I have the MFC - J825DW with the same issue, however what i found was the ink cartridge door had an exceptionally small piece of plastic chipped off from the door arm and was not pushing the microswitch inside back fully. So i used superglue and a small piece of plastic to repair it and now its fine. Sometimes it's not always the obvious but i did find your tutorial helpful, thanks.
Thanks for appreciation 😊 you can add on off switch in sensor... And i have a trick/hack to bypass ink cartridge sensor so if you can remove tank/cartridge printer won't give any error or cartridge install msg even you turn off and turn on printer. Printer always show cartridge is ok 😄 i will make video soon on this topic

i've succeeded to solve this problem without dismounting the machine !
Here is the method for MFC-J430W
-Remove ink cartridges
-Power off printer
-Unplug for 25 seconds
-Plug in and power on
-At restart after inno logo, press fast OK,Menu,Mono then several times the upper arrow until Maintenance shows
-Type in 63, Mono, 1, OK
the machine will say head locked
-Type 99
-Reinsert cartridges and proceed with setup

Welcome sir only you have to do remove ink cartridge carriage and remove sensors clean them using Ipa thinner or rubbing alcohol 😊🙏

Should the same procedure work for a MFC-J470DW?
Mfc 470 have only one Big pcb on up side if this printer cartridges have chips u need to clean PCB on cartridge box

You cleaned sensor ? Using ipa or rubbing alcohol.. if yes so last option change Sensor PCB

I have brother MFC J6710DW has power issue, first problem came in doing power button in on and off. I run the printer approx 2years by doing on and off directly from switch board not using printer power button once it is on. now the NEXT PROBLEM after two years my printer is becoming on by trying on and off 5 to 6 times on and off till it turn on. this technique of doing on happend for two week . But now it is not turning on . i have change the battery but it is still not working. please help us..
