It’s funny because my starter just went on my freestyle and I was thinking there ain’t nobody on TH-cam who’s making videos on a 2006 Ford freestyle LOL I was wrong. Thank you for this
Apparently MY '05 FreeSTAR is the only Freestar to have the starter crap out cause there's no videos on removing and replacing. But I'll bet that there is enough similarity between the Freestar and Freestyle that this video can get me close to where the starter is. The next problems are my age (77) and we're almost to Thanksgiving time here in Upstate New York. I am NOT going to do this job now. When I was young like Al I would. But not now.
I'm about to do one of these for someone outside. Just checked here to see what I was getting into, before starting. I also, will be doing this with snow on the ground, but lucky for me, is a balmy 35 degrees, today.
Thank you for making this video, this was exactly what I needed to save a bunch of money vs taking my wife's car to the local mechanic. It took me 5 times as long as you, but it's all done and working great now.
@@timnewburry3687 I replied below, but just in case it doesn’t appear on your screen as it does on mine, this was it:“EZPZ. I recommend a 3-inch extension for the lower bolt though. You’ll have to see with your hands, because there’s no line of sight to it, but it’s right below the upper bolt, and oriented in the same direction.”
Thanks for the video. Wish I found this video earlier. I just had (4 hours ago) my Freestyle towed to the repair shop. Though not sure it is the starter is the issue but all indications point to it being the issue. Nothing happens when I turn the key and I have a good battery. Also did not know it would be this easy, no crawling under the car.
This was the easiest starter I've ever taken out and put back. Thanks for your video!! It was EXTREMELY helpful!! Just for anyone like me that wasn't sure though the air filter box just pulls out. I may have missed that part in the video but it took me just a minute to figure that out. Thanks again for the video!
You're a cool dude I have a beer with you. That was informatice. Good camera angles and funny as hell. Thank you very much for taking the time to post this.
I just did the starter on a 2006 Ford 500. It has the same motor except on the 500 the starter is under the throttle body! With a little wrestling I was able to remove and replace without removing heater core hoses! Mercury montego also has the same motor and I think possibly another car has it as well
thank you. gota do this to the old ladies freestyle. Would it be any easier from underneath getn to those bolts? I got no wobble. LOL. Still this ain't looking too difficult. Thanks again.
Would this be the same on the 2005 Ford 500? It won’t start , next day I try it and it starts , the next day won’t start, does this sound like the starter? Just had new battery and alternator installed within the last 2 years, any help would be appreciated 😊
EZPZ. I recommend the 3 inch extension for the lower bolt though. You’ll have to see with your hands, because there is no line of sight to it, but it’s right below the upper bolt, and oriented the same direction.
michael northup in the case of a dead starter, like mine, you turn the key and nothing happens, it didn’t make a sound. Lots of good TH-cam videos on how to diagnose a no-start situation. Good luck!
Ya I love mine! It was my bosses wife’s car and barely got used. It’s so loaded for a 2008! And now has a new starter lol! Thanks again for the video it really helped me out with the swap. I have a clone freestyle for parts so worked out perfectly!
I'm legit 350 miles from home and this video just saved me from paying 500 bucks for a tow. You're a great dude! Thanks

Man whattttt haha
Pleasantly surprised. About the easiest starter I’ve ever ever done in my life.

Thanks for making this video. Just watched the video and changed it out in about 30 minutes. Saved me a bunch of time and money.
Love my 2005 Freestyle! Your video made the job easy. Thanks!
VERY GOOD ,..I COULD'NT EVEN FIND WHERE THE STARTER WAS LOCATED,..THANKS A MILLION
This dood needs more followers. Excellent, informative and precise.

This is the kindve content youtube was made for
Great video. Way, way too many degrees here in south Georgia, though! About to jump on it and start power-sweating. Wish me luck!
Great video! The angles down beside the starter showing the bolts were really helpful to be able to visualize.
sampiness Thanks a lot!!!

Great video and that (side angle view) of the top and bottom bolts was MOST HELPFUL indeed made the job a lot easier...
Thanks....
My car is working now thanks to this video.
Exactly my job! ‘06 Freestyle!! So glad you posted! I’m about to do mine. I’ll update after it’s done.

Thanks man mine is at 300k miles and the starter just took a 💩 on me so this helped a lot
Thank you for posting thos video, it is currently no degrees here, and I will do the same job!

Your video has been very helpful, I followed your steps and I was able to fix my car, thank you very much and blessings
Thank you for thinking to do a video to help others. That was nice..
Just had mine fail and used your video to get familiar and get it replaced. Great job with details and glad you took the time to make this happen. 👍
Thanks man! always nice to go into something prepared
Thanks for awesome break down! I would suggest take negative cable off instead of positive
thank you sir, went smoothly
That's a good how-to-video, just like the Pros! Good job Al !
Thank you my good sir! You did great on this vid very well explained everything. Starter replacement successful
Thank you so much for telling me where it was I had no idea
Short and concise. Thanks for sharing.
Literal GOAT🐐🙌
Great walk thru. Thank you!
Thanks for the video. It is helpful. I may have a beer before I start.
Great video, very helpful, thank you.
Awesome video. Keep posting.
thank you for a great video I could see every thing

Thanks buddy 🙏🙏
Really helpful information however you should remove the negative battery cable first not the positive
What did it sound like when it went out
Thanks man!
I got an 05' and I got a used transmission put back in and for some reason my starter has like 3 wires hooked up to it
How did it sound when you tried to start it
michael northup in the case of a dead starter, like mine, you turn the key and nothing happens, it didn’t make a sound. Lots of good TH-cam videos on how to diagnose a no-start situation. Good luck!
great video!
great hat!
Thanks Dandy Smack!!!
Good job 👍👌👌 and nice watch hope not scratch your watch 😁😁😁
Thank you very much God bless Jesus Christ protect you
Thanks bro ☝️👍🏻
Thanks man
Someone just changed my starter and caused a dead short where is the most likely place my wire got hot enough to ground it out
the bottem bolt is rounded on the starter i just need to get that one bolt off
Never disconnect the positive terminal before the negative terminal on your battery.
Nice
My starter faces the opposite direction all the leads are to the left not to the right
SHOULD HAVE PUT ON YOUR HEADING, "FOR CVT TRANS.ONLY"
damn hope it's that easy for me
Thanks so much for making this man! I have the exact same freestyle as you
It's an awesome car. Absolutly loved ours while we owned it.
Ya I love mine! It was my bosses wife’s car and barely got used. It’s so loaded for a 2008! And now has a new starter lol! Thanks again for the video it really helped me out with the swap. I have a clone freestyle for parts so worked out perfectly!
Thanks guy!!!
