@@clement2780 I believe there’s a specific Gibraltar visa that you apply for through the Civil Status and Registration Office in Gibraltar rather than a British consulate. I can see problems for frequent travellers to the EU, trying to work out their 90 day allowance, as it seems passports will no longer be date-stamped on entry/exit - so you may need to maintain accurate records separately. When counting these days, be careful of entry/exit days perhaps being double-counted, eg is your exit date seen as the last whole day in the EU or the first day out of it..... or both ? (I noted an American frequent EU traveller warning of this)
It’s a good idea to use the Schengen Simple app which calculates the days correctly and has a page to show border control. There should be no confusion of counting days twice. The rule is simple. If you enter the Schengen Area for even one minute of a day, that whole day counts as you being in the Schengen Area. EES and ETIAS should make it easier than searching for passport stamps all over your passport.
@@youtoospain it is on the official press site of the european union. you have to go back a long way because it was announced at the end of August. I posted a message here with the website link in it, but y tube deleted it
The latest important news that is on it and what is important for English people is that if you stay in a country that is a member of the European Union for more than ninety days from January, you must have an international driving license or a driving license for that country. This means that if you stay in Spain for one hundred and ninety days in a row, for example, you must have an international driver's license. this was published at the beginning of September
@@aukebij3193 where on earth are you getting this crap from? State your source. An ‘international driving license’ is a cheap document that simply translates a foreign driving license, it can only be used in conjunction with a national license rather than on its own. And ‘190 days’???? This is total nonsense. Every comment you make on my channel has been utter bullsh*t so far. However amusing that may be I’m going to have to block you unless you can prove that anything you’re saying is true. GREAT video: brief, funny, informative and to the point! Question: We have a group tour (50 Americans) booked for June 2025. Like you all, we're in limbo. What if the "official" EES launch happens in just prior to our departure? Are we going to be required to register in that short timeframe (can you imagine the mayhem?!)...will we be denied departure/entry...perhaps there will be a "grace period". Your guesses are as good as mine!
The first six months of the EES will be the tester period so it will likely be a gradual process of implementation. Besides, you don’t register in advance for the EES, it’s done at border crossings. ETIAS is the system that will require advance registration, and that certainly won’t happen before June 2025.
1800 ports, airports and land border crossings in 27 countries with 3rd country traffic need LOTS of computers and all connected to the same database 24/7, not for the faint of heart.
The same as is happening now. It’s not like there isn’t a system in place at all right now, during the roll out there’ll be a gradual switch over while the EES is being tested.
I'd be interested to know how this will affect people in my situation. A Brit living permanently in France (therefore having a permanent resident's permit, but not having a French passport). Does it mean that I will need extra documentation to return home (France) when visiting the UK? I've been trying to find out but haven't come across any info yet. If anyone has an idea...
As you’re an EU resident you’ll just need to show your passport and French residency card, the same as now. Your biometric details are already on both of those. You won’t be required to use ETIAS.
I’m very aware of using the word expat and why I use the term even when I’d prefer to call everyone immigrants. Check out the following video link for your answer th-cam.com/video/Q6bQlUStHOc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_I3H7YSZ0tMS78pm
The trouble is, the system is being managed by civil servants who get paid and pensioned whatever happens. When a passenger books a flight, the arriving country knows they are coming long before their arrival date. Ships have manifestos. Many vehicular and foot arrivals should be able to obtain immigration clearance via the Internet long before arrival.
Hello, what difference will it make if a person is living in malta after having an room ragister in Spain in November 2024 and the entry-exit system is implemented in Spain? That it should come before the implementation of the rule or it does not matter if it comes after it is implemented? That the registered name will be deleted automatically.
I live in Spain and work in Gibraltar. I will be glad when all this is finally over once and for all.
Yeah, and that’s a whole other set of problems to deal with that are still being negotiated

Thanks for the update Skatz. I'd heard comments about this on the rumour mill, but good to get the information from a more reliable source. ATB Simon
Yeah, I checked the official ETIAS website and a few other reliable sources first.

I’m not sure what you mean, but the EES is for the whole of the EU, it’s not where you live that means you have to use it, it’s your passport
