Intro bumper by Abe Dieckman
Thanks for watching!
I'm so happy that Adam has reached the point where he can laugh at the memories. It's a good place to be, but takes time. I still have a box of my brother stuff who passed 12 years ago that I go through from time to time. Fluxuates from joy to a gut punch.
So sorry for your loss.
Hearing you, I have a bunch of stuff from my girlfriend who passed away in 2014 (one of her rings, some of her clothes, etc) and it's nice to rummage through some of the stuff occasionally. Goes from happy nostalgia to gut punch reality.
Miss that man so much...
Getting to the age where all your heroes slowly or suddenly pass away, is rough.
Grant however, left us way, waaaay to soon.
He had so much more to contribute to the world 😥
Well said.
can't believe it's been 3 years since we lost him
I miss Grant so much. He and all of MythBusters have shaped who I am today and is the reason I am the curious and intellectually-driven person I am. Thank you ❤
I never got to meet Grant but he was one of those rare people that had this awesome quality about him that made you feel like you knew him even if you never meet him.
I have a friend who met and took photos with Grant Imahara, at a robotics competition for students. She said he was so nice and friendly.
I was looking for something to watch with my kids recently and found Mythbusters on Max. My children are 7 and 5. It’s not always kid friendly, but most of the episodes are fine. In any case, they were into it immediately. We jumped around in the seasons some, and at one point we were watching some of the earliest episodes. My daughter noticed Grant wasn’t in it and asked if we could watch more episodes with him. It really was a special show and Grant was great. I hope this sale goes well. Best,
I love these. I love that I know Grant is smiling knowing his old junk is somehow helping people.
We miss you, robot man.
I had just left my junior year of high school when that sword was used. You guys were a big part of my late teens and early adulthood. You taught me more about science than my science teachers. Rest in peace Grant.
Imagine owning the crew gift for the end of Mythbusters made by Adam gifted to Grant. That's pretty insane.
I got the company I was working for to send a replacement Buster to Mythbusters after talking to Kari at a Con. We had about 6 flight test dummies, but we did some research and found out there was a warehouse somewhere full of Russian test dummies.
Very cool😎
"Screen-used harpoon" is a truly wonderful statement.
Grant was amazing, he even got to exercise his acting chops as Sulu in "Star Trek Continues".
RIP Grant. You are surely missed!
Love that Buster story. It sounds like you presented an opportunity for that agency to upgrade their crash test dummy by "misplacing" their old one
Just sucks he’s gone. Long live Grant…What a wonderful soul
Rip Grant, it's crazy I remember being obsessed with the Mythbusters, they made being smart artsy unique but always down to earth people,it's a honor learning from you Adam over the years
Is it possible to bid to spend just an hour listening to Adam tell stories about his career. So encapsulating! Could listen to this man talk about his work and who he has worked with for literal HOURS A DAY.
MythBusters was such a staple in my household growing up. Going back and watching the sword-swinging robot reminded me how terrifying that thing was. Seems like a build Grant had a lot of fun with!
Oh wow, I had no idea Grant passed. He was my favorite myth buster. It’s great you have some awesome mementos to remember him. RIP Grant
he passed away 3 years ago sadly
A lovable man and true genius that was taken from Life far too soon. 😢
He will be eternally missed.
🥲
I think it's so wonderful how you're doing all of this to benefit Grant's foundation. 💜 He is missed.
Must be a great water feature.
@@andysmith1996 Haha, thanks.
The sword swinging robot was scary as all heck but the Flying Guillotine that almost gutted him still scares me when i see that episode to this day.
yeah. that was a bit close lol
Dude. Those mementos are the sweetest thing.. I just wanted to hug you when you opened it.
I remember that sword swinging rig and how utterly destructive it was. I can hear Grant laughing away the energy after every blast, wow. That piece of sword is beaten to bits.
Me and my brother would watch mythbusters growing up. I swear it’s the reason why me and him are smart with a lot of creative thinking. I really miss those days. I miss them all! You guys have made some very very intelligent people from offering a t.v show that includes building and plans.. you all truly hold a special place in my memory and my heart!
To this day the mythbusters crew makes me so happy. Rip to grant and my very best wishes to the rest. An important part of my life the show will always be
I’ve watched this a few times now, and I can’t help be enthralled by the passion that you hear in Adams voice when he talks about MB, and then the tears roll when Adam talks about Grant. #busterchunks
I still get it choked up seeing Adam talk about Grant.
Grant Imahara was a nerdy, kind soul. ILM, BattleBots, Mythbusters, Geoff from Craig Ferguson, and more. If I could describe Mythbusters in two words, it would be "What if?"
Wait grant worked on Geoff?? That's so cool! 🤩
Adam, I can't tell you how much Mythbusters helped me in the early 00's. I was dealing with my son being born premature. I spent a lot, and I mean A LOT, of time in the hospital to be there for him and his mother. I spent more nights than I can remember sleeping in chairs in the atrium, watching Mythbusters as I'd fall asleep. It was so calming to watch and listen to the science, the narrator, as well as you and Jamie, explaining things for the show.
You helped keep me sane. Thanks.
I still remember seeing the show they brought to Melbourne back in 2016. Absolutely unforgettable, especially when they trundled out THE hot water heater they’d blown up - it got its own standing ovation! Or the four barrel paintball cannon Jamie had for the end of the show. We miss you guys xx
Mythbustes was one of my childhood shows. Miss him Everytime I rewatch an episode.
I miss Grant so much. This video made me cry and laugh. I lost three of my best friends in the last 4 years, and it’s been a journey dealing with the emotions that came with their loss. I laugh about the memories, but then sometimes cry so hard I can’t breathe. Grant was one of those people that, when they passed, I felt like even though I didn’t meet him/know him personally, it felt like I did because I watched him on mythbusters for years…..
4:49 As a side note, from working at a pharmacy for many years, another kind of zip-lock bags that are wonderful are those used with hazardous waste.
I unfortunately don't remember where exactly they came from, but they had an impressive seal, were astoundingly tough, and came in 3 different sizes to accommodate most any item we needed to ship out. Small were approx. 6" X 4", medium were approx. 12" X 8", and the largest ones were about the size that you were holding on here.
There was several times over the years where it was a bit difficult to open those bad boys when sealed!😂
Years ago I had a roommate that was a lab tech in a hospital who also assisted the coroner with autopsies. She would use hazardous waste bags to pack her lunch in. No one ever stole her food from the break room fridge.
@@robo5013that’s awesome 😅
@@robo5013 That's pretty funny! And smart, too.
Back when I was a cashier, one of my friends was a supervisor where I worked and he had a great sense of humor. We also had the small yellow "Hazardous Materials" bags for Rx use, and I remember one night we both closed there was an exceptionally horrid smelling bill that got put into one of our registers. No one up front really noticed it, but he sure did when closing out and counting the register.
Well, right before wrapping the store up he called me back to the office to show me the yellow bag sealed and taped up, masking tape on the front of it saying something like "DO NOT OPEN," with the faint silhouette of a bill behind it when put up to the light. I think he said something along the lines of "Yeah, this one was so bad, they're gonna probably burn it at the bank..." 😂
I've had bills come through that were beat up to hell, some with makeup on them, some with blood (assumedly) on them, all that nonsense, but the occasional _rank_ ones were always unpleasant.
@@JaySay I've worked retail before as well and I'd place good (non smelly) money that the bill was stored in someone's sock. I had customers give me soaking wet bills right out of their shoe. It's disgusting.
@@robo5013 The first store I worked at was maybe 2 blocks away from the community's local pool. We would get some damp money, and wet/sweaty boob pocket money, too...
I know the pain!
MythBusters, the show, and the team, will be forever in our hearts.
What a legend Grant remains ❤
Grant is such a great artist!
I can't believe that Mythbusters ended almost a decade ago.
I still can't believe that Grant left us almost 5 years ago.
RIP Grant
There will never be another like you.
I'll always feel so lucky to have gotten to watch Mythbusters from day 1. Never missed a single episode.
YES I MISS THE SHOW VERY MUCH , ALWAYS ENTERTAINING AND EDUCATING ALONG WITH BIG FUN
Mythbusters was THE program i grew up with, and you guys are my Heroes! and i just want to thank you. So Thanks!
Looking extremely well there Adam.
What I wouldn't give to be able to afford one of the Buster display boxes.
Fantastic video, Thank you for sharing. I really miss Grant, he had soo much passion for everything he did and he was one of those special people that you a better person for knowing him. Everyone keep yourselves and love ones safe and healthy and remember to SMILE 😊 Happy Holidays 😊
First time hearing Buster chunks. Still enjoy hearing the Buster origin story.
It is a delightful complement that this can be watched followed by, at the top of the sidebar, a full Mythbusters episode being recommended. Great time.
Adam I just watched this episode, I was stressed out the whole time you were handling the sword, because I thought for sure you were going to smudge the autographs! 😩
He will never be forgotten memories live on in the heart for Generations upon Generations as well as being immortalized through video you will be missed but never forgotten
“Buster Chunks”
Love it lol
We got the M1919 barrel from Sword vs Machine Gun at work, it is good to see that other pieces from Mythbusters are in safe hands.
Rest easy Grant. Thank you for your dedication, education and entertainment throughout the years.
ooooo, neato! i'm in love with the signed blueprints! so cool!
Grant had so much more to share with the world. Taken before his time. I miss him. 😢
Miss Grant and miss Mythbusters
FYI that type of harpoon was made for a Greener Harpoon Light Gun. The same used in Jaws by Quint.
The opportunity for anyone to simply have something that meant something (tangibly meant something) to Grant, is still so very-bitter sweet. :(
LMAO that hand-equin giving us the bird in the background
Yes at 4:34 in the upper right - funny.
Love the fond empty nest vibe about the "myth kids."
a sad rip for legendary Imaha ! what a super brilliant guy!
Experimental Salsa was the name of my band in college. No but seriously that was a hilarious description of the crew gift.
best MythBusters episode.. blowing up the cement truck!!! we all miss Grant
Dude, best gift ever. I still struggle knowing he died, I am so unplugged I had no idea and loved him same as all MythBusters. This will never happen again, you all did it and changed the way so many people look at the world they live in. I am crying writing this. Broken heart!
Another extremely scary experiment that almost killed somebody was the Batman grappling hook that wasn't properly attached to the workbench. The base part shot backwards at about 1000 miles an hour and just missed them. I would imagine it was almost fresh undies time...
Amazing items! Also what a pile of end switches in background. What are you working on? 🙂
This nostalgia boost makes me so sad that we don't have Mythbusters, or Grant in our lives anymore 😪
Great video Adam sir😊
Please do a video on your CNC converted mill I see in the background :)
"Buster Chunks" sounds like a pretty good band name.
I recall Grant casually announcing "Decapitation hazard, everybody" as he completed that sword swinging rig. I also recall the sword swinging rig getting repurposed so many times over the course of the show until you probably could have used it for a drinking game.
Grant: "Listen to that baby puurrr!"
Lol. Nice.
😭 we need a MythBusters reunion. One or two days of just old school mythbusting. Miss you Grant ❤️.
can hear you still choke up about talking about your friend. i am sorry for your loss even the years cant stop the pain

Grant seemed so nice indeed, I wish I had known him. RIP
need to put in some buster’s what did i get myself into videos.
5:30 I think that came with a Greener Harpoon Gun.
In other words.
Jaws.
3:59 This statement, which I thought only happens in movies when it comes to super secret government figures, actually happens. I didn't expect that, lol.
Buster Chunks sounds like a serious bowel problem. 😂
Great to see Grant doing good things for he world even after his passing ❤
99% it was department of transportation. Even if other agencies use those dummies, DOT probably procures and manages them.
I remember that sword swinging machine 😮
'Chunks of Buster'. Just what everyone wants to take home from work, chunks of their coworker.
I wish they would have handled that myth with a certain measure of Western vs Japanese sword competitiveness. Like Tori gets a historically accurate Italian sword and Kari gets like an English/Scottish claymore or something and it's handled a bit tongue in cheek. I never got the "does the dog like Italian? " when Tori was going to get his arm bit by the police dog until I was older. I always liked stuff like that which gives the show tons of replay value when you're an adult.
Hi Adam was wondering if you could do a show and tell on your air riveter thanks Chris
OMG you broke that sword on my birthday in 2006! So cool!
Any idea if the other two (or more) parts of that sword are still floating around waiting to be re-joined with that middle chunk? Getting the full (if a bit broken) sword back together would be incredible.
We miss you, Grant.
current model was the 'nexus-7' a couple of years ago, iirc 😂
What a good cause, in honor of a good dude.
Buster chunks - isn't that an ingredient at Dairy Queen? 😛
First Rule of Buster Club - Don't Talk About Buster Club
Second Rule of Buster Club - DON'T TALK ABOUT BUSTER CLUB!
Buster Chucks would be a great name for a Tested cereal.
Such cool history.
Chunks of Buster would be a great rock band name!
Looks like a WW Greener Harpoon, same used in Jaws.
"buster chunks" is hilarious lmao
Grant will always be missed
4:40 Aaaaaaaaaaa, what does that hand in the right upper corner show? 😁😁😁😁😁
RE the Katana, @tested would you ever do a Katana ODB? you've made swords in the past obviously -- I would love to see Adam's interprutation of this
Mythbusters was the reason I got HD cable.
man looked thru the auction and made me sick soooo much good stuff but when there is no way i could never afford anything because in 13 days the price will go way up .but can say everyone who can get something i sure will enjoy it
Rest easy Kerry & Grant.🖤
It's Kari and she is still alive
Man I wish I had the money to secure that piece of the katana!!
Looks like the Hybrid III was introduced in 1976, and is still the standard (along with some other larger male, some female, and children dummies). There's some newer models that are more advanced called THOR for frontal impacts.
The II was introduced in 1972. Not sure how long it was used after the III in 76.. Also sounds like the II was mostly used for testing seatbelts.
The thing about standards like this is... they tend to be used for a LONG LONG time. Primarily because when you do a test, you want to compare it to all the previous tests done, and you'd rather do that with the same piece of test equipment. So even though the III is now approaching 50 years old, I'm not surprised it's still being used for testing.
By the time Mythbusters came along, the II they got was likely a good 30 years old, so I can see why "random government official" was willing to part with it. Knowing how government works, I can also see why he didn't want to reveal they gave it to them. "That was supposed to be sold at a GSA approved auction!!!!".
The person could be charged with stealing from the government.
@@robo5013 It'd never happen. There's no exchange here, just getting rid of junk.
It'd be more like "you didn't follow the proper procedure in disposing of government surplus". And the consequences would be more like being fired, or demoted, or shamed. Nobody is going to prosecute this ever because it's not theft.
And even then it'd be extremely unlikely unless some a-hole got a political bug-up-their butt. Nobody REALLY cares about one 30 year old, obsolete crash test dummy taking up space in some store-room somewhere.
