Hi there! Awesome channel! I've been watching a bunch of the videos to learn about my new hobby, I only started keeping ants a couple of weeks ago. I watched your video from last year about the Lasius umbratus. How did it end up? I caught a (what I think) umbratus queen and I'm trying to make her lay eggs of herself. I gave her pupae twice, workers hatched already, they are eating and the queen seems relaxed. I just find it hard to find videos of established colonies and I was curious if there are some known! So how did your queens do?

Als je een heide gebied bij je in de buurt hebt kun je formica poppen ook gewoon van raidende F. Sanguinea halen. Bovendien zijn die raids wellicht eens leuk voor jou om een video van te maken. In het zuidoosten van het land stikt het van de Sanguinea (heb iets van 13 nesten zitten in een straal van zo'n twee kilometer in mijn omgeving). Ik zou overwegen die F.Fusca kolonie een flinke broodboost te geven tot ze ongeveer 30 werksters hebben. Dan zullen ze in ieder geval een stuk actiever van worden. Met meer werksters kun je vervolgens een langere tubing naar de externe outworld leggen, zodat het nest zelf minder stresst. Wanneer je open staat voor een uitdaging kun je F. Pratensis misschien overwegen (zijn nog iets agressiever dan Rufa). Deze vliegen nu nog steeds uit, Rufa vliegt waarschijnlijk niet meer.

I have a camponotus ligniperda queen, with two workers in a test tube. I ordered this little Esthetic Ants 3D printed feeding tray to insert in the test tube, and also a Mini Outworld. Now I use this feeding tray but when should I in your opinion start using the Mini Outworld for them, should I wait for more workers?

Yes the Lasius umbratus all had workers. They are very easy to keep.
