Great instructive and very relevant video. Mind you, I can't find that self adhesive sandpaper anywhere at all. Any suggestions? Thanks

Thanks for sharing your choice of sharpening and what a great tip of using the cheap diamond sharpener for flattening the water stones. Where do you source your abrasive paper from ? Thanks

I have an oil stone my uncle gave me but I don't feel comfortable using it. I don't know whether to buy a cheap waterstone off amazon or buy sets of the abrasive tape and use that instead. What would you advise? How much time do you advise I should spend on sharpening a knife? Thanks

Robin, just found your videos and I greatly appreciate the info you share. Can you tell me what sharpening angles I should aim for on an old hatchet that I'm trying to restore? What about on carving knives?

jbrand81 I would start at around 25 degrees on both, if having sharpened to that the edge rolls or chips then it is easy to steepen it up a little until you find the minimum angle at which it holds the edge well. If you want to be on the safe side start nearer 30 but obviously the finer the angle the easier it will go through the wood.

Hi Robin. Can you put a link to the sticky backed emery paper rolls? I can't find them online.....

Wet/dry sandpaper with two sided tape works fine

I'm still a touch confused. Robin says he uses 1000, 6000 & 15000 grit shapton stones and then auto-polish on the strop. Would it be possible to sharpen on the 1000 & 6000 stones, skip the 15000 and then finish off using the strop and still get super sharp knife?

      That is absolutely possible.
