    Another way to look at it that helped me decide where to go next after my 0-Coast, is to imagine that the next module you plan to get is actually what you were going to get BEFORE 0-Coast, and then look at how 0-Coast would allow you to expand that module. Looking at it this way really made me realize how much functionality is packed into 0-Coast, its a total little swiss army module!

    Very cool, I’m so far away from modular in terms of knowledge and synthesis, but even for me it’s obvious that 0-coast is underestimated, and you are the only one who actually demonstrated how powerful and deep it is. Hopefully you’ll share few more vids with jams or more pairing setups with it. How about pedals ,tape loops and 0-coast setup?

    • @loopop
      @loopop  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    What what about the analog Novation Circuit Mono Station? Has both CV and MIDI out for up to 3 sequences.

      Absolutely!

    • @EuanLynn
      @EuanLynn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Worth mentioning that I could never get the CV output (now that you can route the Modulation sequence out of the Aux CV out as note CV) from the Mono Station to scale correctly with my 0-Coast - even just within one octave the tuning was too far out to be useful musically. Still had some fun triggering my 0-Coast using it, but it just didn't quite work as it should! Worked perfectly over MIDI though, though that way you lose/duplicate one of your sequences from the Mono Station.

  • @jonaseggen2230

    The first thing to add to most semimodulars and synths would be a reverb and a delay pedal in my opinion.
    There are loads of synths and gear circulating on the secondhand markets, making it relatively easy to try out things and resell without much of a loss.
    After my first semimodular, a Mother 32, I bought another secondhand. But after buying a Doepfer low cost case and some modules, also used, I resold the second Mother and got a dreadbox nyx V1 instead. The secondhand Nyx was dead cheap to as Dreadbox has made a V2.
    Bear in mind that some hyped and out of production gear can be really expensive, and that If you really want that sound or functionality, it can make sense to wait for a while as clones or remakes are likely to pop up.
    My first external sequencer was an Arturia Keystep that I don't really like that much, except as a portable and decent keyboard. At the moment I use a Mutamix and just got a Doepfer Darktime. The mutamix was dead cheap and is good as a modulation source, and Darktime is really intuitive and great for instant melody and beat making. It has also made me rediscover new sides to my instruments.
    I've also seen many enjoy and making great stuff with the Korg SQ1 both for semimodular and eurorack, so I suppose for that low price it is worth checking out.

    Hi Loopop,
    thanks again for this wonderful video! Talking about adding voices to O-Coast, I would be interested in adding the voice of another VCO and passing this throug the sound design of O Coast (adding harmonics and so on) is this possible? just addig the sound signal in the "Voltage Maths" mixer? thanks

  • @jamessaunders3446
    @jamessaunders3446 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    At 13:25 you describe using the Keystep to control 0-Coast and Plaits separately using MIDI A and B. Please could you show how to do this? Would love to be able to play both sounds independently rather than layered and synched. Your videos are super useful, thanks so much.

      Ahh, just figured it out. The zoom will not take a mono input... So it just shows up in the left channel. I can fix it in an editor. I guess a mixer would also solve the issue it go through an interface into a daw...

      @@rhdwave thanks for the kind words re the video - another way I'd "solve" the problem is get a stereo reverb pedal and chain that after the delay ;)

      You're welcome. Your vids are incredibly insightful and sonically wonderful. And, that's perfect advice on the stereo reverb at the end of the chain. Do you have any recommendations? I know the strymon stuff is top notch, but it's not in my budget right now

      @@rhdwave My top recommendation would be H9 Max - I know it's not cheaper but you get that and you're "done". On the more budget side I would go for TC Hall of Fame 2 for $149 - I don't think it's a compromise compared to BigSky and I know people who'd say it's even better...

    • @rhdwave
      @rhdwave 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The H9 is definitely legendary though as you said not cheap, but of seen some great demos of the hall of Fame 2. I'm going to revisit that one. S so loving the 0 coast btw. I have gone down some deep rabbit holes in the past couple of days (which is what I wanted) especially with the added delay. At times I feel like I'm communicating with or having a conversation with another dimension

    Just got the 3U rackbrute and want to make 0-coast the center of that setup. Overwhelmed now but this helps as a starting guide. Would Muxlicer and Maths be a good combination?

    • @loopop
      @loopop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not necessarily - It really depends what synth you’re trying to build - though one can rarely go wrong with maths and muxlicer is nice too... all depends on where you want to go

      I say, take your time. Try out VCV rack, have a good idea of what you want in hardware form and only then buy it. These things are expensive... it's worth the research to figure out what resonates with you

    Hi, is it possible to simulate the PWM trick 1 with the external VCA using a Crave? How are the connections?

    • @nikkortumblr
      @nikkortumblr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found the solution:
      “VCA
      Apply a CV signal to the MIX 2 input. With the VC MIX control at a fully counterclockwise position, apply a 0V to positive CV signal to the VC MIX CTRL input (EG for example). This will dynamically determine the amplitude of the signal at the MIX 2 input that is passed to the VC MIX output.”

    Hi, how do I sync dfam with 0coast? I have clock being sent from my digitakt over midi, and the 0-coast is set so that it sends the synced midi clock output from its tempo which is synced with digitakt, but when I plug in clk out to adv / clock on dfam it stalls the sequencer.

    Hello Loopop. I want to run dynamic microphone through input on maths section. Which is the best way to amplify the signal? Can some microphone amplifier under 100$ do the work (like Behringer Ultra gain)? Thnx, cheers

    Sorry, man - when those greedy Google folks threw a 3rd ad over your video, I had to bail. I could tolerate one or two ads, but it's never enough for them. I'm afraid their obsession with money is going to bring a lot of good things to an end. Cheers!

      These videos take quite an effort to make and ads pay the bills. You can always get TH-cam premium which also pays creators and has no ads

      @loopop My comment was definitely not a knock on you - I like what you do very much, and understand the financial dynamics for you as a creator. If a monthly contribution to your Patreon would suppress the ads, I'd do that in a minute. But I'm not giving a cent to Google - they have tainted the platform by choosing (as now seems invariably characteristic of corporations their size) to pursue revenue to the exclusion of all other considerations. Pretty much anything on the YT platform (other than completely obscure content that gets no views) has become unwatchable over the last 9 months or so, due to the huge increase in the number of ads. My 2 alternatives - to watch much, much less, or not watch at all - are both detrimental to you and the other synth content providers I enjoy watching. Unfortunately, watching ads with some video content sprinkled around them (which is almost literally the current reality for the content I like to watch, synth-driven and otherwise) is detrimental to me. All the best to you - I'll peek in from time to time and watch until I hit my 2-ad limit. I'm sure that will be plenty of time to see something interesting, given the excellent quality of your work. Cheers!
