Thank you for this educational speech. I'm 58 and healthy, last period two years ago. So, I've wasted two years of my life so far because my doc didn't want to prescribe HRT due to the fear of breast cancer. So, I started researching. I've decided to consult another doc and start HRT. I hope it's not too late to reverse the symptoms, and prevent the diseases associated to estrogen deficiency. Thank you very much from Argentina.
@@carrieoff do you understand why bioidentical hormones are called so? It’s not the molecules. The molecules are identical to the molecules of regular HRT. Nothing different at all. It’s the mixture. “Bioidentical” is a mixture of 80% Estriol and only 20% Estradiol. Estridiol is the effective hormone. Estriol is a very weak estrogen. It is for supporting pregnancy. Guess what your employer can discriminate against you because you are being affected by menopause. Don't let them get away with this! This needs to be addressed in Employment issues!
Seven years after this talk was released, and we know a LOT more about HRT, especially long term use. Just because the FDA thinks we should use HRT only for short-term management of perimenpausal symptoms (a group probably made up of men, ugh) does not mean that we should do that only. We now have research and proof that HRT can and should be used primarily for prevention of diseases and illnesses that are mainly caused by the lack of estrogen and progesterone in women, namely heart disease of all kinds, dementia of all kinds, osteoporosis (all life-threatening illnesses with serious disability associated with them), and for maintenance of female genitourinary tract health. Estrogen affects every tissue in the body, so if your body needs it, don't just squirt it on the skin or vulva. Take it so it goes into the bloodstream and reaches every part of your body that needs it. Long-term use of individualized HRT is now considered to be safe. Many GYNs plan THEMSELVES to take it indefinitely, and I'm talking into their 70's and 80's and beyond.

"In 1900 womens life expectancy was about 48 years"? If you've ever done any genealogy you will know that's not true at all. That statistic (like many statistics) includes babies who die at birth or a little after. And since the life expectancy for a newborn in 1900 was much lower then and today babies are not dying so often due to medical "advsnces" this is shown in the average as a significant drop in life expectancy. Its the same as taking the average life expectancy of two babies. One dies at birth and the other lives to be 100. The average life exp6would then be 50 years.
@@RB-pf6dz Statistics don't lie, people do. Incidentally, are you or Sunny D British? Why do you put your terminal punctuation outside of the quotation marks? No judgement, just something I noticed and was curious about.
Sunny D, this is bullshit. All you have to do is walk around an old graveyard to know that there are no old women in there. Great information. Thank you. I am 38 yrs old I had a full hysterectomy in 2012 and recently went for my annual obgyn also a blood test, I was not surprised my levels are dramatically lower than the recommended levels. I felt like I was going insane while on fire!!! I am going to start BHRT in 48 hours (that is typically how long it takes a compound pharmacy to create a individuals mixture) but I still have major concerns about any treatment. However, I need a clear mind and controlled symptoms to be effective in my research for what is best for me and my daughter, when she starts her life change. My best advice thus far is Mediation, Yoga, healthy eating, and positive affirmations/visualization. Also, it is very important to take the right supplements and at minimum 8 glasses of water daily. These are just my suggestion, clearly I am not a Healthcare provider, merely a struggling mid-age adult trying to find what works for me.
Oooh, I feel sorry for you. Bioidentical hormone replacement is not going to protect you from osteoporosis, heart attack and Alzheimer’s. You will be horrified in 15 years when your bone density scan shows osteopenia. It isn’t reversible. After 10 years without regular HRT you will not be prescribed because of the cardiovascular risks. More than 10 years without regular HRT allows your arteries to harden. However do not ask your doctor to prescribe HRT for disease prevention. They won’t do it. You have to complain loud and long about the menopausal SYMPTOMS only.
So a quick overview of this thorough explanation pretty much boils down to women being COMPLETELY FUCKED after the age of 40. Meanwhile men are going through a midlife crises and want to reverse everything , look young , maybe drive a sports car ,change exterior appearance, start working out....during this time the wife is practically starting her decline so what happens?? Obviously men become distant , annoyed which ultimately leads to CHEATING! Thank you God. Can't really admire you on this equation. 🤦🏻♀️😪
Very good information for women and help them understand a lot about menopause. What things should we use together. estrogen progesteron testosterone. And what should we not use together? Big questions and this lady explains it very well
This was an hour video of listening to women being lab rats & all the mistakes doctors made prescribing their miracle pills. Couldn't finish the video. Makes me realize even more to always always always research whenever a doctor writes out a piece of paper for a synthetic pill like they do for everything. My doctor did that when I was at my appt last year. I am 53 and she prescribed me synthetic hormone pills and wanted me to be on an auto shipment with some company. Maybe she was getting the ol kickback from the pharmaceutical Co? Nope. Didn't do the synthetic.
I'm just listening thinking, "This is nothing like the research I have done and dealing with my peri with naturopathic doctors and functional medicine practitioner." One does not have to suffer or take toxins that may make you sick to feel healthy.
Both of you ladies do not understand that your “natural” bioidentical hormones are the exact same molecule as the Pharmaceutical ones. Why they are called bioidentical is the mixture of estrogens. 80% estriol and 20% estradiol. Estriol is a weak estrogen. It is for supporting pregnancy not for supporting you. To prevent osteoporosis, heart attack and Alzheimer’s you need Estradiol at a MINIMUM of .05mg per day in a patch and 1mg per day orally. That’s the facts. I’m glad you feel better now but in 15 years or at 65 when your insurance will finally approve a bone density scan you are going to be pretty sad about having osteopenia. At that point it will be too late to reverse and too late to start on HRT. In those 15 years on your ineffective dose of of “natural” hormone your arteries will harden, plaques will develop making HRT contraindicated as in can cause plaques to dislodge. You made your decision WITHOUT RESEARCHING WHAT YOUR DOCTOR WAS ADVISING. .
Bioidentical is not a medical term. It’s a marketing term. In trying so hard to not get scammed, you got scammed. I’m so sorry. Like you said DO YOUR RESEARCH and do it THOROUGHLY. You’ve done it only partially.

Once you lose estrogen at menopause your vaginal and bladder tissues shrink up. The urethra becomes exposed with the loss of protective vaginal tissues surrounding it. The vagina loses its capacity to produce moisture. This leads to an increase in Ph. Loss of moisture also stops the vaginal self cleaning mechanism. Both of these things allows bacteria to grow more easily and enter the urethra to cause infection. This doctor is a bitch because she isn’t addressing any of this. No amount of any type of juice is going to help this.
I feel as if you had suggestions for the systems. Didn't speak on hormone replacements. I do know people who use herbs that have been highly successful. Thank you
Yes, your regular Gyn will prescribe BUT only for menopausal SYMPTOMS. They will not prescribe for disease prevention so complain of symptoms. They will give you the lowest dose. Repeat visit and keep complaining of symptoms so they increase the dose.
I had uterus , tubes and ovary removed at age 46 or so. I was okay using natural methods for 3 years then went into extreme menopause symptoms. I have hot flashes with drenching during day as well as night. I was on estrogen for almost 10 years and taken off by doctor. I went right back to extreme symptoms. I have had this over 12 yrs now. I have been on various groups online and there are many women who have had menopause symptoms for well over 10 yrs.
Find a practitioner who is knowledgeable with the use of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. It is NOT right that women have to suffer like this when they don't have to! Your body needs hormones!
I've had a total hysterectomy since 1998. I went to my gyn this month Dec. 2015 and she said I don't need estrogen if I'm not having hot flashes and night sweats. She said doctors not recommending estrogen because of risk in breast cancer and blood clots. She said I need depression medication and only prescribed me vaginal tablets. What do you think?
Your GYN is not correct. They are quick to slap you with anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication though. Find a practitioner that specializes in bio-identical hormone therapy. Have your testosterone checked (yes, women normally have pretty decent testosterone levels. Low levels of testosterone levels can obliterate libido, cause depression, anxiety, apathy, fatigue etc). There are bio-identical testosterone supps for women too. Have someone check your thyroid function AND all your hormones levels, including testosterone. You deserve to feel better. I have no tolerance for practitioners who patronize suffering menopausal women by prescribing everything BUT the very thing they need...HORMONES! And FYI, the vaginal tablets your doc prescribed is most likely the low dose estrogen to help with genito-urinary symptoms of menopause. It isn't effective on all women. Some women need hormone supplementation...not oral, synthetics hormones, but topical creams/gels, patches or pellet bio-identical hormones ONLY
What's the point? Replace the missing hormones and change the diet to a higher fat very low carb moderate protein one.The brain needs cholesterol as does the entire body. Sex hormones require healthy fats to form. This low-fat crap pushed in the past is wrong, wrong, wrong.
Not exactly. Perhaps with oral synthetic HRT. But with bio-identicals, there have been no significant health risks identified. A decrease of breast cancer incidence and heart disease has been shown with the use of BHRT. And why isn't anyone talking about declining estrogen as the main cause of osteoporosis? Women are at high risk of developing osteoporosis due to the lack of estrogen and at low risk (or no risk) of developing breast cancer with the use of bio-identical HRT.
