Thank you so much for this! I wanted to get into the craft but I was curious because I wanted to use fresh flowers that don't dry well. You saved me a lot of time and heart break with this super informative and accessible demonstration and video!!! Thanks again! Subscribed!!!
Thank you for showing this it was really helpful for someone like me who has never preserved flowers, I really want to preserve a rose my daughter and granddaughters gave me today. So now I know I need to dry it before trying to put in resin.
I am so happy to have found this video. I bought the epoxy resin to preserve flowers from my best friends funeral. My rose did exactly what yours did and I was devastated. Now I know for next time. I definitely will look for your video on how to dry out the flower before I try again!
Thanks for the experiment! Clearly the heat from the epoxy 'cooks' the live flower! Here is my suggestion: Flower dipped in DRY ICE, then an epoxy pour around it!
Just what I needed to know. Started drying flowers again after abt 20 years and also new to resin so I found your video very helpful. Oh BTW... Its PMT ive found for memory or fuddled words ... im passed all that but swear by B6 AND B12 still. But check with your doc first. Happy days.
Hi Sheri, First of all thank you for teaching me so much. Sheri I’m making a 20 inch round resin table with flowers. I’ve found that the glycerine preserved flowers are the prettiest. Can I use these in my resin art? Or will the glycerine have a negative reaction with the resin.? Thanks again hun!!!
Wow so no fresh flowers. So, how do i preserve my flowers to keep their besutiful color and shape? Im new to this so this is my first attempt lol. Ive got dried flowers but they turn brown.. im trying to do something for a friend. Her mother passed a few months ago and their favorite flower is pink carnations. I have dried carnations but they are absolutely upsettingly ugly from what they were.. what would you suggest?
How can we dry the wedding garlands if they are in the refrigerator for the last 20 days? What should i do ? Should i take them out from the refrigerator and preserve them in silica gel immediately? Please suggest

Hi Im in Oz and nearly have everything I need to resin smaller projects but I am completely lost as to what brands are available in or to be shipped to Australia that are appropriate for crafting. Please help 🙏 TIA 🌺
I have seen videos where people paint resin onto the roses directly to preserve them. Do you think it might work better if you do that first and then put them in the mold?
I think so, my pretty dried pink rose turned brown immediately in the mold! I regret it so much. I’m going to try coating the flower before putting it in the mold next.
What about first dipping it in like clear glue or maybe wax like heated up wax with fresh flowers can you see if it does work for me even on a small one
Can you put a preserved flower that’s been preserved in glycerine already into Resin to harden the petals and stem and leaves or are glycerine flowers needing to be dried out before resin? Trying to keep my immortal flower I bought even longer.
Thanks love for video I learned the hard way 😂heehheeee it's ok I tried with a fresh Hawaiian flower. Look beautiful, but I used UV resin. Did one layer place the flower down then? I kind of brush the resin on top and then stick it into the lamp. Looked beautiful for a couple of hours. Then it started to Brown some parts.
I’ve been getting better at doing resin in silicone dried flowers, but still having a hard time with upside down roses for spheres! I’m curious if you’ve ever tried or heard of whether glycerin preserved roses would work in resin long term?
I tried it with a preserved rose last year, but I can't tell how it looks now as I gave it away. But it definitely stayed in perfect condition for the few months I've got to see it after I made it and I plan to do the same thing again. I think it will work long-term, considering it stayed fresh for months after casting. Just take care of the thermal heat during the curing process, I casted a little too much which resulted in a lot of heat. It resulted in the roses red color being sort of "extracted" into the resin (which ultimately gave the sphere a lovely reddish shine, so it wasn't really bad, just beware)

Hii, thank you for sharing this . i would like to know how long does the dried flowers retain their colors in resin, if most of epoxy resin do turn yellow over time? Thank you!
Quick question! After your flowers are completely covered, could you theoretically just do the last section in one big layer? Like if you have thinner flowers in a big mold?
Hello, thank you for sharing. I am here because I'd like to preserve Wijaya Kusuma ( Epiphyllum anguliger) flower in resin. However the flower only blooms at night and one night only. It'll wither in the morning, and make it out of shape, so drying the flower will be difficult, I think. The flower has nice fragrance, and the diameter is about 11-13 cm. Watching your video, I guess it's impossible to preserve it in resin.
Great video! Does using deep pour epoxy change anything? I see the application for the shallow pour to fix the objects but if I am using deep pour, can I do the rest in one shot?
I did with fresh flower and i kept it for drying... now it has thousands and thousands of bubbles i cant even see my rose in the resin its fulll bubbles. Is it becoz of the moisture?
Hi.. Thank you for this video. It was so informative. I have a question though. What about frozen flowers? Do I still have to dry them up and then use it?
So I couldn't find much info about this and just did my own experiments, as I was hoping to make some things for a local craft show. . I found certain flowers worked fresh and others didn't, and I used UV resin, so it was locked in pretty immediately. Not sure if that made a difference? Anyways, I made a ton and sold a ton at the show, and now I'm seeing this and I'm terrified the stuff I sold is going to go bad :( I would hate that so much. Thing is, it had been 2 weeks or so since I had made them and they still looked perfect. And the few I still have still look perfect too, almost 3 weeks now after they were made. But now I'm really scared something will happen to them later 😕
@@sherivegasartist different very small wildflowers. I found that larger flowers and really "juicy" flowers with large flat petals instantly browned, and some lost color instantly. These SEEMED to work but it sounds like it might not last? I'm worried about that. What do you think? I can't find info anywhere for ones that seemed good for awhile. Most people have them brown or rot instantly.
@jasmimehoover5359 how was your experience with the fresh flowers after 2 years? Please, i'm looking information about this and could't find anything in TH-cam...😢
@clarissauhlendorff4716 They do decompose, some just take longer than others. I still have a few things that look OK, but it was unpredictable which ones. Surprisingly it seems like the UV held up better than the regular resin, with fresh flowers. None of them completely rotted terribly, but I can tell they're not gonna hold up and they lost some color for sure. It's possible that getting 6 months-2 or 3 years out of something could be worth it to you, so that's the risk you're taking, and you decide if it's OK. I would say that's how long they last (given that they're wildflowers, petals, etc, not really juicy fat flowers like roses). Also, to beginners, TAKE ALL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. I did once I knew but given the materials were sold at michaels etc I didn't think it was dangerous in the beginning, but I absolutely can't do it anymore because of the reaction I developed from not wearing a mask, gloves etc
Thank you for the tutorial. One question please. When you placed your first layer of resin. It was still wet not sticky? Is it better to maybe do a thin layer of resin for the bottom then pour another layer on top so the rose or foliage do not go through the bottom and all the flowers are set in the resin. I am just thinking the roses will peak through the bottom and won’t be covered by the resin.

Not only did I freeze my flowers (did NOT think that thru) but I almost put them straight in resin in hopes I could save them🥲 at least I know they’re just trash now 😭
Hmm, try drying it out, then soaking it in alcohol or saline solution. I wonder if that would prevent the mold and a more interesting effect. OH, soak it in kerosene lolol
I think the reason that it rotted is because there is a hole by the stem which willl allow pathogens and oxygen in to allow for decomposition, If the flower is totally encapsulated in resin I think it will work. You should try it. Good Luck.
