You Guys freakin rock. Much Appreciated doing this how to vid, cuz I used the service manual years back in the 90's but there's something for seeing it done by you with my eyes to my brain compared to reading it in my original 88' sr5 manual. BTW, The LCE street headers are sweet running and look forward to buying my next 22re engine from y'a'll.
So was trying to do this an every thing worked until the number three exhaust valve spring would not loosen on the rocker arm. took the screw completely out an the spring was still tight on it
I was always taught to bring each cylinder to TDC before adjusting them (Honda) like you guys do, any advantage i see would be time to turn the crank more times? So say 3-4 minutes total job time? I would assume there is no performance gain in the Toyota way just save a little time?

You're welcome glad you found it helpful, and let us know when you want that motor!
Absolutely, a professionally produced video. Thanks so much guy. Just plain awesome for us DIY's.
Glad you liked it!
@4:50 yo mention #3 exhaust which is correct in sequence but your visuals have a white arrow pointed at #3 intake side. Just FYI
Awesome thanks for simplifying the process
You bet! Here to help.
Very cool and easy to understand😊
Error on the graphics at time stamp 4:49? Shouldn’t it be pointing to the exhaust side?
Hey tbom32, you are correct and we are looking to get some of these older videos updated. Thank you.
What do those engines put out I remember my 93 hilux owners manual said 96hp lol it got better after adding crane cams hooker headers 8.8 accel wires
Typically about 150 Hp for one of our smaller builds and they can see upwards of 300 Hp plus with boost.
Thanks for the video
thanks mate, well explained, cheers

"You should not be able to rock it while the feeler gauge is in there"
Immediately proceeds to rock it while the feeler gauge is in there.
Does it matter if it’s an automatic or manual?
if i put the weight of my hand on the screwdriver the resistance changes. i don’t understand what i’m supposed to do

What type oil is suitable for this machin 22r please??
When it comes to the oil used, your normal name brand oil in the weight recommended for your climate will be recommended.
10-30w for the summer, 5-30w for the winter. if you're working with any better than a performance cam, then you want some thing synthetic with zinc
great video.
Thanks!
So the Haynes Manual I have for the 20R engine says to not use TDC, but rather the Advanced Timing Mark. So now I'm entirely confused. lol
Does yinz know if the adjustment specs are the same for a 21ru? 😅
Should be.
Great video thanks 🎉

THANK YOU
Great video thank you
Very welcome
So, you did the # 3 intake twice?
Thank you sir.
Excellent 👍
Thanks!
Adjust them at 7 and 11 because when they warm up the expand😊
You can adjust them cold at 7 and 11 but make sure to go back when it is hot and double check that you're at 8 on the intake and 12 on the exhaust.
Good video thanks
Thank you
