I actually met Jake. I grew up in Ponca City in ‘70’s and my dad took me to post office every month to mail bills. I knew he was a veteran but not of his exploits. Damn if I only knew… I remember him as pleasant and smiling.
I love this so much. What a fond memory to look back on, I'm sure. I remember a Holocaust survivor spoke at the auditorium at my highschool when I was a sophomore and the first words he spoke once we were all settled and paying attention were "I already hate every single one of you because you are all so beautiful." Que the tearful chuckles from most of us. I will never forget him saying that. 😊
there are so many stories about people that grew up with him as their mailman on the original video at the electricians page. Pretty sure in a few comment threads people that grew up in the same time on different sides of town reconnected and were like "holy shit I remember you bro" lol. McNasty was a hell of a man.

That's my cousin/I went to school with them!", or some shit like that.

I met Jake "McNasty" McNeice in 1973. I was visiting my relatives and went down to the post office to get some stamps. I saw the name and asked him if he was Jake McNasty. He smiled and said yeah, I am. I told him I served in the 101st and I modeled my Carrer after him. He said "Oh God and you didn't get tossed in the stockade? I said oh ,yeah, plenty of times but, they always came and got me. I told him that I volunteered for Airborne, Rangers, the 10th mountain, was taken into MAC-V-SOG and volunteered for Pathfinders. He said, damn son, you have a death wish or what. I told him, no, the way I saw it, the more training I had the better my chances were and the worse it would be for Charlie. He laughed and said, I guess so and your here so it must have worked out. He was the most gangster man I ever met and at the same time the humblest, most unassuming man I ever met.

The only thing better than hearing about him from Nic is hearing some of them straight from Mr. McNeice himself. I wasn't even 10 yet but when he would remember those stories he got an absolutely devilish grin across his face.

This generation of of American people are the best generation of humans to ever life in my opinion my grandfather Hobart birchfield reminds me so much of Jake it makes me cry he was the best man , father, brother,and grandfather I've ever known and we lost him at the age of 95 and I think about him every single day

I will say it until I'm blue in the face: I wish history classes were taught like this in school. Any subject taught by someone with this level of interest and enthusiasm would've made me that much more interested in learning anything other than art. Students like me absolutely would've paid better attention in class with a teacher like this.

I had a thirty mile ruck march in the Army in Germany. My feet were bleeding and all the soldiers that complained it were sent to the hospital. My company commander received a letter of reprimanded for the march. That was my summer ruck march in the German mountains. So um yeah McNasty that was a feat.

When I was in Iraq we had the best food on earth, just as good as a Las Vegas buffet before COVID. As an infantryman we have to eat good if we were to die in combat. In every chow hall in every FOB in Iraq at the exit, there was an empty table that was blocked off as being "Reserved". It was a table with 4-10 empty plates, glasses, and silverware to remind us that some of our comrades were not going to be with us. Very somber reminder to remember them, and remind us that we can be killed if we don't do our jobs or our luck has run out.
I can only imagine how harrowing that must be. 😢

Jake was part of same regiment of 101st Airborne as other paratroopers profiled in documentary called, We Stand Alone: Men of Easy Company. HBO's miniseries based on the documentary. Even though Jake was in his own group.
Jake lived a long life until 2013 when he died at the age of 93

When I joined the Army in 1986 and went to Airborne (Jump) School, I heard about McNiece. When I was assigned to the 1st Brigade Combat Team in the 82D, I heard about him even more. Airborne!!

You two should react to Nick (Fat Electrician) talk about the 92-year-old veteran that fought against the HOA. It's the reason why I think all HOA neighborhoods are ridiculous. Unfortunately, the house my mom and I are renting from is in an HOA and I hate it.

When I joined the army,I wanted to go to Ranger-School and Airborne School,but,wisely,my sgts there talked me outta it.Which was a good thing,I wasn't ready for prime time and didn't have the right mind-set either.

I walked 25 mile on pavement once my feet were fked never mind 130 milk over rocky ground
so back in the 90's i was in E/506th Reenacted (living history) yes from Band of Brothers fame, we had all the surviving Troopers attending events with the unit and many times i got stuck trying to out drink Wild Bill & Babe, BUT also Jack Agnew who was 1 of the original Troopers in the Filthy 13 with Jake and also went with him to the Pathfinder's with him. the stories he shared were wild . both books "Band of Brothers" & "The Filthy Thirteen" are a must read. oh and the movie "The Dirty Dozen" was NOT based on them this has been proven many times even by the guy who directed the movie

If you like you should look into these men who are largely forgotten in history. The first id suggest would be William Marshall (i call him the immovable human) william was the Greatest knight of his time, even young the man was fearless and his skills in sword fighting was second to none. Big, tall, quick, and fought everyone in his way and his unwavering loyalty was something that made him legendary. This man also defeated "Richard The Lionheart" (whos another you should look into) and Richard was supposed to be the greatest king/solider and his skill with the sword was amazing. Next we go to a man who was crazy beyond all hell but though crazy he was legendary and his name was Lord Thomas Cochran (the sea wolf). Born a scott the sea wolf rise to fame during the Napoleon war was unprecedented with everything against him he single handily defied everything and crushed every challenge before him. His story doesnt end there and his next chapter would label him "the founder of Chile" and liberator of Chile. A couple of others ill throw in is Hannibal Barrca (the greatest enemy of rome and the general most modern generals follow today). His conqueror Scipio Africanus who was an unbelievable general as well. Those two generals were something but also they are great reads
