@@keithwilson6060 One of the Muses came down to inspire a man in his art. Such a simple artistic premise that it is almost blasphemous for any lover of the arts to question it.
This movie is a snapshot of a particular moment in time, that lasted exactly as long as the movie took to make. By the time it was released, everything had changed. Fashion, music, art, style and the world had run out of cocaine.
I was around when this movie came out .. . It took a big hit due to the disco backlash .. . This movie has some discoish flavor to it , but more importantly this is basically a Broadway musical filmed for the big screen .. . It’s good entertainment but most Americans prefer lots of action in their movies .. . Most who saw this movie didn’t even understand what they were watching ..
This Movie also was next to American Gigolo (1980) the first Movies to show the burgeoning Coffee Movement (Pre Starbucks). The Guy with the Slicked Back Hair and Turquoise Tank Top is Olivia's Former First Husband Matt Lattanzi (Father of her Daughter Chloe). He didn't go far as an actor and he was in the same boat that The Husbands of Diana Ross (Husband #1), Jennifer Lopez (Chris Judd), and Sharon Stone had. They were more famous than their husbands.
Ok.....how do I put this? "Xanadu" (1980) requested of us, the movie viewer, to suspend belief and just go with it. A muse decided to feel what we feel. In so doing, She got all lengths of fucked up. She fell in love. THAT is why I will always love and respect the movie "Xanadu" (1980).
When the movie came out, I took my girlfriend to see it and we both loved the music. ELO rocked then, and it rocks now. Jeff Lynne is a genius. But the movie itself was truly awful. Acting was so-so to wooden, direction crappy, and it just felt wrong. The only scene that stood out was the dancing scene between Gene Kelly and ONJ. That was it. Everything else bit.
I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't love this joyful movie.
I feel sorry for aborted kids
I love the music and the actors, but the story and premise was just silly.

Does anybody cry everytime they see something that they haven,t got anymore?

Amo demais... Já assisti mais de 300 vezes.
I remember seeing this as a kid the nostalgia happiness and sadness fills me as I watch this. Don’t think I have seen this in so many years.
This movie is magic
It's a shame this film tanked at the box-office, but in it's favor Gene Kelly looked like he had a fun time making it.

I posted this on one of my FB groups, and I was wrongfully accused of "going against community standards" on spam. Thinking of a lawsuit.

0:57 The old guy (68 years old, to be exact) still had it. What a legend.
That's Gene Kelly. He was a bad boy back in the day!
i MISS HIM SO MUCH

Yo, Big Lebowski... Xanadu called and want it's scene back 1:58.
Amo esta canción. ELO es una de mis bandas favoritas y Olivia es única, pero la película es HORRIBLE ...(Gene Kelly es increíble)

So tragic to see how intolerant we were to minorities and gays in Reagan's 80's! SMH!
Derp!!!
This was filmed and released prior to Reagan's election.
