd love to try this, but my hair is not long enough anymore.
This is so pretty! I think my hair is almost long enough to try this 😌

Brilliant video
Stunning. 🤗🤗💜💙💚

If you want hairstyles for very long hair check out Torrin Page's videos. Her videos are on the longer side but her explanations are fantastic.
Holy fuck. If i had known, i might still have mermaid hair.

Please don't refer to your viewers as "guys". It's not gender neutral and we aren't all men.
The hairstyle is gorgeous!
You look prettier without the bangs and hair away from face.
AQ! Just Tie another white ribbon to the first ribbon to create a longer affect...🥰🤩🫡🫶👍
