@@aroseinwinter7719 It`s because in Britain we have no law requiring us to carry ID , but we were required to carry ID cards in the 1st world war until 1919 , then again in the 2nd world war until 1952 as an election pledge by Winston Churchill , but also scrapped because of financial costs , 1500 civil servents were required for it and in todays money it was costing over 14 million pounds , When Labour got into power in 2005 they passed a bill requiring ID cards which was on a voluntery basis until 2010 but after that it would be compulsory . but in the 2010 elections every other party announced that they would scrap the Bill , and by doing so would restore civil liberties and also save almost 90million in the next 4 years by doing so , Labour lost the election to the conservitives who promptly abolished the law , the compulsory ID card was around for about 100 days , i think that many countries with ID cards can probably trace their origins back to the war era

Good question. Seems like lot of the Middle Eastern ones and Asians (Iran, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan etc.) are being told and firmly believe that UK is the most generous European country in terms of providing living, benefits etc. While that is probably true when it comes to genuine and successful asylum seekers (from war torn countries like Syria atm) most of them don't qualify as such (Afghanistan, Pakistan, India...) are refused and are entitled to absolutely nothing because they're suppose to leave. That's why they end up living in a nasty house with 10 guys per room and doing the worst jobs for probably half of minimum wage. When it comes to people from EU countries, I genuinely don't know why they want to stay in UK. Perhaps some like Spanish, Greek...have extremely high unemployment in their country and it's easier to find a job in UK. UK has some beautiful places don't get me wrong but most of big cities like London, Birmingham, Manchester etc. are imo pretty crap places to live in.

I always make two photocopies of all my ID when I travel and leave the photocopies in a safe at my accommodations. I also copy all my cards I carry.

Good question. Seems like lot of the Middle Eastern ones and Asians (Iran, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan etc.) are being told and firmly believe that UK is the most generous European country in terms of providing living, benefits etc. While that is probably true when it comes to genuine and successful asylum seekers (from war torn countries like Syria atm) most of them don't qualify as such (Afghanistan, Pakistan, India...) are refused and are entitled to absolutely nothing because they're suppose to leave. That's why they end up living in a nasty house with 10 guys per room and doing the worst jobs for probably half of minimum wage. When it comes to people from EU countries, I genuinely don't know why they want to stay in UK. Perhaps some like Spanish, Greek...have extremely high unemployment in their country and it's easier to find a job in UK. UK has some beautiful places don't get me wrong but most of big cities like London, Birmingham, Manchester etc. are imo pretty crap places to live in.
You do understand that the UK dollar is worth more than the American dollar correct? Uk relies heavily on imports and exports thus there are many job opportunities. I know there's more to it but that's just the basics.

Folks such as I find it bizarre that people from the EU can enter with no problems and have all the advantages of citizenship. Illegal immigrants make the situation worse. They should all be unceremoniously deported. If they wish to gain entry, they should follow the proper channels and protocols.
Tunnel has definitely no impact on the numbers of illegal immigrants since they wouldn't be allowed on the train. I think there was one case of one man who managed to cross to the other side through the tunnel while few others tried and died from electrocution. I think that's it, one man made it through the tunnel illegally.
