  • Today we meet PJ Audits at a building site where a Concrete Pump is in action.
    There was a little delay due to the cold weather which caused a couple of blockages within the CEMEX Lorry on site, but the expert knowledge of CemPump resulted in the job being completed on time for the customer.
    It was a pleasure spending time on site with the lads and I fully recommend their services to anyone in these areas -
    • East and West Midlands
    • Yorkshire
    • London and Surrounding Areas
    CemPump Website is cempump.co.uk/
    CemPump Phone Number is 01332 410021
    I hope you enjoy watching how its done as much as we did!

    Here in the US. The concrete plants in the states were the temperature drops lower (not often here in Florida where I’m at)
    Use heated water. But depending on where this concrete’s be in use if the temperature drops below 40° they cannot place the concrete. Department of transportation across the country have strict guidelines for placing concrete in cold weather and hot weather.
    The waterline on that concrete truck froze. When they first started discharging the concrete into the hopper of the pump, I believe the pump operator wanted more water added to raise the slump. Usually in pump operations the wetter (higher slump) the better.
    Generally, 10 gallons of water will raise a slump 1 inch. Like the restrictions on temperature there are also restrictions on the slump range. Too much water in your concrete mix will lower the PSI of the concrete.
    Great video. I work in the construction transportation industry in Florida, for road and bridge construction. I’ve been to Germany a few times and watched the same type of operation very interesting indeed. And this particular company “Cemex” is a huge building materials supplier and worldwide company. And they actually purchased the company I used to work for here in Florida. Based out of Mexico.
    Keep up the good work!!

    Tut tut, watering it down more than once (it'll pump easier but it weakens the final set). Dry lumps of cement at the start of the load showed bad concrete supplied. Temperature too low is misleading, as if it was freezing it would destroy the concrete as it sets. Although pour at 1 degree a bit risky anyway.

    Just how things should be. A superb interaction from all of those involved and an excellent advertisement for the company’s involved!!! However from an insurance/ H&S point of view, there may well be an issue. Surprised to see them letting you get so close to the works. Presumably their insurance will cover their own guys, but not you, should anything happen. The fact that they let you film etc, could be a grey area. I would suggest that perhaps your own insurance might be an idea if you intend making similar vids in the future. Just some (I hope) friendly pointers.

    Fantastic interaction from all concerned, I have a question, does the additional water added to the "Recipe mix" weaken or compromise the product?

    • @MajinPorunga
      @MajinPorunga 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it can, Cemex have cube Technicians that go to random jobs to sample the concrete. They can't take samples from concrete that has had additional water put in it post batching at the plant. The cubes get crush tested and have to hit certain measurements for the grand of concrete being supplied. If not then it's an expensive job to rip out the concrete. The additional water should be logged on the drivers device/ticket as a customer request. That way the liability is on the customer and not Cemex.

    it's great seeing these sort of videos and I enjoyed watching how you and Pete showed this. Great bunch of guys allowing you to do this but this could go two ways. 1. promotes how curtious the workers are or 2. These guys could get a roasting from each of their companies. I am really surprised at Pete putting these guys in the firing line knowing so much about training, health and safety and 'Insurance'. Yes, you are responsible for your own safety as Pete would say but under health and safety an insurance company would rap the knuckles of any company if you were to get injured on site as there is no way of getting round accident books. There is no two ways about it, think of the guys jobs you are putting at risk in them being kind to you both, again I'm surprised at Pete doing this.

    • @MrJamezGamez

    • @Ste6ve1
      @Ste6ve1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrJamezGamez Did I say they meant any harm? Yes, they are responsible for their own safety but at same time we are all responsible in life for what could happen under health and safety and the implications to others. Building sites, jumping on trucks etc doesn't work like that, it's who spots those actions on the good workers allowing this breach. Pete will understand that more than the others because he would have trained people on health and safety as a trainer. it was not a dig on having freedom to do what you like, it was advice on putting good people at risk by your own actions.

    When they lay the rebarthey put the lower sheets in first and wire or crimp (depending on spec) together to form the base layer, this is stood on concrete blocks so it is totally covered and encased in concrete and off the floor, they put another layer over it and stand it on plastic uprights OR wire rebar unrights in and sit the upper layer onto them. When concrete is poured it adheres to the spacing blocks underneath and forms a solid slab under the rebar.

    Also they add the slurry to prime the pump line .
    Cold weather has never affected us in Australia and we pour in 5 degree mornings .

  • @MadPaperPeople

    adding more water is a no no... they must do a slump test before use as more water will make the cement weaker... when it leaves the plant it will have been mixed to a certain slump tolerance for the use in hand ....according to architects design...
