Yes, I do. It’s primarily about identity politics. Another issue is that they’re alienating men, particularly young, non-college-educated white men, and they lack a clear vision that these men can truly connect with.

Thank you very much for having this excellent discussion with Mark Halperin. While you've asked a good question, as a lifelong registered Democrat for 50 years before I changed my registration to Independent here in CA to help RFK Jr get on the ballot, and as someone who worked as a volunteer on both of Bernie's campaigns, I don't see the Democratic Party as part of "the Left". IMHO if FDR, JFK, RFK, or MLK Jr were alive today they wouldn't recognize today's Democratic Party. There are too many issues to list here and I could talk about this for hours, but over the course of many years the Democratic Party has become extremely pro-war, pro-censorship and authoritarian (lockdowns & mandates), pro-corporatist, and with their insane support for gender ideology, extremely anti-women's rights! To date, females have lost more than 1,000 medals to the males of our species who have competed as trans identifying females in sports! I think a discussion about the current political landscape and what is actually "Left" or "Right" nowadays would be interesting and might even be helpful!

I'm gay and grew up in a wealthy, pretty much apolitical, slightly right of center family. My parents voted / vote Republican but did not get upset if a dem won (at all). And they are very nice and open-minded people. Same thing with all four grandparents. I had little interest in politics. When I moved to a larger city (I grew up in a sizeable enough town - one with a metro population of way over a million) and "came out," I met the angriest, most neurotic, most unhinged trash I have EVER seen. If you disagree with them about ONE GODDAMN THING, they have ZERO use for you. They think they are open-minded, "inclusive," and "tolerant." And they see no irony. I have no use for THEM. I am now probably the most conservative person in my family 😂 I voted for President Trump, and I'm so glad he won. I know lots of other gays who did too. Not the stereotypical ones like Rosie, but prosperous, at peace, stable ones.

Harris was an abysmal candidate, but people forget that Trump is one-of-a-kind in his ability to galvanize low-propensity voters to get out and vote through disdain for the establishment. He has such a unique charisma, rough around the edges as it may be, and I don’t think Washington Republicans realize that if they had gotten their wish and DeSantis (or God forbid Haley) was the nominee, they very well could’ve lost simply because they couldn’t generate the enthusiasm that Trump does with his populist message and persona.

Question for Halperin and everyone else convinced that the ‘20 election was legitimate.
How do you explain the spike in vote count for Biden?
Where Trump failed in my opinion, was first in letting it happen and second in not doing a very good job of explaining in detail how it was done.
There is one explanation. Massive vote harvesting.
The trouble is, we allowed a system that makes proving this virtually impossible.
But just look at the vote totals. Can you really claim with a straight face that Biden easily outperformed Obama in urban areas?
