I was there for that concert, my very 1st! "Give in to ancient noise, take a chance on a brand new dance, twist away the gates of steel!", indeed! A rushed but magical event in an intimate venue. We were so lucky they played at d PT. Just over an hour and then: "Goodnight, Petaluma!" came all too soon. But yeah: a mighty fine experience.
Thank you, Nicholas Viau, for posting!

How this only has 391 views is beyond me. It should have at least 391,000 views!

Oh my word! I was at this show, watching one of my favorite bands at the time! Blew me away! Saw them couple of years later in Santa Rosa - still brilliant performance! Some of the best live shows I've ever seen!

(Later in the show...) It's so cool to see them rocking out on guitar and bass performing their older stuff as opposed to just rocking more with the keyboards! "Hey Spuds, do you want more?" (audience cheers) - love it! Thanks again to Nicholas Viau for posting this excellent concert footage of DEVO at the Phoenix Theater in Santa Rosa! They also played in Sonoma County more recently at the Veteran's Memorial Building here in Santa Rosa CA.

Wow, can't believe DEVO played at The Phoenix Theater in Petaluma! Only ever been to one show there: Frank Black, back in th3 1990s. But, wow, DEVO played at the Phoenix while I was in Jr. High? F-ing amazing. If only I had known, I would gone fo' sho'. I loved DEVO so much back then. They were, and are, amazing, although these days I don't listen to them often. Thanks to Nicholas Viau for posting this. Now if only I could find a video of Frank Black and the Catholics playing at the Phoenix Theater in the late 90s!

Went to the show in Vancouver that was on Aug 13, 1980 at the Kerrisdale arena where I played some minor hockey. Just graduated HS and had a blast at the concert.

What I liked about DEVO was that they put on a performance - lights, costumes, stage moves - everything. Kind of refreshing after a decade of dissipated rock stars and disco. Anyone from the Bay area remember the Tubes? Same thing - crazy, over the top stage shows. Not a lot of people appreciated DEVO - but DEVO-tees know what I'm talking about. We're all Spud Boys!
    And DEVO made great music!!!

I was at this show! They were great then and they're still within my top 20 favorite bands.

I was lucky enough to have been there too, at the tender age of not-yet-13 for this mind-blowing event. We snuck in through the back, past the touring bus and assorted crew, through what passed for the green room and the infamous Phoenix Theater refrigerator from which beers were being passed out (beer which I would years later partake of myself during my short but sweet stint as a roadie) - no huge feat, but surprisingly easy to get in and wow, there was not a lot of space backstage. Point being, we exited the backstage area onto the main floor just as the show began and it was an amazing experience. The entire time it seemed like a fast-paced new-wave dream. I couldn't believe they were playing the tiny Phoenix (and later, the Veteran's Memorial building as well) in lil' ol' Sonoma County. Over the years, I've appreciated better-known performers including intimate venues like The Phoenix Theater as part of their tour stops, even after The Luther Burbank Center FTPA was a thing. Like, for example, Frank Black and the Catholics but the list of such bands is long. Anyway: pretty good f-cking show and a young person could do a lot worse for their first "big concert" event. Glad we all made it to see DEVO as they were breaking big. Great show!
