An overall well put together video. Good commentary, spectacular editing and amazing rant about Ridley's down B. The only thing I thought could have been better was if the music was a tiny bit quiter because at very few occasions the music drowned out your insightful commentary. Nontheless, a good video and nice to see your still making content!
Small PSA: you can recover from dair offstage if you fullhop first. You do need both jumps and his up b. But you can pull a maneuver like stone kirby, and thats cool. Nice video! Funny and informative! But the music was a touch loud at points.
Despite this dair is still definitely Ridley's worst move and imo competitor for worst move in the game. Thanks for the feedback, in future I shall be sure to make the music quieter.
@@Rymskaaa Yeah, I was just noting that you can do it. It can be an alternative to downward up b, just something to whip out that is safe (?)(by comparison) and unexpected. I also feel that a fast falling attack is a good part if any heavies arsenal, but I may be wrong
@@krimsonkartoffel I don't think his dair suits his kit as a heavy personally. I feel like if he had a more traditional dair (like Ganondorf's) it would suit him better - but I guess dairs like this have seen good results before (Bowser's). I think what really makes the dair often a worse option to go for than up b is the difficulty it is to actually land the dair. The actual spiking hitbox of dair is a lot more specific than the actual animation of the move (most of the leg/foot just deal regular knockback, and not much of it either) and the spiking hitbox also lasts for not too long. Combined with this, the up b's spike is actually more powerful iirc and has a much longer window for spiking and (I think) travels downward faster. Sure, dair comes out faster, but it travels slower meaning if you're trying to actually use it for the use of going downward a long way, sometimes downward up b is actually a better option. Although dair does have it's uses, I personally see it as a very impractical move when up b is very similar in nature.

Problem with bowser is that both of his downward options stall for similar time. Ridleys dair is fast enough to be unexpected if they are conditioned to expect up b. One things for sure, combo fodder needs a quick move to ground themselves and Ridley has 2 decent options, not counting nair. (Which may be his best option, ironically.)
