ULTIMATE BIKE RACK SYSTEM. MORE BIKES. LESS SPACE

  • The Ultimate Bike Rack System takes the best of the simple garage hook and makes bike storage better by putting those hooks on sliders. Which means more bikes in less space.
    It also means this storage system makes it easy to pull out the bike I want because I can slide the others to the side.
    Easy to store MORE of your bikes. Easy to access ALL of your bikes.
    The materials to make the Ultimate Bike Rack System run about $238 , so it's definitely not the cheapest DIY rack system but for storing 8 bikes it's whole lot less than SteadyRack (A great system) which would run $650 to store 8 bikes and probably take up more room. The Ultimate Bike Rack System is sure to impress your friends. Especially if they're fun-hogging, dirt-bags like all my besties.

    I love this. Ugh, i just dropped $400 on steady racks the other day. I'd love this option as it seems more flexible but in my garage, it's such a high ceiling I'd have to figure out a way to bring an overhanging shelf out with enough support to hold the bikes. Hmm...got me thinking though... What were those peg boards? Where were they from? I need me some of them to hang helmets!

    • @JoyOfBike
      @JoyOfBike  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I dropped a shelf from the ceiling too. Works great for gear bags. I have a metal storage box shelf i got at Home Depot in the garage It’s rated for 600lbs. The rail could tie into that shelf too. 300lbs of bike and 300lbs of gear.

      @@JoyOfBike how high is your ceiling? Mine is literally like over 15ft high lol

    • @JoyOfBike
      @JoyOfBike  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@gregoryjhickmanIt's 8 foot. Man I'd do a ladder and loft space above the bikes perhaps. The pegboards are on Etsy and the hooks are my design and you can download the and 3d print them from my thingaverse page.

      I got the pegboard off Etsy. I designed a jumbo pegboard hook in CAD and printed them out. If you search my name of jumbo pegboard hook on Thingaverse you will find them.

      Big U-bolts with one leg cut off and covered in shrink tube works great with either setup and can be properly threaded into the "trolley" (keyword you should search for uni-strut roller things you need"). Unistrut will end up being about half the price.

    This is superb, thanks for sharing. Between four teenage boys, wife and myself, we have MANY bikes out in the garage. I’ve tried a ton of storage solutions and until now found the best to be a simple 2x board run between two vertical posts slightly above saddle height. Then you just lift the bike a few inches and rest the horn of the saddle on top of the board. Simple, cheap, tidy and effective; however with a bunch of bikes, they do get crowded together. I am going to take the same span in my garage and run a hanging-sliding rack as in this video, should work great.

    Awesome idea, love it! I'm using static hooks on 24" ctr joists. This would increase capacity. 😎 I didn't hear it on the vid, or anyone mention that the bikes are alternating front/rear tire up. This allows more bikes as seats & rear tires can nest together. Brilliant!
    Familiar w/ barn door track, as I used them to DIY bifold garage doors & keep my overhead clear for storage.

      You can also alternate hook heights to get bar clearance, or road/MTB bikes. The road bikes aren't mine obviously.
