    •••••
Walter Jerry Payton (July 25, 1954 - November 1, 1999) was an American football running back who played for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL) for thirteen seasons. Payton was known around the NFL as "Sweetness". A nine-time Pro Bowl selectee, Payton is remembered as a prolific rusher, once holding records for career rushing yards, touchdowns, carries, yards from scrimmage, all-purpose yards, and many other categories. He was also versatile, and retired with the most receptions by a non-receiver, and had eight career touchdown passes. He was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame that same year, and the College Football Hall of Fame in 1996. Hall of Fame NFL player and coach Mike Ditka described Payton as the greatest football player he had ever seen-but even greater as a human being. - Wikipedia

When Walter left this world, I did shed a lot of tears. He was and always will be a great person AND a great player. I don't think I will ever shed a tear for any other athlete.. this man was a legend and an inspiration to all of us

    Walter payt.'s goal strategy:
    1. Know your bigger goal!
    2. Make it smaller goals e.g. each season achieve or attempt to achieve a small goal.
    3. Work toward your goals.
    4. Be relentless.
    5. Winning is doing your best regardless of the scoreboard.
    6. Focus on the game.
    7. Achieve the hundreds and thousands before thinking of millions.

My favorite RB of all time bar none!! He was an even better person than a football player- a true gentleman off of the field with a community conscious mindset. I can't believe that the NFL wouldn't let this man into their NFL ownership club when he made an attempt to buy a team. RIP

@Reelblack - I am neither Black, Cool, nor Legit. But I am VERY grateful you put this cite up. Many of these items are of my generation and I think it's great that you help to preserve and share them. Thank you! When I was a penniless college student, I spent many a Saturday night at the Drive-In (cost $2.50) where films like, Cleopatra Jones, Dolomite, & Cotton Comes to Harlem and more were often the 3rd feature. Back in the day!

So, a great athlete died and went to heaven. During his introduction tour of heaven, he saw a man golfing a ridiculously low score while being cheered on by a great crowd. "Who is that?", he asked. "Oh, that's Lee Travieno", said the tour guiding angle. "Lee thinks he's God." In another place, they saw some guy hitting the baseball with great power knocking hit after hit and scoring run after run. "Who's that?" the athlete asked. The angel replied: "That is Babe Ruth. He thinks he's God." The next place in the tour was a football field with this guy running the football, play after play, through the defensive tacklers, and scoring touchdown after touchdown, spiking the ball with each score to the cheers of a great crowd. "Who is that?" asked the athlete. The angel replied, "Oh, that's God. He thinks he's Walter Payton."

Thank you for creating this channel of Historic gems, not just for black people , but for all people to see, and appreciate. It is a long overdue concept. Bless your creative genious. Where do you find all of these masterpieces. I am a hard copy collector and would love to purchase those films not available elsewhere on the net. Does your site feature "Porgy and Bess", with Sidney Poitier, and Dorothy Dandridge? I've been wanting to see that since childhood. Once again thank you. God Bless you, and much continued success. Payton was still making pro bowls and performing at an elite level well into his 30s, and only missed one game in his career, even as a workhorse feature back.
Running backs today can’t even make it half a season without some kind of injury that keeps them out for weeks at a time, even as part of a committee. And now they’re already washed up and steeply decline in performance by age 28 or 29.
