Fun fact: Glenn Close had to spend weeks in physical therapy after the live action Dalmatian movies. You see, her back hurt from CARRYING these movies with her performance lol.
@@PlayersPurityI didn’t rate her “Good Cruella/Ella” in 102. When she’s evil she’s peak. Her English accent is also strong. I love how over the top she goes in 101. I actually slightly prefer the remake of 101 to its original
This was probably the best interpretation of Carella Deville, She played her so perfectly, she was so intimidating and so evil. And her clothes were awesome. This is probably the best interpretation of 101 dalmatians, you should see the second movie
Overall i prefer the animated version because the dogs talk and have more of a personality, but the one reason I do like watching the live action version is Glen Close's hilariously over-the-top performance as Cruella DeVil. She steals every scene she's in!
I forgot Arthur Weasley (The father) from Harry Potter is in this. Glenn Close is doing so well as a Vallian... They puppies were looking at: Ariostocats on tv - another disney Movies.
Loved both versions growing up, the animated version is really sweet, has that “classic disney” feel, I was obsessed with Dalmatian dogs as a young child as a result 😊
Which is why these movies were a nightmare for actual dalmatians (puppy mills and dogs that grow quite large and not always kid friendly=dog pound/put to sleep)
This is a fantastic remake of a classic. Glenn Close steals it as Cruella, but all the cast are excellent actors (particular shout out to Hugh Laurie & Dame Joan Plowright). It's well written, the real dogs & animals are very well trained and the (very early) mix of CGI with live dogs works well. Great reaction and thank you for reminding me of a great film from my childhood!
air bud 1-3 are great. the rest are in a quasi universe anti serum black hole of a demiension.. where apparently air bud and his children talked like humans...
Back when Disney live action remakes were good. I don't know why they're bothering with another Pinocchio when I already know it won'tbe better than the 1996 live action version another studio did.
So this was a live action remake of the animated 1961 disney movie, they make it a tad more realistic in that the dogs don't talk and whatnot but the film itself holds up pretty well, mainly thanks to the lighthearted comedy and Glenn Close being a fantastically batshit crazy Cruella The Disney+ film is more a prequel for the Cruella character, following in the lines of trying to sympathize the unforgivable villain like Joker did
oh man! I haven't seen this one is so long. it's actually a pretty good remake but you *have* to check out the original; it's iconic and the story is different enough that I think it warrants a reaction. plus, you get to really know what the dogs are thinking and feeling, which I think adds to the story.
For suggestions - have you ever seen Chicken Run??? 😆 Been revisiting that one lately and it’s so much fun!! Also just learned that there was a big push to get it nominated for Best Picture that year at the Oscars, and while that did not happen, it led to them creating the Best Animated Feature category the next year. Sign of a great movie right there! 🐓
One thing I love about the live action version is that Anita works for Cruella. In the animation, Cruella and Anita were friends from school. With Cruella being Anita's boss, there was a lot more at stake with refusing to listen to her as it seems Anita enjoyed being a fashion designer. It adds a lot more complexity to the story and the whole thing with Cruella being heavily involved in the illegal fur market. The animation doesn't specify what Cruella's job is, just that she likes furs. In the book, Cruella is actually married to a furrier solely for access to furs, though he was removed from the film adaptations.
To think that this is one of the first ever Disney Live Action movies before the whole live action craze is amazing. If they just kept doing it in this pace. And not every freakin' year, it would be better revieved perhaps?
It's a very good version, but you can't miss the animated original. Roger's video game has footage of the first movie, and the one the puppies see on TV is The Aristocats, another Disney classic.

please no, one of the best things about cruella is that i was absolutely terrified of her, cuz she was evil...and that s that. Some people are just born that evil without having a sad backstory to have brought them where they are. Im absolutely against them tryin to make us sympathize; in my mind cruella is the villain who gave me nightmares for a long ass time, i want it to stay that way
Disney made Cruella 1000% the terrifying villain we all deserve in this live action film... they really were brave and daring to make everything feel and look authentic... the look and feel of London is very real looking with barely any CGI or heavy overlay of lots of colour saturation... it all feels pretty grounded... so when Cruella comes in and is truly menacing it kind of takes you aback. I enjoy other Disney live actions but somehow for me they've never quite landed as effectively as the 'live action' quality they achieved with this one. Somehow most the other live actions still look very CGI-ish and clearly make believe, whereas this one... minus a few shots and the dogs being smarter than dogs would be in real life... everything else about it just looks like it believably takes place in a real live action world.... that all serves to make the great moments believably great and the scary, darker moments all the more terrifying. They didn't just make Cruella a larger than life pantomime baddy, no... cinematic shots and the musical score at moments like 17:45 really underline her screen presence with a Hitchcockian level of psycho-like menace. She isn't just camp and dramatic, she's truly unhinged and while you're entertained by her top tier villainy you're also completely meant to be terrified of her. Great reaction!
Honestly in terms of live action versions of disney movies this ones top tier, imo. Also the deal with how Skinner got that tiger pelt just flew over my head as a kid.
Okay, so for two years I hadn't realized you had reacted to this film and I feel ashamed especially seeing how much you liked it. Gonna have to set a weekend aside and catch up on your reactions. You've been doing some really good movies and tv shows. 17:45 it is that laugh and the pose that just makes Cruella an iconic villain. Glenn Close truly made an animated character come to life and be even more terrifying. Heck her version proofs that Cruella is Disney's evilest villain and why some of us weren't happy with them making Emma Stone's version more of a anti-hero. Cruella is a villain that just doesnt have anything redeeming her. Well, maybe that scene when she says women in marriages are trapped or something of that nature, that is the only time I can see a potential light.
10:31 oh my god, i totally get how you feel in that scene. Back when i saw this movie as a kid, that scene disturbed me so much the first time i saw it! Like as a big cat lover, seeing that poor tiger as a fur coat was just so sad, animals becoming fur coats for fashion is just so messed up 😰 Also Glenn Close makes a perfect cruella! Her evil laughs in that movie gives me chills! 😲
A few things I liked in this one over the original is while they did suspect Cruella to be the one behind it they even said the police already questioned her while here they suspect her go to the police and you do actually see her and accomplices all arrested. Plus I don’t know why, but seeing Lucky and the other dog come over the bridge always makes me cry. The car chase in the original is great though.
Yes, do the original. Some of us really old folks who knew the Disney films with traditional animation don't particularly care for the live-action or CGI remakes. They may be relatively good (as this one is), or not so good, but either way they amount to milking property Disney already owns in order to have more titles on the shelf. In other words, unnecessary. I have no interest at all in seeing the new versions of Lion King, Dumbo, etc.
Didn’t Skinner have a deep backstory in this movie? Like he got attacked by an animal in his youth and he skins animals now as revenge. Doesn’t make it right, but it is interesting that they thought of such a story for a minor character.
One of my absolute favorites growing up. I remember the first time I saw this movie was when my dad lifted me up and hit my head in the ceiling fan. Weird way of remembering it, but it works
I LOVE you reactions to cruella, like the line: I dont care how you kill the little beasts, just do it and do it NOW! Amazing performance of Glenn Close, Cruella and Scar are my favorite villains😈!
The Cruella movie will tell all about her origin and why she ended up the way she is now. In fact, she was'nt originally an evil person at first, but things in life turned things down for her,and you'll see why she would later become evil.
At 26:09, where this reactor is questioning the wisdom of Jasper and Horace surrendering to the London law (Metropolitan Police), that was the exact right thing for them to do in my opinion, because there was nowhere to go but down, and it's best to surrender to the fuzz without incident if you know that you've nowhere to go but down.
Watching this again after personally having a Cruella-thon. Really hope you watch 102 dalmatians and the new Cruella film (its a reimagined backstory btw)
