Absolutely beautiful! Glad you have plans to use it and not let it sit and collect dust. Americans built things to last a lifetime once upon a time. Looks like this will last another lifetime (or more)! Great job keeping the story of this stove's life intact and embracing the beauty and character this stove has rightfully earned. Take care and good luck with your cooking!
I cut a piece of steel diamond plate to line one of my woodstoves. I was not happy with the draw of the stove so I lined the inside of the box to reduce the inside volume of the stove box. I also used fire-caulk on the inside seams to control leakage of air and smoke. It Works fine.. I haven't used it in a few years. If we get enough cold weather I hope to fire it up this winter. I will have to check the box for leaks and run a brush through the pipe. Thanks for the video.
I have heard that spray-painting (in any form) is a fairly recent innovation, so I expect painting the stove by brush is more period accurate anyway. For myself, I would prefer a smooth top (it would make for easier cleaning), though making it smooth is easier said than done (and I can certainly appreciate your reasons for leaving it that way). All in all, that is a fantastic looking stove! Nicely done, sir!
Great job! Wondering if you were able to reuse most or all of the original screws and such or did you have to fine substitutions and what ever happened with the firebox. I have just purchased an old Stewart stove in pretty good shape other than just pieces in the firebox and not really sure what the original set up and structure was supposed to be. Any recommendations for resources?
Hey brother kick ass job on that old cast iron stove I have a TH-cam channel I just restored a 100 year old Dutch oven And I love that kind of stuff awesome job did you ever shoot a video of it working. Take care Bryan (Little Art)
I bet you I got the grade for it. Because I have a stove at my mothers and I have to grade the fancy grade that go across it. There wasn’t a box like 24” x 18” I’d say in about 12 inches high and my unit got sold and see only thing I had on my mothers.
I am a wood stove person have been all my life just put a new stove in the living room love it
Sieht super aus. Hast du gut gemacht. 👍👍👍
cool project! its great to see "normal" people restoring things with more common tools.

Did you ever find the shaker grates and line the firebox?
This looks so much like the Glenwood I just brought home...also made in Taunton, MA!

I reused as many as I could but found replacements for the rest.
Nice job!
Did you use any heat type caulk or any type of seals on doors for smoke leaking?
You still need grates and fire brick in the firebox
Can we see it working.

And not all stoves were painted from the factory some were just oiled like the gentlemen stated
You are going to regret using paint on the top of that stove. It will burn off and smoke like mad
He could have used a stove polish to bring it back to life.
Take Coca-Cola and pour over it and it said in about 15 minutes or emergent in Coca-Cola and then go back and clean it off it comes right off
