- In this Vlog, we’re visiting the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China, one of the most iconic landmarks and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Join us as we explore this amazing piece of history!
The Great Wall of China is an awe-inspiring feat of ancient engineering and one of the most recognizable symbols of China’s rich history. Stretching over 13,000 miles, it winds its way across the northern part of the country, encompassing rugged mountains, vast deserts, and lush valleys.
The Mutianyu Section
Mutianyu is one of the best-preserved and most picturesque sections of the Great Wall. Located about 70 kilometers (43 miles) northeast of Beijing, it’s less crowded than the popular Badaling section, making it a great spot for a more relaxed and scenic visit.
Historical Facts about the Great Wall
Construction: The Great Wall was built over several dynasties, with the most well-known sections constructed during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The purpose was to protect Chinese states and empires from invasions and raids by nomadic tribes from the north.
Length: The entire Great Wall, with all its branches, stretches for approximately 21,196 kilometers (13,171 miles). The Mutianyu section itself is about 5.4 kilometers (3.4 miles) long.
Labor Force: It is estimated that millions of laborers, including soldiers, peasants, and prisoners, worked on the construction of the Wall. Many of them perished due to the harsh conditions.
Materials: The Wall was built using a variety of materials depending on the location. In the mountains, stone and bricks were commonly used, while in the desert regions, tamped earth and wood were prevalent.
Watchtowers and Fortresses: The Great Wall features numerous watchtowers, fortresses, and beacon towers, which were used for communication and defense. The Mutianyu section has 22 watchtowers, each strategically placed for optimal surveillance.

Go ahead to talk to young people, the students are all trained for speaking English, especially middle school students, they are good at English, and no worry about ordering food, other foreigners order Chinese food without speaking Chinese, it works fine. Go ahead in our adventure, have fun!
China has a good public security environment, friendly and hospitable people, countless beautiful natural scenery, historical sites with a long history, and different types of delicacies, which is a paradise for tourism lovers.
China is a very good place for tourists
Awesome guys! One thing I couldn't help but notice was the clear blue sky which totally contradicts western media narratives that China is a heavily polluted place. In fact, China pulled a great miracle by completely shifting the scenario over the last 15 years.
BTW, the GWC was also my first wonder of the world. Now I'm only missing Machu Picchu.

In your video, I don't see many people at Great Wall. The day I went there, it was packed with crowds, everywhere was filled with people.
We read that this section of the wall was less crowded! And as we kept climbing higher the crowds also went away it because it was quite the hike! Thanks for watching:)

The Chinese government didn't ban TH-cam. Google was asked by the Chinese government to abide by Chinese laws, and Google refused. As a result, Google and it's subsidiaries including TH-cam cannot legally operate in China

I don’t know how it works but when I watch Sun Kissed Bucket List or Ken Abroad I can switch on Chinese subtitles. It would be a big help if you also use that function.

@@ShaeandDavid The Simplified one is better because more mainlanders watching your video, but the traditional one also is fine, we can read both.
@@ShaeandDavid I can see in Ken Abroad and Sun Kissed Bucket List both Simplified and Traditional are available when you click the upper right button. For mainland China it’s all Simplified. In Ken Abroad, Chinese Singapore is same as Chinese Traditional. Actually students in both Hong Kong and Singapore learn both Simplified and Traditional whereas Taiwan and overseas Chinese are mostly Traditional. Therefore it’s best to have both.

Chinese Internet speed is among the fastest in the world just because of Huawei. The speed is not the best in the hotel probably because of the cheaper plan purchased by the hotel or the vpn used by them. No need to explain. Be more confident!
