@@hockeycollective Your video (at the time you posted it) made solid points. Talking about player performance is like predicting the weather or the stock market…. Could go either way depending on the circumstances lol
Id love to see you break down Ramus Dahlin just like this as well. Since he was touted as the best defensive prospect yet has been overshadowed by Makar and Hughes.
@@hockeycollective I agree but he defiantly doesn't get the hype that defenders drafted behind him or or the years around his. Would be interesting if you could go into why he doesn't and why he should.
Tim Stutzle and Lucas Raymond would have been better choices for the Rangers, though the NYR are notoriously bad at developing young forward talent. Who knows how Alexis would've turned out had the rules been in place to prohibit playoff teams from rising more than 10 spots to rob actually bad teams prior to the 2020 draft. Sure it's fun if yours is the team rising 17 spots to nab the 1st OA, but it kind of sucks if you're slated for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc...and you watch a playoff team steal your pick. Glad the nhl finally changed it, though it should have been changed sooner. Landing on a fairly stacked team limited Lafreniere's opportunities and likely hampered his development.
His career was ruined by having an unimaginative plod of a coach in David Quinn who stifled his creativity and insisted that he succeed as a bottom six grinder while the others in his draft class were given the chance to play on the top six and develop into the star players they were expected to be. Same story for Kakko.
He's overrated from the start. Yes, he was good playing in the juniors with kids. In the NHL against men, he's average, slightly below, more like AHL. Even on a stacked NY team, he's struggling 🤦♂️
Yea like I mentioned I think a lot of the hype was due to constantly being compared to Sidney Crosby. Not many people could ever be like Sid, it’s wild to compare 16-18 year olds to that standard. I do think he’ll figure it out. He’s better than an AHL player for sure, he just hasn’t taken that next step forward
Definitely an NHLer...though obviously not a good pay off for the draft capital spent. Tim Stutzle and Lucas Raymond would have been better choices. Always tough to tell how much a draft pick's development is helped/hampered by the drafting team's development system. Here the drafting team(NYR) was already pretty well stacked and didn't really have the ability to give Lafreniere the ice time necessary to develop properly. Likely why the nhl subsequently changed the draft lottery rules after NYR's ridiculous lottery larceny. In the end Alexis Lafreniere may ultimately prove to be the biggest loser in the whole mess...as his development was almost surely botched by NYR.
Dude has been killin it as of late
He's on fire right now! Basically since I posted this video lol, figures

I can probably do that! Love watching him play

no Rangers fan but I hope for a breakthrough

9 points in 13 games right now much better rate than last year, even if slower than anticipated.
He could blossom with the Habs.
He's gone on a tear.
He sure has lol. Love to see it!
The only thing you left out was that he had zero points in last year's playoff series against the Devils.
What would you pay him?
Think he was drafted to the wrong team
He has been proving himself he has 5 points in 11 games he’s number 4 for the rangers for goals
What a bust

41 goal pace? 11 points in 14 games. AHL player? Yeah right buddy. Just shut your mouth

Laf has been excellent. One of the better Rangers forwards this year. Gie him a break. He's on track for 35 goals.
Yea like I said he's been great so far this season. Confidence is everything for him, hope it continues
