    When people ask, "how do I make my footage look cinematic" I picture something like this. Beautiful work.

    I love the way you compose some of the shots from a low angle....good work, as always.

    What anamorphic lenses did you use? I'm assuming you had to use adapter, due to limited emount lenses. I've been using cine Rokinon lenses with pretty decent results.

    great video and amazing combination one day i will have the a7s with the anamorphic lens. But one thing that could of been better is if most of the shots where shot in 60fps or 120fps to make everything more emotional in slow motion but other then that it was amazing and im jealous of your gear.

    darwinfish105 does this lens adapter make your lens 33% wider? do u think f2.8 usable?

  • @pauldhadialla
    @pauldhadialla 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice work Darwin. If you shoot lower/faster than f/2.8 with the Anamorphot with the 50mm, do you see any issues? Have you used it on a wider lens than the 50mm - any issues? Thanks in advance.

    Just got the slr magic, tips of focusing? Do you set your lens on infinity & just use the near/normal option to focus? Thanks

    • @darwinfish105
      @darwinfish105  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. Please read the manual as below.
      For regular shooting, the dial should be set to the NORMAL position. The taking lens will be able to focus from a lens dependent distance (approx. 3-4 meters) to infinity. NEAR mode should be used when focusing at closer distances that cannot be achieved in NORMAL position (also lens dependent).

    great video! since that canon lens is made for aps-c crop sensors, were you using the a7s in crop mode?

    • @darwinfish105
      @darwinfish105  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      EF50mm F1.8 covered full frame.
      I did't use crop mode.

    Is the weight of the anamorphic adapter stable on the 50mm? And was this shot on f1.8, as I've heard it works best on f2.8 and above

    • @darwinfish105
      @darwinfish105  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1.33x is stable.2x is too heavy without lens support.
      f2.8 and above.
      www.slrmagic.co.uk/slr-magic-anamorphot-133x-50-anamorphic-adapter.html
      f/2.8 should be used for 20-50mm focal length.
      f/4.0 should be used for 55-85mm focal length.
      f/5.6 should be used for 90-135mm (Trial and error) focal length.

    • @marco_dcruz
      @marco_dcruz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much for the reply, do you think the rangefinder is also worth getting for focusing? Or is focusing okay with just the anamorphot adapter.
      Most of your shots in these clips seem like focus is set to infinity. How do you go about achieving depth of field?
      (Sorry for all the questions!)

    • @darwinfish105
      @darwinfish105  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not necessary if you fix the focus.
      Not particularly thinking. Focus on the building.

    man amazing! One question, how did you get it so sharp? I am using sony 7r2 + SEL55F18Z and the 1.33 slr magic adapter. I am pretty new to shooting anamorphic and still don't get pictures so sharp especially at night. do you have any tips? I find it really impressive how sharp your images are. thanks a lot in advance.

  • @ChezVee
    @ChezVee 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does SLR Magic not make an anamorphic lens for a native Sony lens? In other words....do you need to get a Canon lens and a Metabones adapter to achieve this 1.33 cinematic look?

    • @darwinfish105
      @darwinfish105  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      At this time, I did not have Sony E mount 50 mm lens.

    • @ChezVee

      So then would you still have gone with the Canon glass if you had a Sony E mount lens? Or is there a Sony 50mm lens that you like to use now with the A7sii?

    Wow i really love your work there.
    I'm wondering about one thing.
    I've seen many videos from many different cameras (well sure thats obvious) but i haven't seen many cameras provide this kind of quality in motion. ofc on 24p or 25p
    Did the anamorphic lens adapter change the feel of the motion? or is it the camera which is naturally better?
    I worked with 5D M3 raw and i love it but it really have huge files + so much processing to get the final results (i sort of think its worth it still!).
    Anyway i think its hard to put it in a real world use.. so i might get the A7S instead!

    • @darwinfish105
      @darwinfish105  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Effects of anamorphic lens are flare, Bokeh and DOF. Resolution is reduced slightly.

      it will widen the field of view depends on the squeeze factor
