It works if you like cheap entertainment and YA trashy dialogue. It's unfortunate it has such a good premise, but the execution is terrible. I still read book 2 anyway to see if the writing improved, and it didn't.
It's great that you both have different opinions though. Usually people try to fit the other person in opinion, because they're scared that their own opinion will be weird and "bad". You are actually honest. Awesome
6.55 is fucking wild. Red Rising itself as a book was a bit slow, but an incredible introduction to the series. The entire series itself, though? bordering on 10/10. This shit is incredible.
I’ve read and listened to many many fantasy and sci-fi books and I have ones where I’ll read to more then I should but the only time this has ever happened to me was with words of radiance and oathbringer I was like calling out of work multiple days in a row to finish these books
Can I recommend not doing hundredths place ratings? It makes them seem superficial to a lot of people in my experience (unless you rate by quarters, 0.25 and 0.75)
its actually because of their system of rating. they give a score to 5 different things like plot, worldbuilding, characters etc and take the average of those 5 scores.
The day when I read Red Rising I will take a moment and personally thank these guys in my mind because aint no way Im reading this book without these 2 😂
Yeah, but simply because you can't put a book down doesn't mean it's a 9+/10 book. If a book can do that, it deserves a 6, and then some more. I give them 3/5 on Goodreads. A good book will be dense. It will make you think things you have never thought before and feel pain, anguish, glee, and more with every chapter. It will be like having grandma's homemade meal or a seven course French supper, like falling in love with a storm or going through the Amazon alone except for the ghosts that come out to keep you company at night. You will be a man transformed.
I'm about 1/3 through RR, really want to love it, but the writing just feels so simplistic and amateurish. Maybe because I just read Robin Hobb before starting RR.
As someone who didn't read Golden Son till last year when I read Red Rising as a Junior in High School all I could think about for months was "is there another book in this series" "why doesn't my school library have the second book in this series" and "how can I get ahold of the other books". I wasn't able to until a year ago Red Rising stuck with me the worldbuilding and characters had me enthralled from beginning to end.
You should be in sales, Austin 👏🏼
One of the VERY few books that I can’t put down. It happens to me once in a decade.
no one ever told pierce brown "show dont tell" but somehow it still works

@@alb0zfinest I got sucked in and read the whole trilogy. it was exhausting
This book was good enough to make me read the next one and i dont regret it. Honestly one of my favourite series of all time.
Ngl , this series has been the best for me this year !
Oki fine I’l read Red rising 😅 This video convinced me
I definitely agree with the 9.7. Book was awesome, but its hard for me to separate it from Golden Son and Morning Star now that I've read them all.

I just finsihed it and i cant stop thinking about reading the second one. I love it!
I’ve had this book on my shelf for like a year now. Once I finish the way of kings I’m gonna start it up.
Brent Weeks lightbringer series are visible on the shelf, that is a big thing too! Red rising and Lightbringer are my two tops, scifi and fantasy

I loved 1st 3 books

My Goodman. Hail Libertas.
I love red rising
I used to think the same until i realised the series quality only goes up so i had to lower the rating of the first one to make space

This is my experience with Dark Age, after the initial 8 or so chapters covering the Mercurian Rain, it just leaps off the page.
I get 9.7 for books 2 and 3, but Red Rising!?!?
Red Rising 10/10!!!!!
Whats the difference between a 6.55 and either a 6.6 or a 6.5?
9.7 for Red Rising is insane. Lmao
I liked it, but better than the sequels? Not even close. 9.7 is wild for that book
Agree with 9.7🎉
Agreed
The day when I read Red Rising I will take a moment and personally thank these guys in my mind because aint no way Im reading this book without these 2 😂
😂
A banger. A master of suspense. Red rising is probably my favorite book at the moment.

One of the best lot of books I've gotten sucked into since the three body problem. This series is #1 by far. Book 5 started losing my interest tho
First half yes. Hunger games half no😂
Yeah, maybe some of the sequels are there, but... Personal opinion, of course, Red Rising is a seven, eight at best.
6.5 is too generous 😂. It's more like a 2. I'd give it 3 but for the lack of originality
I'm on the 9 side of the arguement
Red Rising was fine, but it’s just more Hunger Games. It’s a tired plot.
Maybe I should give Red Rising another go. I got about half way through the book and just gave up on it.
You should but just to get to the rest of the series. Red Rising is pretty good but the rest is incredible
It’s interesting because I LOVED the first book. I’m struggling with the complexity of the second book.
Probably a 3/10. Pretty bad prose.
Austin has so much more to read. I DNF Red Rising.
4/10 at best
Currently in book 1. This is mid as hell 200pgs deep..
It's only a good book because of the books that followed it. On it's own it has plenty of flaws

For me it wasn't that great😢
so what separates a 6.55 from a 6.54 or a 6.56 buddy
We have a rating system of 5 categories and average those to get total score
Book 1 wasn't that good
