  • Today’s video is a pattern design tutorial focused on how to create different types of pattern repeat layouts for fashion textile design. If you create surface pattern design, these are the basic print repeat types that you use when creating a repeat pattern design. And at the end, I give resources to learn to create a seamless pattern in illustrator and a seamless pattern in photoshop, helpful if you are using photoshop for textile design.

    Hi! Thank you for your video. When I create example my Width 32cm repeat do I need to make sure the repeat is show in the Height of the design too?

    • @383design
      @383design  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. I'm not sure I understand your question. I think you're asking if you have to make sure your art repeats in the height as well as the width. If so, the answer is yes. You are basically creating a tile, and if you think about ties that are laid on the ground, it repeats seamlessly side to side and top to bottom.

    Hi dear, please let me know..what size should be for the illustrator pattern design and how can I save pattern file ?thank you

    • @383design
      @383design  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for watching and commenting! The size will really depend on the printer and the roller sizes they have. I believe standard is 25 1/4" so that size or any smaller repeat size divisible by that should work. But it's always good to ask the printer what they have.
      And to save it, assuming you mean to send to the printer? Your printer should be able to use Illustrator or Photoshop files so you can save them as their native program file. I usually just show the repeat on the artboard, save the file and send that to the printer.
