Where’s Studio Tan and Sleep Dirt? I remember getting those when they came out, which ever one had Regyptian Strut was the one I liked better. S tier Zappa for me are Hot Rats, Apostrophe and Joes Garage. Burnt Weeny Sandwich, One Size Fits All and Overnight Sensation would be A tier

Well how about that...I own eight Zappa albums, and all but two are in your top tier! Good to know! My other two are the Strictly Commercial best-of and Jazz From Hell (I've already commented about that -- a friend gave it to me, I think as a joke!). If I ever buy any more Zappa, I guess I'd try Hot Rats or We're Only In It For The Money. Thanks for the recommendations.
Saw Zappa live in 85. He was always just Frank. Did it. I have no lps now. But i feel his influence from the crazy funny Mothers to overzeeking Trout Mask his other 70's stuff. His interviewz are totally addictive. I appreciate his fatherly patience with us mere mortalz. ( My bro who i lived with, played you cant do that on stage anymore alot- that while id rather listen to Kd lang/sinead oconnor, Bob Marley!😅).
To say that you and I have a different idea as to where FZ records rank is different would be an understatement. Freak Out, Burnt Weeny Sandwich, We're Only in it for the Money, Lumpy Gravy, Weasels Ripped My Flesh, Hot Rats, those are among my favs. Uncle Meat is my all-time fav, probably because it was my introduction to Mr. Zappa. Man From Utopia is a mortal sin, but not so bad as Thing Fish. Anything Flo and Eddie hurt my head. The middle years, Tinsel Town Rebellion, You Are What You Is, Ship Arriving Too Late to Save a Drowning Witch etc. were only made in an effort to sell records. I think Frank was like, I got a family, it's time to make some bread, or something like that. As you said, everyone has an opinion, and this is mine. Anyhoo, nice vid, thanks, Larry
Hi Larry I would definitely put Chungas Revenge, and Burnt Weany Sandwich in the s category I also love the Bongo fury album its a little short for a live album but that's ok its over before you get bored you can't beat the muffin song.
I think I mostly agree with your rankings. I would put Burnt Weeny Sandwhich and Weasels Ripped My Flesh in S tier and move Freak Out down to A tier but those are probably the only changes I would make. Just curious Larry, have you heard any of the albums that have come out since Frank passed away? There has been a ton of great stuff coming out such as the complete Roxy Performances box set, which is absolutely incredible.

It has some classic FZ songs like Oh No, Eric Dolphy Memorial Barbecue, My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama, and The Orange County Lumber Truck. It is a strange album so I understand why some people might not like it, but I just see it as sort of a continuation of Uncle Meat.
I have about 10 Zappa albums, including Jazz from Hell though...So, I've got 5 of them that are in the S tier, 3 that are in A tier, plus Ruben and the Jets & Lumpy Gravy (B tier), and 200 Motels (D tier). I haven't heard 200 Motels yet, except for some previews of it...I'll buy albums that I think I might like, based on the previews. TTYL on that once I hear it, but guessing that I'm going to disagree with you on that one!
Hey man i remember i commented years back on your pink floyd top ten albums video and you replied to me. I think i was only 16 at the time. For me my favorite zappa album is a several way tie between one size fits all (first zappa album i heard) and overnight sensation, sleep dirt, waka jawaka and probably a couple others i cant think of at the moment. My least favorite by far is weasels ripped my flesh. Ive known about you since you made your "longest video on youtube" back in the day and i remember skipping to the end and there was a groovy song going "aaaaaaaaaaaahhh stud muffin!" (Or something like that) and a cat and weird green screen visual effects and i found it hilarious. Thank you for the memories and God bless you brother.
Hey Larry. I don't blame you for not buying Frank's later albums, but, if you've got the time, I highly recommend checking out the albums that came from Frank's 1988 tour. In particular, "Broadway the hard way" and "The greatest band you never heard". They are exceptional and among his best work in my opinion

Like I said, I don't have every Zappa album and the one CD Studio Tan is expensive to get on CD these days, but I had them both on vinyl.
The bass on regyptian strut is badass.
Funny you say you prefer studio albums, when most of them contains alot of live recordings (with or w/o Studio-overdubs) Decent Ranking though !!

My catalogue is complete, have every official record released, and some bootlegs, 168 albums right now.
Over Nite Sensation is my favorite and Thing Fish is my least favorite. It sucks!

200 motels is funny because of the song penis dimensions. You gotta listen to the whole album and just let it surprise you though. You wont regret it.

I highly recommend revisiting 200 Motels. If you don’t like the classical stuff I think you’d appreciate the rock songs with Flo and Eddie at least
