Thanks Mr. Hill for sharing your 450x flight with all. I started last year 2013 with a Blade cx2 tricked it all out and then learned how to set it up and then fly it. Lots of fun and I watched your video on your Blade 120sr. Now I purchased a Blade 300cfx AND a Blade 450x I love to check them out and set them up on my Spektrum Dx8. I had the first radio that came with the cx2. Then I went crazy and purchased the Dx6 that was ok but I wanted more fine tuning. So keep sharing your progress and I will follow.
Keith, thanks for the compliment & encouragement. You have two awesome helis in the 300 and 450X so I wish that your experience will be as successful as mine has been over the months.
Great job Willie, I myself am new to the hobby and I must say you inspire me to be better. Love my 450X have not fully performed FFF yet but I'm close I'm still mastering hovering right now. 6 months in and I have stepped up to the Blade 500X and I have to say it is a joy to fly, not nearly as squirrelly as the 450X or the 300X but it is super stable and rock solid in the air and has been a true confidence builder. But had to say that your videos helped encourage me to keep going after almost
Willie, I watched your nano introduction, your maiden flight, and now this one. All great videos. Very inspiring. I'm graduating from a WLTOYS v912 to the Blade Nano and your videos are helpful as well as hopeful that I can follow your similar progression. I just had my maiden flight with the Nano yesterday, well more like 10 seconds prior to impact, but it was a start. I thought more of the FP experience would transfer, but you are correct, it's flight school again. But that's why it's fun. Hope to see you 3D in the future, but no pressure. Regards, Nathan
Nathan, it's great to hear that the videos have helped and you're taking the Nano plunge. If the HH's settings in the manual are too much for you (they were for me) then check out the ones I posted in my video. The settings should slow down the Nano enough so that you can think before you crash. Currently, I trying my first 3D maneuvers with the Nano then I'll transfer the skills to the 450X.
Oh no! Just what happened to bring you to that decision? Was it due to a lack of available help in your area? Anyway, I appreciate you checking out my channel and if there's anything I can suggest to help you to enjoy other aspects of the hobby I would be glad to help. Maybe you'll try it again at a later date when the timing is right for you to stick it out. Enjoy!
Hey Willie, that was a continuation of that first post. In no way did I mean to make it sound as if I was giving up the hobby because I'm hooked. This is the only hobby I have ever had that has consumed me totally and I am determined to succeed at it.
Willie Hill, Jr great video willie ,, I am a newb and totally hooked on the hobby , I am getting ready to deviate my devo 10 so I can start flying some blade helis,,thanks again for the vids and happy flying!
***** Hey, thanks for the comment & you can't go wrong flying the Blade line of helis. Great products, customer service, & prices. Shot me a message if I can help you with something. Enjoy!
Well spoken, an inspirational testimony, I too share in your enthusiasm. I am beginner and desire to achieve that level of success as well. So I will follow in your footsteps and purchase the Phoenix Flight Simulator. Stay blessed my friend, it was a pleasure to watch your video.
I know this vid is older, but I enjoyed the success You had by working Your way up the right way. Nice job Dude. I have since gotten away from copters, but I like E-Flite models. I do fixed wing now/again, LOL. Congrats on Tour success, & props to the camera person. Some day I may try another Heli. If I do, It will be the 450X. I like it. Peace, Scott, in Ohio.
Scott, thanks for taking the moment to comment on my video and flying. I appreciate it and there's plenty of room in the heli hanger for you to rejoin us again us rotor pilots.
Looks like a very capable copter and pilot. Nice sounds on it from the flybies and more. I fly the indoor versions that don't allow for pushing it too much. Forced limitations are effective.
Awsome, And well done you got there,,,im still having trouble doing circuits, I go all to pot as soon as it turns nose in lol but I wont give up,,, cant wait for your 3D videos lol
Hey, don't sweat the trauma sessions because I (we) have all traveled through those dark days of flight training. During my initial CP training on my Nano I could handle the circuit lessons but my bird would fly off into the ozone when executing left-hand turns. I don't know why but my brain and hand would simply disengage from each other at the most critical time of coming back on coarse. How did I overcome the problem? I practiced left-hand turns so much it got to the point I felt uncomfortable doing right-hand turns. So, practice circuit maneuvers often and one day it's going to click. 3D videos? Well, me and my Nano are currently in 3D flight school (of course, along with the Phoenix simulator) and I'm preparing myself to be fully 3D qualified by Spring. I've already learned that you just can push heli training...it takes time and practice to be SAFE and then good. Maybe that's why all of my helis are still in one piece. Enjoy!
Your doing awesome I started last summer flying the blade nano cpx and I have got better, but am just now starting basic forward flight with my 130x.Good job. My blade 300 CFX looks like your blade 450X helicopters little brother lol. Nice flying. I have a t-rex 500 esp and all i do with it is hover it so far.
Cory, it sounds like you've got a solid plan set up for advancing in heli flying. I'm going about it a little slower because I don't want to invest into too many birds and then have them sitting around collecting dust. You're correct in that the 300 CFX looks like a reduced down 450X (they cost about the same price too!). Stay in touch and be safe while you're having fun.
I won the 300 CFX Willie, that is the best investment of all. I did have to buy a battery and i bought a new canopy that is easier to see over snow. Good flying to you Willie.
Hello Willy,Its been a while!Great job on the flying! I havent had mine out yet,too busy with Airplanes. I finally got my Waco Biplane together and Maidened. Unfortunately I crashed it due to conditions. I did a few improvements and am waiting for the weather to become more condusive for flying. I almost crashed my Apprentice the same day,so I know it was weather related. I just picked up the Dynam F4U Corsair that was on sale at Motion hobby. That wont get put together right away eather. too many spring projects around the house and the grand daughter is home. Happy flying! I always enjoy your videos.
+scott firman Hey, Scott, it's ALWAYS unpleasant to have a model bit the dust. Been there, still there, & expect to see future crash days. I haven't flown any of my three 450s since last year, so I'm getting some flight time in with the micro helis so I'll be on point when I get back to flying the big birds. Stay in touch and I hope to hear from you.
Enjoyed it Willie. Started flying about a month ago on the sim and just got the blade 130x. Will try and get some posts up on here as well. I like seeing us beginners on here. :) Getting good on the sim but wow do the nerves kick in, in the real life. hahaha good stuff.
Welcome to my channel, friend, and to flying helis. Awesome, addictive experience isn't it? I agree with you that flying the sim is great, but the churning of the blades and the fear of actually tearing up your bird are quite different in real life. Please stay in touch and left me know how you're progressing. Here's my email to: hillpics1@aol.com
Thanks, Will do. you can also check me out at KJsHotSpot.com I do laser cutting and engraving. ----- not the reason I contacted you just an fyi and my email is info@kjshotspot.com I have a couple emails and this is my business one so I take it more seriously. ;) happy flying and nice to meet you.
Hey, I checked out your web site and it looks like you've got a great business going. Thanks for sharing that information. Have a successful 2015 business year and I wish you a healthy year as well. Stay in touch.
Hey great vid I hope to move up to the Blade 450X I am starting with the 120sr and get some confidence , I hate to buy a 450 and crash it on my first flight , I ordered the 120 right after looking at your vid on it I think is was well layed out and you made it look easy , Like I said i can not wait to get a 450 when I am ready for it thanks !!
Thanks. I promise you that once you master flying the 120SR you will have laid down a good foundation for moving up to the Nano cpx or the 450X. Even now when I don't feel like driving out to the flying field I fly both 120SR/Nano helis in the backyard now that I've become more proficient with the 450X. You've got the "correct" attitude about being patient and benefiting from flying lessons as they come. I know I have been able to maintain all of my helis in one piece because I didn't try to push the envelope and move beyond my skill set. Enjoy and I wish you lots of success.
Pablo, thanks for your comment. I've gotten much better since June and the training with the Nano & sim have payed off in dividends. Currently, I'm refurbishing a 450 clone and hope to have another bird to continue my experience with helicopters.
+Tick Tock Ok. I've been doing a lot of quad flying lately plus I smacked up this 450 twice now. I bought a replacement the following day and it's in mourning because I haven't flown it very much either. I have all the parts but just haven't gotten around to repairing this one again. I'm a little bummed out over the two crashes. Take care.
Willie, Sorry to hear about the 450X ... :O( You can set up the AR7200BX in different modes of flight. I believe the normal mode would be easy or basic flight mode... Check your manual.. I am looking at the Blade 200 SRX with and without the TX... If I buy the TX it would be the DX6i...
+Tick Tock I caused the first crash by flying into the sun then freaked out on the maiden flight after I'd repaired it. I highly suggest the DX6 instead of the 6i. Cost a bit more but you'll be a happy camper.
Nice video! I learned to fly RC on the original MCPx and then the 450x in 2012, and yeah, I was nervous too!...lol. You can search "Jeff's flight 450x" and see a short video I made when I was trying to learn inverted flight. Went to fixed wing in 2013, sold the heli and regretted it ever since. Finally got another 450x this past weekend and can't wait to give heli another go!
Hey, thanks for checking out the channel and leaving a comment. I think it's great that you've gotten back to flying the 450X size helis because so much energy and time goes into mastering the skill set. I finally blew out the tail servo on this bird and it's sitting around because I just don't have the desire to fix it. I have a brand new backup that I've only flown a few flights so I'm still in he saddle. Nice to have a spare. I hope you subscribe to the channel if you have already done so. Enjoy!
I am new to the game Willie,i have enjoyed your videos. I started with the 230s,started my first flight ok,had some issues, pilot error...not sure, but busted frame, just above landing gear... I sent it back for repairs.. In the mean time, should have the new Nano cps tomorrow... I've been practicing on the sim, with the 450x as you suggested. I love this new hobby, any help or suggestions you have, please share with me bud. Thanks again for your videos!!!
+Todd Newhall Todd, thanks for your kind compliments and welcome to serious world of HELICOPTERS! They can possess you... Sorry, to hear about your bad beginnings with the 230s I believe the SAFE technology is a wonderful invention but it can let to the false impression that you can't destroy your model because there is a "bailout" switch. A lot of newbies are finding that out. Send me your email address and I'll send you whatever info I can. My email address: hillpics1@aol.com Title the subject matter "Send Heli Info"
+Todd Newhall I just did buy the new Phoenix Sim, and it have ALL the known models, and you connect your Remote to your PC and the flying is just as real as outside. If your like me, you will get a chock over how precisely it behave, after what type you choose, and you can set all, wind and weather and where to fly, it's SO cool. The BEST money I have given out to develop my skills, for here I can try all of and crash as much as I like and that make skills faster, like a lot faster... Have fun :)
+Xnoo peeX Here are my suggestions. Because you did not tell me of your flying skills I'm going to assume that you have some sim & co-axial/fixed-pitch heli flying. 1) Buy RF7 simulator (if you don't have it) & Blade 230S @ $300 2) Buy RF7 simulator (if you don't have it) and three (3) WLtoys-V977 @$276 us.banggood.com/Wholesale-Warehouse-WLtoys-V977-Power-Star-X1-6CH-2_4G-Flybarless-RC-Helicopter-wp-Usa-914247.html 3) Personally, I think the V977 is the better deal. Although it doesn't have SAFE technology you will find that the 6G mode is almost equal to the SAFE feature because the heli's flight is so docile. Plus you have three helis for the cost of one. It's your call. Note: Currently the V977 is on sale so don't let this deal slip away. I hope this helps. Enjoy!
+Xnoo peeX I find it harder to stabilize in beginner mode, and more easy in intermediate... Crazy... I find is VERY hard to even hold still as it want wonder off all time even no or much wind, shal it do so? The Blade 230S
+Willie Hill, Is Phoenix Sim not just as good???? It look VERY good at my 27" PC HDMI screen with a super graphics card... But is the other better? And if, how much better and why? Hope you have time for answer :)
nice flying. its nice to see a video of someone flying a 3d heli like a helicopter for once. i have the blade 130 and a 200srx the 130 is way to unstable and i was thinking of a blade 450 i can get one brand new for 260 . what are your impressions so far
+Joseph Rueck Thanks for your comment and it's a fact that I didn't get into flying helis in order to be the next 3D jock on the block. There's just as much enjoyment flying this bird in sports mode with a few basic 3D moves thrown in. I've had a 130 model and hated it. I understand the 200srx is decent. My impression of the 450X: I love it. I find it to be very forgiving, lots of power, and simple to repair. Make certain if you do buy the one you mentioned that it has metal geared servos, especially in the tail. Mine was not equipped with metal servos, blew its tail, imploded on itself, and I had to virtually rebuild the heli although HH sent me for free all of the parts that I needed. New models are equipped with metal servos. Enjoy! BTW: $260 is a good price if the heli is brand new. (I wonder why the price is so low though).
its probably the older model with plastic servos lol. theres an updated version called a 450 v2 with high speed servos and a couple of up grades only thing is I think its over 400 dollars. i just got done rebuilding my 130 and it hovers smooth and doesn't vibrate but the second you go to move it or it starts drifting it can get out of control real quick
+Joseph Rueck You're correct in that the V2 has the better servos and the cost is a little more because of that. I had the same issues with my 130 and just getting it to lift off the ground was a challenge that usually ended up with the tail gears blowing.
i flew my 130 in way to windy conditions yesterday and had to duck for my life almost hit me in the head. its a very hard to control heli. but with higher head speed it seems to stable out but i hate the short flight times. if i do get a 450 I will have to use extreem caution and not fly in wind and just practice hovering. do you notice a significant amount of stability with the 450 compared to the 130. i realy just want to do mellow scale flying all that 3d stuff looks a bit anouying if i want 3d il take my viking 3s for a spin.(thats the eflite bipe) allot of fun
+Joseph Rueck Joseph, you always have to exercise EXTREME caution when flying helis, even the little one that you're flying. Also, the larger the heli the more stable and easier it is to fly. BTW: I just came back from flying and totaled the heli in this video (lost orientation in the sun) No, I haven't cried as of yet...maybe later tonight (LOL!).
Hey, Jonathan, thanks for checking on me. Let me put it this way. I hadn't flown a heli for nearly a year and when I took it out for a flight back in June I was so shaky on the sticks and afraid of the thing I set it down after one flight and called it a day. I'm into jets and WWII stuff and haven't kept my heli skills up. I'm going to need some sim time to get back to where I was. What are you up to? I hope you're well, too. Enjoy!
Patrick, I keep a flight log and presently I have 2 3/4 hours on the servos and no problems. Yet! That might not be a lot of flight time because I just started flying my 450X a few months ago.
James, thanks for leaving a comment. This heli size uses a gyro for stabilization but there is no auto leveling function. It's all manual flying. Enjoy, and become a subscriber to the channel if you like it's content. I hope this answer helps.

Have fun :)
Thats gonna be tough to try ur 3d move on 450x... I know I would be really nervous
Great Flying!!!
What do you think about learing with the blade 230s?
The "Stability mode" is like flying a coax heli?
+Xnoo peeX Here are my suggestions. Because you did not tell me of your flying skills I'm going to assume that you have some sim & co-axial/fixed-pitch heli flying.
1) Buy RF7 simulator (if you don't have it) & Blade 230S @ $300
2) Buy RF7 simulator (if you don't have it) and three (3) WLtoys-V977 @$276
us.banggood.com/Wholesale-Warehouse-WLtoys-V977-Power-Star-X1-6CH-2_4G-Flybarless-RC-Helicopter-wp-Usa-914247.html
3) Personally, I think the V977 is the better deal.
Enjoy!
Thank you very much! (I'm beginner with Helikopters but flying skils)
BTW: I just came back from flying and totaled the heli in this video (lost orientation in the sun) No, I haven't cried as of yet...maybe later tonight (LOL!).
correction Willie,Blade Nano cpx,,,
nice
Allan Lewicki Allan, thanks. I'm still flying this model and loving it.
I found the right thumbs up button
Do you still fly RC helicopters haven't heard from you in a while hope all is well with you.
Enjoy!
How are the stock plastic gear servos holding up?
Patrick, I keep a flight log and presently I have 2 3/4 hours on the servos and no problems. Yet! That might not be a lot of flight time because I just started flying my 450X a few months ago.
Are you using any auto leveling in this flight, or everything manual?
James, thanks for leaving a comment. This heli size uses a gyro for stabilization but there is no auto leveling function. It's all manual flying. Enjoy, and become a subscriber to the channel if you like it's content. I hope this answer helps.
How can I get in touch with you about helis
hillpics1@aol.com or 954-599-0300 cell
I also have one
I have two. This one's tail rotor finally died but I've been too lazy to repair it, so I'm using the other one to continue flying.
Really don't like the look for the blade canopies
True that's why I bought a red one for better visibility. Thanks for commenting. Enjoy!
