Thanks for sharing! I like the idea of breaking down modules to lessons, giving kids a sense of completion. I'm curious though... In your Module 1 Lesson 1 example you have seven canvas assignments. How do you manage all that daily grading???
Of course! And great question! I wouldn't give students all that work in a day, usually two assignments at a time. This would space out my grading a bit. I would also use Rubrics to help me grade relatively fast. Many things I had students submit were also based on completion. Hope this helps!
I teach 3rd grade, self-contained (all subjects). So my modules are titled like “Q4 W4 - Apr. 22-26”. Then I use a header (no indent) for each subject with colorful emoji squares. So I have “[red emoji square] ELA”, “[yellow emoji square] math”, etc. Everything I post for a subject that week is indented under the headers. I post my ELA for the week as one assignment using your color coded tabs. I have a link to the Kami version of the digital copy of their pages (which I mark up in Kami as we go, leaving a colorful dot with a recording for our discussions). Under the Kami link are the tabs for each section of the text (3 each week), and a recording of me reading the passages and questions for each tab. While we don’t do a lot of work in Canvas, it’s amazing to be able to post everything for students who are absent, and allow students to use the recordings if they need them, etc.
Oh my goodness! I love this color-coded system! Thank you so much for sharing. Usually, there's a lot of questions regarding Special Education classes and Canvas, so I really appreciate your perspective! Also, I LOVE Kami with Canvas! A great tool for sure.
I teach high school, 11/12 IB Bio, and mine is a mix of your old and new way...lol! Each module is named by unit and then within the module I have headers for the different weeks so that students know which week Each assignment was completed. It usually begins with a page that has all the standards for that unit and ends with a review page for the unit that has vocabulary, videos, links to review games, etc. I did get some new ideas looking at the way you organize yours, and I think I'm going to play around in one of my sandboxes this summer and try new ways to organize and set-up content :)
@@mishellthomas5493 This is SO great!!! Thanks for sharing your organization/module set up style! I’m happy I could spark some inspo for you to experiment with this summer 💕
I organize my modules by chapter, and I have a header for each day, with an agenda and the daily assignments. So like I’ll have a chapter 7 module with Day 1, Agenda 7.1, DoNow 7.1, graded practice 7.1, notes 7.1, etc. I move the module we’re currently working on to the top of the modules page.
This is another amazing way to organize modules!! I like the chapters ideas, makes perfect sense. Thanks for sharing 🥰 Also, don’t you wish there was a setting in Canvas to switch the modules around so the more recent ones automatically appeared at the top?? I do!!

Thanks for all the great insights. I organize a lot like you under our IB themes, but this gives me more ideas to clean it up.
Love it! Excited for you 🥰❤️
