    I purchased the ASI662MC as my first dedicated astro camera. Surprisingly, this $149 camera does pretty well on DSO targets as well as planets and the moon. I've been able to capture nice images of various nebula and galaxies with this camera. I figure I can use it as a guide camera when I upgrade to a cooled camera.

    just to point out the obvious these are zwo cameras, you can get the copies from many brands and touptek is truly considered the budget king with no lack of capability and in certain areas lik cooling being more capable

    The 585 mc-pro is a beast, newer technology sensor make it very sensitive with no ampglow. despite the small size of the chip, image quality is a step better than my old 071 mc-pro camera that was already an amazing one. Thanks for the video and clear skyes!

    I have the asiair plus and use it with the asi553mc pro with a clestron mc-9 on a star adventurer gti for planetary. I am thinking of getting the asi533 mc pro to use with my nexstar 8se with a wedge mount and a focal reducer for DSO, what do you think of this combination? I might get a refractor sometime in the future, will see how things go.

      Might consider the Dwarf 3. You can polar align it for longer exposures, plus it has a built-in dual band filter to get more nebula.

    Why not some other brands? Player One for example? They tend to be cheaper and / or better quality than ZWO.

    Hi Wido, Does the ASI678 have video and colour features?

      There's a mono (mm) and color (mc) version. The camera supports fast video captures for planetary imaging.

    I started with the gateway drug, the Seestar S50, and I want better resolution and being able to take less photos to collect same amount of time (longer exposures vs 10s subs). Going to dive in with ASI585 MC Pro, so it was good to reference this video ($744 on sale here in Canada in our dollars). While I’d like to get the ASI533, I would need to get a larger telescope (more money, more weight, meaning more money for a mount). So I’m looking at the RedCat 51 to go with the 585.

    $1000 is not 'Budget' for 99% of the people.

    • @zalllon
      @zalllon 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      99% of the people are not doing this hobby. For the folks doing this hobby, $1000 is affordable by comparison to what else is available (more expensive cameras, modified DSLRs, mounts that need to handle the added weight). If you go to a Star Party, you’ll quickly see that those in the hobby $4000 is an affordable kit.

      @@marcelpost4052He said ‘kit’. I imagine that this would be scope, mount, camera and accessories. That’s pretty much the low end for a complete GoTo system that’s simple to use. My original investment 3 years ago was about 7k and I’m probably up to $15K or so.
