Small update everyone! Since posting this vid, I have seen a more clear version of the trailer and wanted to make a few corrections. The person at the 7:11 mark is Jodie Turner Smith, the "little girl" running away from the recognizer is Greta Lee's character, and the normal people running down the hall are actually programs! Sorry guys! I can't wait to break down whatever trailer they officially release whenever they release it
I'd guess September or October. It finished filming back in May, but this film is so CGI heavy, I'd imagine it'll take a while for the VFX artist to make enough parts of the film look really good for a trailer. Jared Leto himself said the trailer that was shown at D23 was "rough". I think after another month or two of editing, it should look perfect for release.
I have new info regarding main characters in the film. Greta Lee's character is Eve Kim, a brilliant Programmer, who is an antisocial recluse that forms a sympathetic bond with Ares. She will be the main human lead of the film. Jodie Turner Smith will play Athena, a Military Special Forces Unit Program that will presumably be Ares' second in command. She is described as cold, officious, & imposing. When she senses that her superior (presumably Ares) is starting to stray from the mission, she reports him without hesitation & assumes command of the Unit. Athena will do anything to achieve her goal, even if it means destroying Ares in the process. Athena is open to any directive & will carry it out without question. Athena is also described as a "tragic figure." The next character is another Military Program named Canus, who is a soldier who suddenly experiences fear in a battle & starts to question war itself. I would LOVE to agree with you. But I wear this necklace EVERY DAY and when people ask me where it's from, the first thing I ask them is "do you know what Tron is? Or Tron Legacy? " and they almost always say no😭 I be like how tf not?!

He was and still is my biggest worry of the movie. I'm hoping literally everyone else in the cast carries the film honestly😬 but I do think he's at least a decent actor.
Long Live the Users!! Flynn Lives!! Something tells me we are going to get more surprises along the way. For the record, a digital invasion was part of the initial plan for a sequel. If that is indeed Kevin Flynn, the same Flynn we know from the previous films, then that micro drive Sam backed that grid onto, has been put in use. As for the triangular discs, and crazy (cool new) design for the vehicles, I believe they are from a different type of computer system. Instead of ENCOM, they are from Dillinger Systems. Something I don't get: if the footage shown looks like a teaser trailer, why didn't they release it publically?
I like the way the scenes are shot, the director is good, it looks epic. I think Sam, Quorra, Alan and Ares will meet at Sam's container home, otherwise why did the film crew shoot there. No way can Disney be so stupid to leave the previous characters out.
Dude you wanna know something crazy. Google the actor that plays Sam. As he's gotten older, he kinda looks like a young Jeff Bridges. Like when he has his full grown beard and stuff😂 so it'd be super cool to see him in 3, looking more and more like his "Dad"
As far as we know, he's just not in it unfortunately. But we're all hoping for a surprise cameo or just a surprise role from the actor who played him in Legacy
I really hope they are keeping Sam and Quorra at least as a secret cameo. I cannot imagine continuation of the story without them as a bridge form Legacy.

I so hope that this brings attention back to Tron: Uprising, so they can make a second season. That show was so good, it's a shame they never got to finish it.
The only thing I hear is that Garrett and Olivia won't be returning as Sam and Quorra, so maybe they died in the car crash in Offscreen between Tron Legacy and Ares. As for Cillian Murphy, I think he will be back, although we can't see him in the trailer, only in the movie (like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, where they didn't appear in the trailer, but were able to appear in No Way Home).
I feel like Tron Legacy was actually a genius follow up to Tron but people couldn't understand it so Disney scrapped it. They should have brought back Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde, as well as the sub-plot with Cillian Murphy and Seth Rogan. That whole lead-in that they had in Legacy was amazing. And for them to just scrap all of that and bring it into the real world, I'm not sure how it's really going to work. On the grid and they should have dispatched small programs to try to find Cora and then Sam has to not just fight the programs from the grid but also the corporation at Encom

Just as a side note...Ed Dillinger was an *antagonist*, not a protagonist. Also, keep in mind that one of the major conceits in Tron in the first place was that programs were mirror images of their Users...which is why tron looks like Alan, Sark and MCP look like Dillinger (at different ages), etc.

I mean I think he failed to mention that in the first movie Dillinger’s representative in the game world is literally the character Tron. Tron was also the head henchman with the two power disks in the second movie, under the control of Flynn’s evil copy
What's up KaptainKay? Just realized something: the symbol Jeff Bridges is wearing on his chest is actually the same one FLYNN wore in TRON 1982. MY THEORY: In TRON Ares, Jeff Bridges is playing a merged combination of BOTH Kevin Flynn and CLU 1.0 (from the first film). How? Lemme break it down: 1)Again, the triangular symbol on his chest; 2)When a program is deleted/derezzed, there is STILL traces of it in your computer UNLESS you wipe the hard drive completely clean. That means that BOTH Kevin & CLU2.0's code was in Kevin's private server in Legacy AND possibly still in the OLD Encom server where CLU1.0 was. At the end of Legacy, Sam uploaded a TON of data to his flash drive - and the BluRay has a SECOND SCREEN feature that actually shows what Sam was uploading to his '82 Identity Disc style flash drive. Maybe Sam (after taking control of ENCOM) snuck into the server room, uploaded the data from his flash drive to the ENCOM Server as well as extracting the data of CLU1.0's data from the Old Encom Server OR maybe he found an old floppy disc his Father left with CLU1.0 on it😉 Looking fwd to finding out and I hope TRON Ares will clear that up. I just can't deal with the movie being off the grid. I get it, its more expensive of a movie to make on the grid, but Tron IS the grid as it is as much of a character as all of the other characters. Its a high hurdle for me to get over to enjoy the movie.
ever since the first one came out when i was 9, i have checked on updates for a sequel every single year, felt delusional at one point. but holy shit we made it. i dont like jared leto, but the movie sounds like an amazing concept that can go way farther then just this film. i cant believe we made it, we are so back

Great video! Thanks for sharing the trailer. A few years ago they had a special anniversary TRON/TRON: Legacy double feature in Hollywood with a panel of cast and creators. It was so fun seeing both movies on the big screen back-to-back. I hope they do something like that again, and bring back ElecTRONica to Disney's California Adventure. I drew Megan Good as MERCURY from TRON 2.0 using Sketchbook Pro Mobile on my phone and also drew a bunch of lightcycles and other things ( TRON 2.0 is a game that came out years ago that is a follow-up to the first film, Joe Kosinski did not consider it canon but it is similar to Legacy). I also wish the TRON ARES title incorporated more of Syd Mead's iconic lettering like the first film and Legacy did.

If this is successful, they could bring Cillian Murphy back as Edward Dillinger Jr. Sam & Quorra could also come back for potential future installments. I'm just grateful that we have another "Tron" to look forward too. The mere fact that another "Tron" movie got made at all is both a miracle & an achievement worth celebrating. Yes, I know it's Tron 3, but the fact there's lightning in the sky, smoke/steam and wind in a digital virtual environment is very weird, especially as photoreal ray-tracing mods was not used by Kevin Flynn (that he mentions) to design his virtual world (like say the modding community for Cyberpunk 2077 does) but left it in Tron Legacy to an artificial intelligent program/construct, Clu, that was not apparently trained with real world examples (a whole bag of implausibility since a.i. content generators and Chat GPT wasn't invented when Clu was created by Flynn).
Understandable. It's definitely one of those things where you kind of have to turn your brain off and not take it too seriously. Because it's honestly more complicated than it sounds. The whole graphics thing and Ray tracing isn't really a factor because what we see in the film isn't technically visible? Like remember what he says at the very beginning of the film "I tried to picture clusters of information as they moved through the computer What did they look like? Ships? Motorcycles? Were the circuits like freeways?" None of those things use graphics, in our world, it's just zeros, ones, and electricity. But that's part of the appeal in Tron, giving those things an imaginative representation. And with Clu, he didn't GIVE him the grid or leave it to him, he took it. Clu is a program, and just like any program, he was given a specific task "create the perfect world". Humans are not perfect. So, since humans aren't perfect, they need to be eliminated (in Clus eyes). Because how can the perfect world be created when all these not perfect being inhabit it. And that's on brand for pretty much most A.I centered films
Meh… They really messed up by not continuing the story from Legacy, it was setting up to be an awesome franchise. But Disney been doing bad choices for a bit. Welp ya’ll enjoy the film, I’ll just stick with tron and tron legacy.
The one glimmer of hope I have is that from what I've heard, this movie is taking a lot of things that were supposed to be in the original Tron 3 film. I assume it just would've been Sam dealing with programs coming to the real world. Fingers crossed it'll turn out well
I was fortunate to have my mind blown twice by this franchise, first in 1982 with the OG variant and then again in 2010 (big time) but I suspect the same will not be true for Ares though I hope I may be wrong. That shot of Kevin Flynn looks like he's either in one of the OG tank programs or something of a similar architecture based on the first build of the grid from 1982. Still pretty cool! Oh, and did you you mean to say *antagonist* re: the Dillingers since they're probably the villains? Protagonists are always the heroes of the story. 🤓
So I don't necessarily disagree with you. But the box office numbers do, and you know that's all it really comes down to for Disney. They just want money.

That doesn't mean it will be a bad film. With a reduced budget, the film actually may be more imaginative & creative that way. Look at "Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan" which was made for a mere $11 million dollars. And it not only was it critically acclaimed, but it was also a bonafide hit grossing over $78 million dollars domestically & $ 97 million dollars worldwide. While this was less than the first "Star-Trek" which made $82 million dollars domestic & a $140 million-dollars worldwide totals against a massive $46 million dollar budget, the second "Star Trek" film still managed to make a tidy profit, because it was made for so little money & the movie emphasized story & character development over special effects. Something they could very well be doing with the new "Tron." I think "Tron: Aries" will be a surprise hit. What do you think?
@@erickvoshel1 I think bro that we need to hope for the best. Tron legacy was a beautiful film but a missed opportunity because it could have been a better story. It had a big budget but focused too much on the past instead of the present. So I hope this story is amazing because definitely the grid was not used to the fullest potential in the last film. In my opinion Tron uprising would have made a better film than legacy ! Disney barely wanted to make the 3rd tron film. If it wasn't for Jared and bridges I don't think it would have gotten made. And Joseph Kosinski was let go from the directors chair because he vision was too grand again he wanted it mostly on the grid again with more action. Disney's focus has been on the marvel and Star wars films thats were they want to spend there money. So I knew they were going to short change Tron in some way I just hope the story makes up for it . Because I love the grid thats what I would rather see than the real world. Disney has found that they can do this even with the star wars films which is mostly forest and land scenes now. Everyone should not own the rights to everything this is how things get short changed or less quality. I hope you are right though I think it will be possibly more original than tron legacy but visually ? Not sure. Thats just my take Bro. I am happy NIN is doing the ost though. Daft punk gave all they had in that last soundtrack which is why i think they are defunct. Hopefully Trent will give us to good sounds. Hes been doing all David Finchers films so I think we should be ok.
@@vikaghostwave I think the trailer will give us a better idea of what to expect. Personally, I'm glad that they are doing something completely different from the first two "Trons." A new cast, a new director, a new storyline & new characters could be what the franchise needs to introduce the world of "Tron to a whole new audience & widen the franchise's appeal to a bigger audience. Could it pull a "Batman: Forever" & defy all odds by making significantly more money than "Tron: Legacy?" Absolutely! Joel Schumacher said that they went into "Batman: Forever" being told constantly that no one wanted another "Batman" film. And like "Tron: Aries," "Batman: Forever" was the third entry in the "Batman" film franchise & the studio shortchanged the movie by incorporating a lighter tone to it in order to sell more toys & sell more Happy Meals. They also recast Batman & only two actors from the first two "Batman" movies came back. They replaced Tim Burton as director with Joel Schumacher & replaced pretty much the entire production team from the first two movies. Yet, despite this, "Batman Forever" made more money than the previous "Batman". Now does "Tron: Aries" need to make "Star-Wars" level money to be successful? No. Look at the recent "Planet of the Apes" movie which is also a Disney production & that made solid money & became a sleeper hit. I'm convinced that the same will happen with "Tron: Aries." @@erickvoshel1 All we can do is hope ! They are definitely trying to go for a lighter tone. I think uprising myself was the perfect balance different story but familiar and plenty of action and dark enough. I thought Batman forever was a good movie. But not better than the first two films. This is were I am not a mass appeal type person. Ares definitely needed a new cast the son of flynn was horrible in the last one. I would have rather seen the guy that played in Speed Racer on the Grid lol. But I feel you have some good points I just wish that we could have at least saw what Josephs world would have been with more action in it. Tron legacy they could have did like a 45 min montage of the past and the rest of the film could have been in the future with new characters and development and more action and light cycles. I hope the real world is only like maybe 45 mins of this movie and the rest the grid. Users and programs belong were they belong that's what made Tron so intelligent and brilliant. I think your references are good Wrath of Khan is a masterpiece. If you are talking about the original and not that remake garbage. But yes, I see your point of view and hopefully more people feel the same for the sake of the movie. Honestly though if this one does not do well I think disney will probably not do any more again for very long time. They took a loss on legacy the reason it took this long. I hope Erik is right as well! And I honestly didn't know about the previous director revealing their initial plans for a sequel. I absolutely agree about Uprising making a better film. Imagine an Uprising living action film? A sequel showing the downfall of Tron? Brooooo that'd be AMAZING. I also personally wish they'd do a remake of OG Tron, with updated visuals. I feel like another part of Trons shortcomings are that the OG story is better than Legacy, but visually less appealing. And like you said, Legacy relied too much on the past. So if they made the first film more appealing visually for a general audience, then the second film would hit a little different imo. Either way, I am super excited for this and I hope it does well! I'm gonna be campaigning like crazy to keep the hype train going for this film as much as possible
Maybe Dillinger stole the code from Sam’s necklace chip and made their own grid using old code from the old grid. Kevin Flynn could be playing the old CLU, who was far more helpful to the users. Either way, I just hope they do the previous films justice. I hope they use elements from uprising too

I really hope this sequel doesn't taint the rest of the franchise. I feel so insecure knowing this isn't a spinoff or prequel. The fact we've had so much lore and worldbuilding during the Legacy/Evolution/Uprising era, it's hard to imagine a REAL continuation of the narrative. I really hope they aren't making this movie "just because everybody wanted another TRON movie." There needs to be a good reason why because I thought Legacy's ending was perfect.
I personally would've preferred a new film focusing more on how things go on the grid, but I do know that a third film was always planned and the plan was always to bring programs to our world. Hopefully they do it right!

I love Tron Legacy, but with no mention of Sam or Quorra in Ares, it all feels a bit distant. The only thing that feels right is the programs invading the real world which was CLU's plan in Legacy, and a version of Jeff Bridges returning. I'm sceptical but optimistic about this one...
I recognize (pun intended) that Legacy is not an objectively good movie given its storytelling, character development, and Sam's stupid one-liners; however, I think the spectacle and the soundtrack of that movie alone was exceptional. If Ares can do that too, I'll be happy. Given the NIN soundtrack and the visuals so far, I think that's a given. But if they did the story well, I'll be even happier.

I think they are continuing off the grid as that was how Legacy ended, which was controversial. How does a program or that entity work in the real world? I always thought it was ahead of its time in what is now a popular theory online about us all living in a simulation. The real world has the Fibonacci sequence and all kinds of brilliant math all around in nature. Maybe this is playing around with that idea. After all, after Flynn created the grid, Legacy tells us that a beautiful, natural thing happened when it gave life to beings like Quorra. It could tie in that our natural world is very much the same, and maybe that shot of Flynn, looking even older on the old grid, is him sorta as God. They could really run with it so many ways and I just hope the story is good. I'm one of those who loved Daft Punk in Legacy but I didn't think that was the only saving grace of it, like many have thought. I think the story a brilliant follow up to the original. @@kaptainkaysden4031 My mom & I rewatched the first two "Trons" over the weekend on Disney Plus. While she liked the first "Tron", she said that "Legacy" was better than the first, which I agree with. And while the third film won't be following Sam Flynn & Quorra, I am even more excited for this one precisely because it will finally do something completely different & explore different situations with an all-new cast & all new characters. Plus, it would be hard to do a continuation of "Legacy after the franchise has laid dormant once again for a decade. It makes sense to give the franchise a semi-reboot to introduce it to a whole new audience. The only cast member from the first two films that will return is Jeff Bridges & from the looks of it, at least the film confirms my theory that Clu merged with Kevin Flynn at the end of "Legacy." This whole thing with "Tron: Aries" reminds me of the production of "Batman: Forever" about how the franchise was at a crossroads when Warner Bros. decided to recast Batman with another actor & replace Tim Burton as director after the success of the first two with Joel Schumacher & make it more kid friendly, & lighter & brighter. And while "Forever" made more money than "Returns" both domestically & worldwide, it received even more mixed reviews than "Batman Returns" did. Understand, I'm not saying that "Tron: Aries" will have the same issues that "Batman: Forever" had, but it does have people that like "Batman" are saying they don't want another "Tron" film, that it's already doomed because it has Jared Leto in the film, that he isn't leading man material, but my advice is to wait until the movie comes out. I have a feeling that this movie will be awesome & become a sleeper hit just like the first two "Trons" did. What do you think? Small update everyone! Since posting this vid, I have seen a more clear version of the trailer and wanted to make a few corrections. The person at the 7:11 mark is Jodie Turner Smith, the "little girl" running away from the recognizer is Greta Lee's character, and the normal people running down the hall are actually programs! Sorry guys! I can't wait to break down whatever trailer they officially release whenever they release it

I'd guess September or October. It finished filming back in May, but this film is so CGI heavy, I'd imagine it'll take a while for the VFX artist to make enough parts of the film look really good for a trailer. Jared Leto himself said the trailer that was shown at D23 was "rough". I think after another month or two of editing, it should look perfect for release.
I have new info regarding main characters in the film. Greta Lee's character is Eve Kim, a brilliant Programmer, who is an antisocial recluse that forms a sympathetic bond with Ares. She will be the main human lead of the film. Jodie Turner Smith will play Athena, a Military Special Forces Unit Program that will presumably be Ares' second in command. She is described as cold, officious, & imposing. When she senses that her superior (presumably Ares) is starting to stray from the mission, she reports him without hesitation & assumes command of the Unit. Athena will do anything to achieve her goal, even if it means destroying Ares in the process. Athena is open to any directive & will carry it out without question. Athena is also described as a "tragic figure." The next character is another Military Program named Canus, who is a soldier who suddenly experiences fear in a battle & starts to question war itself. For the record, a digital invasion was part of the initial plan for a sequel. If that is indeed Kevin Flynn, the same Flynn we know from the previous films, then that micro drive Sam backed that grid onto, has been put in use. As for the triangular discs, and crazy (cool new) design for the vehicles, I believe they are from a different type of computer system. Instead of ENCOM, they are from Dillinger Systems.

The only thing I hear is that Garrett and Olivia won't be returning as Sam and Quorra, so maybe they died in the car crash in Offscreen between Tron Legacy and Ares. As for Cillian Murphy, I think he will be back, although we can't see him in the trailer, only in the movie (like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, where they didn't appear in the trailer, but were able to appear in No Way Home).
I feel like Tron Legacy was actually a genius follow up to Tron but people couldn't understand it so Disney scrapped it. They should have brought back Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde, as well as the sub-plot with Cillian Murphy and Seth Rogan. That whole lead-in that they had in Legacy was amazing. And for them to just scrap all of that and bring it into the real world, I'm not sure how it's really going to work. On the grid and they should have dispatched small programs to try to find Cora and then Sam has to not just fight the programs from the grid but also the corporation at Encom
I think after the release of Tron Ares, the Tron trilogy will soon be completed.

Just as a side note...Ed Dillinger was an *antagonist*, not a protagonist. Also, keep in mind that one of the major conceits in Tron in the first place was that programs were mirror images of their Users...which is why tron looks like Alan, Sark and MCP look like Dillinger (at different ages), etc.

What's up KaptainKay? Just realized something: the symbol Jeff Bridges is wearing on his chest is actually the same one FLYNN wore in TRON 1982. MY THEORY: In TRON Ares, Jeff Bridges is playing a merged combination of BOTH Kevin Flynn and CLU 1.0 (from the first film). How? Lemme break it down:
1)Again, the triangular symbol on his chest;
2)When a program is deleted/derezzed, there is STILL traces of it in your computer UNLESS you wipe the hard drive completely clean. That means that BOTH Kevin & CLU2.0's code was in Kevin's private server in Legacy AND possibly still in the OLD Encom server where CLU1.0 was. At the end of Legacy, Sam uploaded a TON of data to his flash drive - and the BluRay has a SECOND SCREEN feature that actually shows what Sam was uploading to his '82 Identity Disc style flash drive. Maybe Sam (after taking control of ENCOM) snuck into the server room, uploaded the data from his flash drive to the ENCOM Server as well as extracting the data of CLU1.0's data from the Old Encom Server OR maybe he found an old floppy disc his Father left with CLU1.0 on it😉 Looking fwd to finding out and I hope TRON Ares will clear that up. I just can't deal with the movie being off the grid. I get it, its more expensive of a movie to make on the grid, but Tron IS the grid as it is as much of a character as all of the other characters. Its a high hurdle for me to get over to enjoy the movie.

Yes, I know it's Tron 3, but the fact there's lightning in the sky, smoke/steam and wind in a digital virtual environment is very weird, especially as photoreal ray-tracing mods was not used by Kevin Flynn (that he mentions) to design his virtual world (like say the modding community for Cyberpunk 2077 does) but left it in Tron Legacy to an artificial intelligent program/construct, Clu, that was not apparently trained with real world examples (a whole bag of implausibility since a.i. content generators and Chat GPT wasn't invented when Clu was created by Flynn).
Understandable. It's definitely one of those things where you kind of have to turn your brain off and not take it too seriously. Because it's honestly more complicated than it sounds. The whole graphics thing and Ray tracing isn't really a factor because what we see in the film isn't technically visible? Like remember what he says at the very beginning of the film

None of those things use graphics, in our world, it's just zeros, ones, and electricity. But that's part of the appeal in Tron, giving those things an imaginative representation. And with Clu, he didn't GIVE him the grid or leave it to him, he took it. Clu is a program, and just like any program, he was given a specific task "create the perfect world". Humans are not perfect. So, since humans aren't perfect, they need to be eliminated (in Clus eyes). Because how can the perfect world be created when all these not perfect being inhabit it. And that's on brand for pretty much most A.I centered films
Meh… They really messed up by not continuing the story from Legacy, it was setting up to be an awesome franchise. But Disney been doing bad choices for a bit. Welp ya’ll enjoy the film, I’ll just stick with tron and tron legacy.
The one glimmer of hope I have is that from what I've heard, this movie is taking a lot of things that were supposed to be in the original Tron 3 film. I assume it just would've been Sam dealing with programs coming to the real world. Fingers crossed it'll turn out well
I was fortunate to have my mind blown twice by this franchise, first in 1982 with the OG variant and then again in 2010 (big time) but I suspect the same will not be true for Ares though I hope I may be wrong. That shot of Kevin Flynn looks like he's either in one of the OG tank programs or something of a similar architecture based on the first build of the grid from 1982. Still pretty cool! Oh, and did you you mean to say *antagonist* re: the Dillingers since they're probably the villains? Protagonists are always the heroes of the story. 🤓
It seems like they’re gonna mix some of the vfx from the first movie and legacy with some new vfx in this movie. Which has me excited.

That doesn't mean it will be a bad film. With a reduced budget, the film actually may be more imaginative & creative that way. Look at "Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan" which was made for a mere $11 million dollars. And it not only was it critically acclaimed, but it was also a bonafide hit grossing over $78 million dollars domestically & $ 97 million dollars worldwide. While this was less than the first "Star-Trek" which made $82 million dollars domestic & a $140 million-dollars worldwide totals against a massive $46 million dollar budget, the second "Star Trek" film still managed to make a tidy profit, because it was made for so little money & the movie emphasized story & character development over special effects. Something they could very well be doing with the new "Tron." I think "Tron: Aries" will be a surprise hit. What do you think?
@@erickvoshel1 I think bro that we need to hope for the best. Tron legacy was a beautiful film but a missed opportunity because it could have been a better story. It had a big budget but focused too much on the past instead of the present. So I hope this story is amazing because definitely the grid was not used to the fullest potential in the last film. In my opinion Tron uprising would have made a better film than legacy ! Disney barely wanted to make the 3rd tron film. If it wasn't for Jared and bridges I don't think it would have gotten made. And Joseph Kosinski was let go from the directors chair because he vision was too grand again he wanted it mostly on the grid again with more action. Disney's focus has been on the marvel and Star wars films thats were they want to spend there money. So I knew they were going to short change Tron in some way I just hope the story makes up for it . @@vikaghostwave I think the trailer will give us a better idea of what to expect. Personally, I'm glad that they are doing something completely different from the first two "Trons." A new cast, a new director, a new storyline & new characters could be what the franchise needs to introduce the world of "Tron to a whole new audience & widen the franchise's appeal to a bigger audience. Could it pull a "Batman: Forever" & defy all odds by making significantly more money than "Tron: Legacy?" Absolutely! Joel Schumacher said that they went into "Batman: Forever" being told constantly that no one wanted another "Batman" film. And like "Tron: Aries," "Batman: Forever" was the third entry in the "Batman" film franchise & the studio shortchanged the movie by incorporating a lighter tone to it in order to sell more toys & sell more Happy Meals. They also recast Batman & only two actors from the first two "Batman" movies came back. They replaced Tim Burton as director with Joel Schumacher & replaced pretty much the entire production team from the first two movies. Yet, despite this, "Batman Forever" made more money than the previous "Batman". Now does "Tron: Aries" need to make "Star-Wars" level money to be successful? No. Look at the recent "Planet of the Apes" movie which is also a Disney production & that made solid money & became a sleeper hit. I'm convinced that the same will happen with "Tron: Aries." I think uprising myself was the perfect balance different story but familiar and plenty of action and dark enough. I thought Batman forever was a good movie. But not better than the first two films. This is were I am not a mass appeal type person. Ares definitely needed a new cast the son of flynn was horrible in the last one. I would have rather seen the guy that played in Speed Racer on the Grid lol. But I feel you have some good points I just wish that we could have at least saw what Josephs world would have been with more action in it. Tron legacy they could have did like a 45 min montage of the past and the rest of the film could have been in the future with new characters and development and more action and light cycles. Imagine an Uprising living action film? A sequel showing the downfall of Tron? Brooooo that'd be AMAZING. I also personally wish they'd do a remake of OG Tron, with updated visuals. I feel like another part of Trons shortcomings are that the OG story is better than Legacy, but visually less appealing. And like you said, Legacy relied too much on the past. So if they made the first film more appealing visually for a general audience, then the second film would hit a little different imo. Either way, I am super excited for this and I hope it does well! I'm gonna be campaigning like crazy to keep the hype train going for this film as much as possible

Maybe Dillinger stole the code from Sam’s necklace chip and made their own grid using old code from the old grid. Kevin Flynn could be playing the old CLU, who was far more helpful to the users. Either way, I just hope they do the previous films justice. I hope they use elements from uprising too

I really hope this sequel doesn't taint the rest of the franchise. I feel so insecure knowing this isn't a spinoff or prequel. The fact we've had so much lore and worldbuilding during the Legacy/Evolution/Uprising era, it's hard to imagine a REAL continuation of the narrative. I really hope they aren't making this movie "just because everybody wanted another TRON movie." There needs to be a good reason why because I thought Legacy's ending was perfect.
I personally would've preferred a new film focusing more on how things go on the grid, but I do know that a third film was always planned and the plan was always to bring programs to our world. Hopefully they do it right!

I love Tron Legacy, but with no mention of Sam or Quorra in Ares, it all feels a bit distant. The only thing that feels right is the programs invading the real world which was CLU's plan in Legacy, and a version of Jeff Bridges returning. I'm sceptical but optimistic about this one...

I recognize (pun intended) that Legacy is not an objectively good movie given its storytelling, character development, and Sam's stupid one-liners; however, I think the spectacle and the soundtrack of that movie alone was exceptional. If Ares can do that too, I'll be happy. Given the NIN soundtrack and the visuals so far, I think that's a given. But if they did the story well, I'll be even happier.

I think they are continuing off the grid as that was how Legacy ended, which was controversial. How does a program or that entity work in the real world? I always thought it was ahead of its time in what is now a popular theory online about us all living in a simulation. The real world has the Fibonacci sequence and all kinds of brilliant math all around in nature. Maybe this is playing around with that idea. After all, after Flynn created the grid, Legacy tells us that a beautiful, natural thing happened when it gave life to beings like Quorra. It could tie in that our natural world is very much the same, and maybe that shot of Flynn, looking even older on the old grid, is him sorta as God. They could really run with it so many ways and I just hope the story is good. I'm one of those who loved Daft Punk in Legacy but I didn't think that was the only saving grace of it, like many have thought. I think the story a brilliant follow up to the original. And I hope Flynn's son is in this one.

@@kaptainkaysden4031 My mom & I rewatched the first two "Trons" over the weekend on Disney Plus. While she liked the first "Tron", she said that "Legacy" was better than the first, which I agree with. And while the third film won't be following Sam Flynn & Quorra, I am even more excited for this one precisely because it will finally do something completely different & explore different situations with an all-new cast & all new characters. Plus, it would be hard to do a continuation of "Legacy after the franchise has laid dormant once again for a decade. It makes sense to give the franchise a semi-reboot to introduce it to a whole new audience. The only cast member from the first two films that will return is Jeff Bridges & from the looks of it, at least the film confirms my theory that Clu merged with Kevin Flynn at the end of "Legacy." This whole thing with "Tron: Aries" reminds me of the production of "Batman: Forever" about how the franchise was at a crossroads when Warner Bros. decided to recast Batman with another actor & replace Tim Burton as director after the success of the first two with Joel Schumacher & make it more kid friendly, & lighter & brighter. And while "Forever" made more money than "Returns" both domestically & worldwide, it received even more mixed reviews than "Batman Returns" did. Understand, I'm not saying that "Tron: Aries" will have the same issues that "Batman: Forever" had, but it does have people that like "Batman" are saying they don't want another "Tron" film, that it's already doomed because it has Jared Leto in the film, that he isn't leading man material, but my advice is to wait until the movie comes out. I have a feeling that this movie will be awesome & become a sleeper hit just like the first two "Trons" did. What do you think? Can the third "Tron" become more than just a sleeper hit & become a Bonafide blockbuster hit? Would love to hear your thoughts.
