THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING! I've been looking for days on how to make a CUSTOM weapons and armor mod, not just rename a vanilla weapon, and none of the videos I found explain how. They show how to install and use mods but I want to actually make one. How do I do it? I know that I may need different programs for models, textures, etc, but all this other stuff is not helping. PLEASE, can someone help me!
I'm looking to create a piece of armor, like a ring, that gives your character a cast-able spell. For example, you equip the ring and it gives you the ability to cast fireball without needing a spell tome, but if you remove the ring you can no longer cast the spell.
I don't have the time to make a tutorial right now but essentially the same as the custom spell tutorial I made (part 3) copy paste an existing spell, then simply edit the values to your liking
I believe you do that either by setting the enchantment value to 0 or leaving it blank, but yes there's deffinantly a way to do it (I think that's how you do it?) without going into the CK to double check i'm not positive
I believe if you check the properties on an upgradeable weapon in the CK it will have something attatched to it to allow for upgrades, the same with enchantments, you'll have to copy those, that's as best as I can describe it without opening the CK unfortunatly, if you're still stuck let me know and i'll find out better how to do it when I get home.
Would you please think about making a spoiler-free example on how to make a custom weapon, it would be greatly appreciated to anyone who hasn't bought the dragonborn DLC yet.
ive had the creation kit just blindly pressing buttons and creating nothing specific, your vids have helped amazingly thank you what im working towards and your advice would be well received, is being proficient at using nifscope and blender then changing charchter armor in skyrim, do you have any experience with nifscope and or do you think its worth it ?
I've followed every step for this, and when I went into my game, the swords weren't there- I don't understand, I followed each and every step, well- I did a few add-ons, but still! The two, twin swords I made were nowhere to be found.

Well, you'd have to create custom textures and meshes in another program like Gimp then export them to the CK, should be tutorials on that type of thing on youtube, I'm no expert at that type of thing personally

I've extracted the bsa and nif files and made a retexture of the clothes in GIMP with the dds plugin. But I don't know how to put it all together and make it a stand alone/unique piece of clothing. I've made this NPC and I want him to have unique clothes. That's it. And there isn't a tutorial out there to help me. And Im using Special edition so some things are different too. One day, I hope we both get what we want done.
Open up nifskope and open an item you are looking to copy. You must replace the item AND first person mesh/textures for the item you are modding. Textures must be saved to the data/textures folder and the meshes respectivly in the data/meshes folder
Yeah there's alot of cool looking stuff ruined by being pre-enchanted, I don't know why they don't at the least allow you to remove enchantments without breaking the item at an enchanting table
Uh how do you add a completely different weapon? NiFSkope seems to not working that well for me.. It keeps giving me a mat lib error even in 3DS max I specified export mat libs..
What if we wanted to add more than one new item? Are there any problems that might arise with that? The reason i ask is that I'm trying to make a sword and a bow. At any given time only one of the items appears in game and I'm very unsure how to fix this. Though, I'm not placing mine in world. I'm making it craft-able at a forge.
Hello. I'm New to Creation Kit and skyrim but I wanted to make myself a custom sword, using much of the same principals as the thor hammer, IE: the sound effects and enchant effects. I'm working on a called the Stormbringer for a character model. and a elemental sword of this type would fit perfectly. the problems I'm having are once its completed and put into the game it does'nt create the sound or graphics. I may just be a complete noob! Could someone assist me? Im using the Diamond great sword mod for my weapon graphic. all i want to achieve is the thunder sound on hit with the knockback and shock spell.

Scarlet Silverflame You need an external programme like Gimp, other than that, look for a Gimp tutorial (or whatever programme you end up using)
will this work with Maya?
Scarlet Silverflame it works best with blender +nifscope. 3dsmax works fine too. there are several tutorials on the nexus about mesh editing.

You can't do that with creation kit, you would need photoshop or a dds converter. First you would have to extract the .bsa though.

How did you get all of the items to show i just downloaded it and found nothing. Never modded and just downloaded the creation kit.
you have to load the skyrim master file to get the assets to show up in the CK

You have to use something like Gimp or Blender, there are tutorials out there specifically for those programmes.
