First electro-industrial band of any note, but Chrome, Cabaret Voltaire, and Throbbing Gristle were influences on SP. Genesis P-Orridge of Throbbing Gristle formed a sort of mentorship with Ogre around the time both were in Pigface together.
Definitely recommend the Ain't It Dead Yet tour. What 3 guys were able to create live was unreal. Side note, they preferred a living drummer who sounded like a drum machine
cEvin is an absolute beast on the drums. On the first Oghr tour, he played drums (after the Doomsday festival), I think it was a sort of trial for them reforming Puppy. He was great there too.
Skinny puppy is probably the single most important contributing factor to the existence of NIN as this was one of Trent’s favorite bands that most inspired him to start making his own music.
For those who were fortunate enough to see too Dark live , I'll be jealous until I'm in the ground. Described " people were running for the doors, screaming , crying, laying on stairs tripping " . To add to the mystique, the footage was "lost" of the show. So very little is floating around . Tiny vid bits of the scariest show ever made.

Sonic experimentation is part of what defined the industrial genre, certainly with the old school bands, so soundscapes like this are fairly common. NIN and Ministry are just a few examples of nineties bands that reached more mainstream exposure by blending in elements of rock and metal.
Addiction (First Dose) and Nature’s Revenge. You’ll get it. Rabies was an amazing album but Al Jourgenson’s influence is audibly present. Too Dark Park, Cleanse, Fold, Manipulate, and the Process for definitive Puppy. D.R. Goettel died in 1995 just after the Process was recorded. Ohgr and reconstituted SP are great, but go to 95 or prior for true SP ❤
Ok so this footage is from early 90's maybe. This song was released in 84. That is why they don't have wireless. The av band couldn't afford it. There would be no NIN if there wasn't Skinny Puppy.
Super ironic that you get a NIN feel considering that Skinny Puppy was Trent Reznor's biggest influence to the point that he straight up plagiarized them in the first NIN album

Yep. Wilhelm Schroeder = Bill Leeb. Same person. Was in SP and FLA. Even toured together a few years back.
Too Dark Park by Skinny Puppy is a fearful album it will never be matched for pure terror.
Last Rights does a good job of challenging that.

Saw this tour in Seattle, 2004. Was bloody (no pun intended) fantastic. Brap on.

I had the privilege of seeing SP 14 times over the years. Simply the best stage performances. Ever. TDP was, my hands down favorite tour.
