    I really like Ireland's entry this year. Perhaps it doesn't fit the traditional Eurovision mold, and that's what I appreciate. The creativity, the horror-fairytale mashup, the vocals, choreography, and staging-all of it resonates with me. While Eurovision showcases many singers, I'd say Bambie Thug stands on a higher artistic level. Nothing to add, nothing to take.

    So many of us love Bambie!🖤✨️🌙 One just needs to understand the fusion of many different genres to get why this is a progressive approach to composition, not aligned with any mainstream views. But the natjonal jury in Ireland also gave Bambie 12 points, not only the public!🙏
    As a part of the Gothic scene I have to love this and to celebrate all night long, because Bambie Thug is giving us alternative people a voice and is speaking out for those who are different - not only in their musical tastes, but also in their worldviews and lifestyles. "Doomsday Blue" as a composition already delivers everything a lover of dark, enigmatic and slightly progressive music could ever dream of: The fusion of mesmerizing genres that originally shouldn't fit together but create a perfect mélange in these three minutes of the most beautiful fever dream, screams that are piercing marrow and bone, clean vocals that will haunt me at day and night even decades after Eurovision 2024, pulsating electronica that almost sound like they're emerging from a demonic realm, and a grand finale smashing the earth with heaviness and high energy!🖤⛧✨️🌙 # sendthewitch was successful , and I'm being honest when I say that I was bursting into tears when the results came in! Eurovision definitely needs diversity and outstanding acts, not only mainstream pop, and here we have some of the most special and profound art, evoked by a insanely creative, impressively passionate and instantly touching human being. Bambie was touching my soul through the screen, even in all the interviews - but the performance exceeded my expectations even on this small national final stage. Just imagine how this will look like on the big stage!🔥 I couldn't be happier: Not only to be represented and to have a voice I can wholeheartedly identify with at Eurovision, but also because Bambie deserves it. Everyone saw how well-deserved this victory was: On stage and off stage. The crowd was on fire for "Doomsday Blue"! And if I say that this is one of my happiest days in life, I don't exaggerate. This is not just another Eurovision act for me, this is an act that is expressing who I am. Bambie, CAST THE SPELL OVER MALMÖ!🖤✨️🌙⛧

    Hi, Jan. I'll just ask a question: Who gets to decide what constitutes music? Throughout history, people have evolved music. There have been times when "new" music never received appreciation until after a composer was dead. This was often true in classical and romantic times when composers changed "music" too much. In the early 1900s when atonal music came on the scene, it was largely rejected as random noise. Then it got traction and became of field of composition study at even prestigious conservatories.
    For me, "music" isn't just about chords, progressions, and lyrics (if applicable). Music IS about an experience, and it IS about expression as well. That's where this entry resonates with me. It's an expression of two important and competing struggles: 1) being nonbinary, and 2) the chaos of mental health struggles and the battle between highs and lows that you do not control--they control you. You're at their mercy, and it must be infuriating. Especially when the vast majority of people around you insist on invalidating you and saying "it's all in your head."
    It's okay to not like it. It's okay to say Ireland made a huge mistake. It's okay to criticize it. It's even okay to say it's not music. But there's also nothing wrong with letting people express it and experience it on the biggest stages. Because it's not up to us to decide.
    Love your channel and the fact you're willing to express (see what I did there?) potentially unpopular opinions. So many channels tell people what they want to hear in a desperate pandering for subscriptions and likes. Best, Craig

      as I wrote someone else in here dor the very similar question, I will just shorten it - the fact you can use color on canvas is not make your creation an art. And this is exactly my feeling. In general - i dont think this is a song and feel like I am forced to believe it is even something more than this. But I dont like to play this game and therefore thats just my opinion anyway :) So I am glad there is a discussion. As still no one told me what is the think to see in this performance, what I have missed. Its more about why I dont see it the opposite way. But I have described it in the video.

    The thing for me that is so impressive is how good Bambie is as a performer. The song from Finland last year, cha cha cha, is not a song, who listens cha cha cha on the radio No one. But it was amazing performance and rightfully took the people’s vote. We need variety and there’s always space for talented people

    The eurovision is no longer about being a song contest, its a performance contest with good staging and something different. This stands out 100%. Also would you consider rap music since rap isnt being sung? For your education the definition of music is "vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion."

      @JanBors  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thx for telling me but I dont rly like to be fooled around this way. 1st of all eurovision is a song contest and that of course includes performance as it is a live format. And by this - the performance, I can tell it worked nice. Just technically speaking. Jts not about rap or this... its like Picasso - thats art. You playing with colors home on canvas is also art? Well, if we shrink it to the fact of using colours on canvas, everyone is artist then. And then its fine.

    I always appreciate honesty. If that's how you feel about the song, that's how you feel. I would also like to know who you think Ireland should've sent. Everyone except Bambie and possibly Ailsha were guaranteed NQ's imo, so it's better to send a risk.
    Sending Bambie, opens the door for more alternative acts to apply for Eurosong. Our national final has lacked creativity and Eurosong is basically seen as a contest for middle of the road pop songs. If Bambie qualifies (which is a possibility), that's great but the national final in Ireland has just been terrible in recent years. It's not even that important for us to qualify for the grand final. This is more about changing our national final. When that changes, hopefully we will get our rewards at Eurovision. The goal is to have semi-finals which can showcase even more Irish artists, different genres and move away from the Late Late Show.
    I do agree with you that juries should be in the SF but they're not, so Ireland has to take a risk and go after the televote. I 100% agree that this will receive a really bad jury score but maybe some points will be given for uniqueness.
    It gets people talking about Eurosong and Eurovision. From looking at Bambie's social media pages, they look like the kind of person that you just can't ignore. Bambie is just such an artistic and creative person, who will have the most interesting outfits all during Eurovision. There is no doubt that Bambie will be in the spotlight.

    (longish comment coming)
    Very interesting perspective, the song is a very divisive song, as exemplified by this reaction, which is exactly what the Irish fans felt was needed! Whether you love it or hate it, which is completely valid, I assure you that the Irish fans as well as (most of) the general public in Ireland don't view this as a "troll" or a "joke" - it is doing great numbers (400k views in 24 hours, which has never happened for any Irish Eurovision act in a NF before, not even Brooke got as many views in her first 24 hours), and has had even many members of the older generation supporting it. The amount of parents and grandparents that have supported the song is astounding! Even the studio panel were talking about how Ireland has played it safe for too long and done nothing, and that a risk was sorely needed.
    The National Final as a whole was an improved package from past years, but still needs a lot of work! The host was better, the songs were better (in comparison to previous years), the overall vibe and energy were better. The acoustics and mixing in that studio (and RTÉ) have been famed for being bad, and that shows in the show. The other main competitive song was "Go Tobann". Ailsha's performance and staging made sense to a domestic audience who understood the message of the song, but the song derived too far from what made it so loved by many of its fans in the first place, that deep, growling sound. Other acts such as Erica-Cody were let down by the quality of the song rather than the performance itself.
    "Doomsday Blue" really can do anything in Eurovision, in my opinion. The song could very easily fail to qualify similarly to Telemóveis (PT 2019), or could (key word could) do very well in the final. I can imagine that many newspapers across Europe may have Bambie Thug as their cover photo due to their aesthetic, increasing their publicity. The song is something we really haven't heard before in Eurovision, non-binary musical screaming! There is indeed an audience for this, it won the selection in Ireland after all, a country not usually known for being particularly 'out there'. And that's what makes it exciting. Love it or hate it, the average person will remember it after all acts have performed.
    Funny you mentioned "Samo mi se spava", Luke Black and Bambie Thug are good friends and Bambie applied thanks to being inspired by Luke at ESC.

    • @JanBors
      @JanBors  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think what is most important, that it is backed by the country. it pops out for Irish and it started this believe. Also I take the huge possibility of being wrong on this completely and this is ok. It is truly polarising, also I did not see other acts. What I can add, but I think it is in the video, that as a performance this is ok. I morelikely have a problem with the show as a song / musicality of it. This is what I question. The rest, why not. After all, if this makes country proud, I am very glad that finally something!

    I think there were not a best option in that NF. I agree with your thoughts about this performance. It's perfect for a Halloween party but that's all. I appreciate your sincere opinion and I share completely your reaction this time. But in the Irish selection there weren't any song to get through the Final. This will stand out in one way or another in its semifinal and the ballarina part is funny at least. And don't feel sorry for sharing your honest opinion. It's perfect that way and there must be a lot of people thinking the same. Thanks for your vids

    Issue is that we have had the same national jury in ireland for years since the 80s. Because of that we have only sent very safe and useless songs that never get through. This is a fusion of rap and heavy metal all wrapped in celtic mythology! Thr symbols all ahve meaning, the dancers are pucca irish celtic spirits and their dresses and sounds like a daoineshee (spirit who cries when death is about to happen) so a lot of it is context. That your unaware of maybe. We the public got sick of things being too safe.

      thanks for a comment but I highly disagree. Eurovision changed for much better after Lordy to amazing modern tv / singing and performance contest but I feel its starting to coming back to 2000s. But actually singing is not a problem here, I dont even care about visuals. Thats what I for sure like. But the song refers to those years - or its not the best in genre for sure and it plays the note of 2000s eurovison cliche. BUT - ireland wanted this, and even irelans hates those years, now they love Bambi, the song, believing in winning. The last thing is delusional but the others are amazing step forward.

Firstly I was worried that your reaction changed from being honest to more audience attracting style, but it's nice to see that your real thoughts are still there. About this song. Now matter how many so-called fans would be running around saying about greatness and geniousness of such product (i used to take part in such activities years ago), the reality is boring as hell: this was bad selection with weak both songs and other participants. No offence to artits, shame on broadcaster. Kaarija was just a start but my guess is that we are going to hear a lot more blended songs in the future! It's a bit like those flute players who beatbox over classical pieces. Anyway.. Put PassCode - ATLAS (PassCode CLARITY Plus Tour 19-20 Final at STUDIO COAST) or if you're feeling really adventerous 椎名ぴかりん / 確認事項:しあわせとかについて(OFFICIAL) in your calendar to react to when the whole eurovision is over. Thx for such a nice comment! Rly! I think you are right that music fusion is the new way. There will be more and more. And thats ok. I think in this genres you can find outstanding stuff and also some nieche, which for sure this ouja-pop is.
      Why not. We dont need to like everything and as we say, all good has its buyers. Just to be clear - Bambi Thug nailed the live-performance, I actually have no problem with this. Clean vocals, staging, also directed it was nicely, light great. So it also showed the small stage doesnt need to be a limit. Its an opportunity. Compared to others, this was full package. I have only "problem" with a song and even though I see the big excitement, not sure if this is a beneficial for the whole contest and also if its not just a bubble.
      Anyway, we'll see in reality and I would be glad that it can bring more positives than negatives in to the whole bigger picture.

      I am not specially rooting for Bambie Thug and I also believe that Eurovision should have certain standard on quality but not on genres or artistic expression.
      Dustin the turkey is a good exemple to start with. Putting standards to limit access to performances like Dustin’s may put the same restrictions on the next generations Kraftwerk or Diamanda Galas participating in Eurovision.
      And it would be so boring if Eurovision became synonymous with blend ballad, pop or rock songs perfectly composed for industrial purposes.

      @@Iamyouiay you are right, its always a choice. I rather see Eurovision growing and being accessible to artists who want to bring quality instead of being laughted at for taking part then having Turkeys but both are the ways. In case of Turkeys, you can forget Barbora's Mochowa, Lake Malwi but probably even Mikolas Josefs like artists would even consider participating. This is my bigger fear than having just quality balada, dance pop songs and amazing rock/metal bands. And thats it. hi im wondering why you and others react to this contest? its like as if you want to get people to like or dislike some of the songs. Do you react to new songs by famous artists like Taylor Swift , what you say makes a difference to people's feelings about these performers, I was hoping Ireland would be left alone now that sweden has got equal, I think wheather Israel should be in the ESC this yr as Russia was removed should be spoken about, reactions to that ,

      Eurovision is the biggest television show in the world. Also it is the only one excluding sports which connects various countries. Its a tradition and its a CONTEST - a clash of music. ythats why it is interesting to comment on it, as someone else comments on football team tactics and players. And I am simply giving to this public space my opinion, for discussion, to learn something new or to make someone think. Simple as that. Russia was removed cuz it terroristically attaced sovereign democratic country for zero reason. How you can even compare it to Israel? 7/10 does not ring the bell?

      this can be, it is an opinion after all, I see this is very polarising song or performance most likely. Having exactly 50:50 reactions on it and nothing in the middle. What is most important is actually not what I think but that Ireland finally backs its own artist
