I think the species is protected, so if you do an illegal Primagen, your name will be blacklisted. And the creator of the species can legally take your OC and put it up for sale or do something else with it. The same goes for the Protogen species I think.
@@yoioioiuonn235 They can't, actually. An example, JK Rowling owns Harry Potter but if you make a young male wizard who gets abused and goes to a magic school she can't take that character from you. In that same line of thinking if you make a fake Pokemon, Pokemon can't take that character and claim it as theirs. Sorry, but there's no legal way that can take a custom character that you created regardless of what species it is, closed or not. It's called OC "original character" for a reason. Now if you were taking an exact copy of one of their previously made characters detail for detail that would be different.
As far as the "name being blacklisted" that means... nothing unless you were maybe planning to drop 400-500 in the future to purchase one from the creator you aren't going to run into a problem. Or unless the creator of that species once again makes the blacklist public and has their fans harass and attack everyone on that list.
@@sewber9913 huh, I swore I saw somewhere that the creator of Protogen or Primagen could legally take from you if you made an illegal specimen of the species. Like, not literally copying someone else's character, but making an illegal original proto/prima character.
I think I saw this in a video about closed species. Even so, I believe that people still need to respect the original author's preference, if the species is closed it is closed, so please respect it. If a certain original species cannot have wings, then please respect the author's preference.
If you’re still going to make an illegal OC, please have respect for those who really work hard to do something as original as possible, those who really try and put love and months of work into what they created. It must be really sad that you create something that took you so long and then people keep breaking rules and overpowering OCs and you are still criticized by your own work. And when you try to do something about it, you are still very criticized by others.

I actually think it's a good thing that the original creator kept the primagen closed so he could have personal OCs for himself and a few close friends. And its pretty generous of him to have gone out of the way to make an entirely new species just to appease the fandom.

@@MouseSkull theyre only simple like theyre 40 percent mechanical in the areas shown they can have 2 ears and horns and horn designs and tail designs are up to you. ultra rare protogens can have 3 ears and wings. theyre pretty open tbh like 3 ears and wings arent too appealing for a character and imo overdo it so
Tbh I agree. I don't like closed species either, especially if the creators are special snowflakes. I admit, I like the design and the idea, but because of the restrictions you get, no matter how little they me, I feel like it's not really an open species anymore talking in terms of the Protogen. For me, it looks like someone gets paid so someone else can use their idea and visualise it.

Primagens are closed. Protogens are regulated to not look too similar to the first.
@@lev7509 They still look pretty similar, to be honest. Creatively it can be a little problematic because it limits what you can do with a design for fear of being blacklisted. Makes me a little scared to draw furry stuff, to be honest.

There no such thing as a "close species" you're free to make a primagen OC with all of the modification to yourself as long as you're not copying other. It's like making a charmander with a diffrent color sceme and appearance and the Creator of the game suddenly making a lawsuit on you. Also the "blacklist" thing that the creator put up is technically illegal as it encourage other people harassing innocent people. The most sensible thing to do in my opinion is just to credit the creator of the species in your artwork.

I absolutely adore the species and have a protogen OC myself too! But am I the only one that finds it rediculous that some primagens go for 1200$? Yes, sure, its your species, no one can stop you from putting a pricetag on it. But 1200$??

I’m so glad you’re doing this. There are so many species in the fandom, some which are extremely popular and visible. I hope you also get to cover some of the lesser known species because it’s always fun to find new species you didn’t know existed before
I'd love to make a protogen but the creator's greed really puts me off on the species, despite claiming that it's an "open species" they claim you have to pay them $200 if you want large wings because it's a "rare trait". Sure you get a reference sheet but i can make one myself. The fact that the threat community backlash or possible legal action over a character with arbitrary traits is ridiculous.
I have blue eyes yet I didn't have to pay fucking $200 to get them. That sounds really damn shitty ngl

I don't really have a fursona, but I had an idea similar to the protegent if I ever wanted to have one.
Basically:
- The name of the character would be: "Anubis"
- Basically 100% a robot
- The ears are not biological and are modeled after the Egyptian jackal ears, but longer and sharp at the top, capable of detecting nearby hostiles by echolocation
- The headset visor would be a combination between the existing protegent, but with an added tint of Watch dogs 2 Wrench mask. And it would be more vertical
- The right paw (or more like a claw) would be able to be used as a hijacking tool for computer systems (heavily inspired by the mindjacking in Cyberpunk 2077), that can function in wireless mode and wired, using 4 ports one for each part of the claw
- The legs would be able not only of incredible speed, but also vertical movement/parkour (Titanfall 2 as a reference), which also results in a standing pose of the character in a continuous "ready" position, slightly crawled with legs " sprung", ready to leap
- Would be almost completely customizable with upgrades and the possibility of changing parts at any time. Upgrades to the existing gear would not have negative effects, but as soon as a big modification are done (like changing an arm/leg), the part would initially stay in a "basic" mode for a certain amount of time , an "accepting phase" (only normal functions, no cool techno mumbo jumbo, and no possibility of self-repair if it gets damaged during this phase), depending on the complexity and quality of the part (like: a rare and in good condition part would take a while to be accepted, and an equally rare but damaged part needs more time)
- The personality would be kind of "basic": an agent that can be deployed for both industrial/private espionage and a killer: kill target, accomplish the mission, do it cleanly and get out.
He's been invented by a private network of hitman and hackers, that can do any job for the right price and have no moral standards on what jobs they accept.
He's been designed for the purpose of highly dangerous targets and missions that would put at way too much risk for the other members of the network (of course the payment that the client gives is split to all the agents if Anubis accomplish the mission).
And that's about it. Hmm... I may be interested in making this a fully fledged fursona, but I'm gonna need money and help from better artists than me.

A species that reuses plenty of concepts that already existed and then claims to own them acting like anyone who wants to make their own creation based on it is a thief or even anyone who has similiar inspirations.

I made a protogen fursona called "Unit-03" and it's a very bulky unit with large metal plating / armor, and with a generator on his back. His profession is "Force Control" as his part in the C.F.D (City Force Department). He is used as brute force control for various riots and other major events.
Thank you for telling me all I need to know without filler, pauses, or promotions. Information goes down so easy when you do the telling! Now I know what the heck a protogen is. :) I won't be making one any time soon though.... I like being one hundred percent warm fluffy mammal too much! :)

The only thing enforcing the exclusivity of closed species is social pressure; they are unenforceable in a court of law.

@@rewindd not exactly but horns and wings yes and I don't think you have to put 3 sets of ears cause I've seen fanart of some protogens which have horns and one set of ears and it hasn't been taken down by the creator of the Proto and Primagens

this is really cool ive been a fan of them from when they first hit the furry fandom but the info and backstory on them was very fuzzy for me as i have no idea what they was or there purpose but this has helped alot to understand them more

Someone should make a proto-gen fur suit, but the twist is, it’s like a broken proto-gen, a cracked face-visor-head-screen, rusted patches of metal, loose wires, some cracks in the metal plating. Maybe? I think it’s a cool idea, but it ain’t up to me, I can’t make it myself or afford a commission, maybe the commissioner could name it something like error? Maybe glitch? Just an idea
I made a protogen for their job to just be fluffy...
I use to be against them, I’m slowly becoming one now.

I have furry ocs that have an outside like an animal but are mechanical in the inside, with some parts like the eyes and mouth still animal and part of the brain being enhanced by machinary.
