That's what everyone was saying when aew first started about Excalibur and his mask.. but then Excaliburs feelings got hurt and he was telling Regal how it's a big cultural sign of respect amongst luchadores.. as if Regal didn't know that, and Excalibur wears it thinking people know who he is when realistically nobody has ever heard of him, period.

    There is something in Regal's demeanour; calm, cool, collected but not in the slightest bit boring, which, added to his humility and appreciation of those who came before him, and how much he's willing to give back, that makes me think he'd be a genuinely good world leader.

    HUGE fan of Regal; feel like I've been a fan for nearly 30 years. Being billed from Blackpool, when I live in Blackpool UK, instantly put him in my "I hope he wins!" category unless he was against one of my absolute favourites.
    When he left NXT I was relieved because I'd given up on NXT LOOONG before then; and figured it was a matter of time he'd sign with AEW.
    Now he's left AEW, I'm gutted. Some of his best work for sure. Elevated Wheeler, elevated MJF further, helped elevate Danny Garcia, all whilst pushing the careers of 3 established guys AND entertaining fans with Excalibur.
    Going to miss him. I hope to God that (along with it being in AEW) the BCC somehow continues in NXT too, similar to Bullet Club and Impact.

  • @kuddlmuddl8924
    @kuddlmuddl8924 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    This is so interesting in hindsight. Talking about AEW, his sole focus is on the BCC and the connection to the people in it. He's careful not to put the company itself over too much and it's really a vast difference to the way he's talking about some of the NXT stuff in the beginning.

    William Regal is one of my favourite people in wrestling.
    As a wrestler, an onscreen character, and as a person. Hearing him talk here confirms the latter.
    I like that he didn't talk disparagingly about WWE, even when he wasn't working for them. I know a lot of that is personal (Vince effectively saved his life by putting him through rehab at a time WWE didn't really do that, plus he is super close friends with HHH), but also classy.
    He's an asset to whoever he works for, whether it's WWE or AEW.
