    I've done this and it. makes great lemonade. But I also put 2 cups of it (after it has set for a week) a cup to 2 cups of water, 1/4 cup of sugar (because there is already sugar in the lemon mix) then add 1/8th to 1/4 gallon of vanilla bean ice cream all in the blender and blend. I also add a half cup of vanilla protein powder and..... Caravella, an Italian lemon liquor. You'll get a frothy head (which tastes great) so I put it in the freezer just to where it is about to freeze and then spoon stir the froth into the main body. Either let it freeze completely or drink it cold. Warning! This is super habit forming if you're a lemon lover like I am. LOVE this stuff.

    Surely with salt will last longer but with sugar wonder how long will it last without refrigeration.

    Sounds like a nice tea to have, I bet adding some thin slices a ginger would go nice with it too when preserving it for use as tea later. I've heard for those who want to avoid sugar you can use glycerin which is usually found quite cheap from the pharmacy section at least it is in north america like 250ml is maybe 3 dollars. Basically like making a lemon tincture/extract with glycerin.

    • @HomemadewithloveNZbyMrsNeat
      @HomemadewithloveNZbyMrsNeat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m sorry your one is bitter. I never had the same thing with this recipe. The white part of the lemon called pith is bitter but sugar should over power that unpleasant taste. In fact, everytime i make lemon tea from the preserved lemons, I also eat the sliced preserved lemons after finishing my tea because they are no longer bitter.
      You will see how i make my lemon tea at the end of the video.
      Thank you for watching.❤️

    • @sofiameyen
      @sofiameyen ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you use Meyer lemons?
      There is less pith and the Meyer is much milder than traditional lemons.
      Also, if you live in Central or South America, the so-called "regular lemons" are NOT like Europe, North América, or Australia.
      They have a far more aggressive pith!!!
      Totally unsuitable for everything that I'd normally use the entire lemon or orange for!! (Coleslaw, marmalade, cakes, etc)

    • @HomemadewithloveNZbyMrsNeat
      @HomemadewithloveNZbyMrsNeat  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Saloni Chawda. Preserved lemons requires 1:1 ratio of sugar to lemons. You may lose the preserving effect of sugar if u put less than the required amount.
      Thanks for your comment.

    Hi, how long will they last without a fridge?

    • @LeNguyen-im8dm
      @LeNguyen-im8dm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They need fridge, but they last for many years. I fermented fresh orange peels with honey, ginger, and sugar. I never keep them in fridge. It is about 2 years now, they are still good. The longer you keep, they will produce alcohol flavor, but they never go bad. I regret that I added honey. I have severe pollen allergy, so each time I eat honey, I have a lot of runny nose and keep sneezing. That's why I consume them so slowly. For fermented whole lemons, they even last longer than my orange peels.
